JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given.
Isaiah 9:6

How clearly the prophet distinguishes the wonder of our Lord's incarnation.

As a Child He was born, wrapped in swaddling clothes, laid in a manger, and held in His mother's arms.

As a Son, He was given as heaven's gift by God who so loved the world, the eternal Son of God by whom the worlds were framed and by whom our salvation was secured.

Why a Child and a Son?

So that we, through His death, burial, and resurrection, could be born again as God's dear children and one day be presented as the sons of God (Rom. 8:19).
--Rex Trogdon

Unto us a Child is born,
wrapped up in His mother's arms;
Unto us a Son is given,
come th' eternal Son from heaven.

Thanks Janet for the devotional thoughts for this morning.  I'm just home from a wonderful Christmas gathering.  All of the grandchildren were there and all of my kids and their spouses.  It was really nice to see everyone.

I'm very tired so I think I'll be going to bed now.

I'm moving a bit better today - and, of course, now it's time to try to get motivated to go to work.

Y'all have a good day.

Good Morning everybody,

I feel very upset todayby the flooding overseas where all these innocent people have lost their lives, and the number is rising every hour. May we all pray for the people left behind to give them help through their grieving. I feel so guilty sitting here on the computer when all this suffering in the world is going on, and there seems there is little we can do about it.

May god bless all the people that are suffering in this disaster, and all other conflicts in the world.

Hi everyone.  Didn't want to get out of bed this morning and seem to really be dragging.  Guess it is just one of those tired days.  We are awaiting the arrival of our grandson, his wife and the new great grandson.  They were to be here around 9 am for breakfast but he called and said they had all overslept and it would be another hour or so before they arrived.  This will likely be the only time we get to see him before he goes to Iraq in about 7 months.  He will be in training for those seven month so there is a chance we might get to see him again.

It is cold here in Georgia this morning but very sunny.

Marilyn, hope you can get your dog in your car.  That sounds like quite a struggle.

Janet, thanks for the devotional message this morning.

Pat, glad you are home safe and sound and hopefully you will have some time to rest up in the next few days.  Wonderful that you had all of your children and grandchildren together.

Vec2, the news just gets worse by the hour and I understand there are many outlying rural areas where they have not been able to get to yet.  If there just could have been some warning many lives could have been spared.

Karma, a third birthday should be so much fun for your all.  It is nice you planning something special.

Slow morning here.  Up late but slept oh so good!!!

My Aim says 40,000 people lost in the flooding overseas.  What a devastation.  I, too, feel that I should be doing something but what?  All I can do is pray for God to speak comfort in their hearts and deliver them from their fears.

I am hoping that today will be one of those do-nothing days.  We will see.

Good morning!  Plans changed for us last night.  I was to take Katy to Rolla to meet her Dad, but he has to take her grandpa back to Amarillo again today.  They will do a lot of tests, keep him in the hospital overnight, and try to decide the best plan of care for him.  He can barely get around, one knee is very painful.  He has had several hip and knee replacements in the past, and is now 74 years old.  This doctor did one or more of his surgeries, so he is familiar with his case.  Anyway, now the plan is to take Katy to Guymon tomorrow to meet her aunt, who will take her on to Boise City.  That way, she and puppy George won't have to ride all the way to Amarillo and then right back to Boise City.

Yes, the devastation in Asia is almost more than I can comprehend.  44,000 people??  That is a good-sized city!  I really cannot imagine it.  I truly believe it is another sign that we are living in the end times; that time is growing very short now.  My prayer is for their eyes to be opened to the truth of the Gospel, that they will accept Jesus as their Saviour.  That is the only path to real peace.  I do know that it is very hard to reach Buddhists for the Lord, but it can be done.  Of course, there are several other religions in the areas of the devastationas well.  Each has a particular set of beliefs.

I have been listening to my favorite Christian program on TV, now I need to get dressed and be about my day.  I wish you all a great day with the Lord.

WELCOME, DAVES_SWEETTATER, TO CP!!  I see you are a friend of our Beth!  And John, too, right?  We hope you will feel at home here and post often.  (I am Beth's Mom.)

Trials and Pain: Nothing to Fear

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You,
because he trusts in You.
--Isaiah 26:3

The only fear I have is to fear to get out of the will of God.
Outside of the will of God, there's nothing I want, and in the
will of God there's nothing I fear, for God has sworn to keep me
in His will. If I'm out of His will, that is another matter. But
if I'm in His will, He's sworn to keep me.

And He's able to do it, He's wise enough to know how to do it
and He's kind enough to want to do it. So really there's nothing
to fear.

I get kidded by my family and friends about this, but I don't
really think I'm afraid of anything. Someone may ask, "What
about cancer? Do you ever fear that you'll die of cancer?" Maybe
so, but it will have to hurry up, or I'll die of old age first.
But I'm not too badly worried because a man who dies of cancer
in the will of God, is not injured; he's just dead. You can't
harm a man in the will of God.
Success and the Christian, pp. 80-81.

"Lord, 'outside of the will of God, there's nothing I want, and
in the will of God there's nothing I fear.' Amen."

The report on TV says 44,000 dead and many thousands more missing.  Many will never be found.  So sad............

I am teaching Katy how to embroider, so that is interesting!  ;)

Papa John

I’m dropping  in to say hello.   It seems like the last few days I haven’t been very active with the computer.  I have tried to keep up somewhat by reading the posts in NEM.

The news about the tsunami is very disturbing.  We cannot help but be touched with the suffering this devastation is causing.  I feel so sorry for these people.  We have so many blessings and we see the human suffering of thousands of people whose lives have been torn apart.  I wish that somehow all the energy of war could be turned into energy to help suffering mankind.

Sorry to be so pessimistic but sometimes it looks like most of the news is bad news.  I know that’s not the case because we have so many things to be thankful for.

John 14:1-6
1   Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2   In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4   And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5   Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6   Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  (KJV)

Yes, indeed a very sad time, many Christians will have left their families and gone to be with the Lord, and many Christian families will have lost loved ones.
Many more souls will never know God's love for them now.

Hello brothers, and sisters,

With as many dead in the Tsunami. I believe that God, is going to use this to wake up the world.

I would ask a prayer to be said, by each one of us. That the word of God, no longer be denied. Countries as India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and northern Indonesia, can no longer afford the luxury of false religion. Though there are Christians in these places as well.

Matt 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. As you know the tsunami, was cause by an earthquake, in the ocean. Now there is the dread of famines, and pestilences in these places.

Oh Lord Jesus,
You know what pain is like. You know the pain these people are feeling. You know what these people are going through, right now. Help them to bear this time of despair, Gallantly, Cheerfully, and Patiently.
Let these people remember what Paul said,
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Use this, to show the world, you will no longer be denied. Spread your word, to the corners of the earth.
In your name, of Jesus Christ.
Amen

Al Moak

There is no way we as Christians could minister to all the suffering ones in Asia - except one: prayer.  We can and should pray that our merciful God would use these disasters to draw and drive men, women and children to Christ.  We should specially pray for GFA and others like them who are already ministering - that these disasters will be seen by unbelievers as reasons to quickly repent and believe the Gospel.  The success of the Gospel is the only possible good outcome to events such as this.

I made it through the day with a moderate amount of discomfort. Most certainly, after a 4 day weekend, the email inbox was loaded with 85 messages awaiting an answer, and lots of extra programming and research, since this is also the turn to the next year of a contract.

I'm thankful to be home, and that there is something already cooked in the fridge.  ;)

Y'all have a good evening.

TRISH _ Congratulations to you and Jacob:  I share your excitement.  I'm so happy for you!

On a sadder note:  Last I heard on CNN - Over 60,000 have perished.  The WHO says that another 60,000 may die as the result of contamination....and disease!

I agree with Janet.  Surely these are the end times!

I've been away most of today.  I've spent some very valuable time with my ex-daughter-in-law and it was delightful.

I've been running around so much the last few days that I'm very tired.  Hopefully I'll get back into the groove tomorrow!

Now, it's time to lock the door here and open the new topic for tomorrow...
