JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

THE LONGEST DAY
jOSHUA 10:1-15

Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and were living near them.  He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters.  So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon.  "Come up and help me attack Gibeon," he said, "because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites."

Then the five kings of the Amorites-the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon-joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it.

The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: "Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us."

So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men.  The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you."

After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.  The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, who defeated them in a great victory at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.  As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them from the sky, and more of them died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.

On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel:

"O sun, stand still over Gibeon,

O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."

     So the sun stood still,

     and the moon stopped,

till the nation avenged itself on its enemies,

as it is written in the Book of Jashar.

The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.  There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!

Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

How do you know God is powerful?

How did the sun stand still?  Of course, in relation to the earth the sun always stands still, but the wording should not cause us to doubt the miracle.

After all, we are not confused when someone tells us the sun rises or sets.

The point is that the day was prolonged, not that God used a particular method to prolong it.  Regardless of God's chosen method, the Bible is clear that the day was prolongd by a miracle, and God's intervention turned the tide of battle for his people.

Do not be afraid to ask God for what might seem impossible.  If it is in his will, he has the power to do it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Yesterday was a work day at home and a catch up on recorded TV programs day.  I accomplished a lot.  Tomorrow is a day for going to the dentist.  Also when they put the ventilater on Jerry, they forgot to give us Jerry's upper denture so I will go to the ER in Anderson and get them...fun!  Then I plan to stop by Jerry's place to get his mail and to check his house.  Then a bite to eat somewhere and on to ICU in Indy.  Busy day!

God Bless All of You!!!

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

I'm back from a quick shopping trip. It's easier to find charged-up electric shopping carts if a person goes before most people awaken.

Y'all have a good day. I'm on my way out to work.

Good mornign all!  I hope  today finds Jerry doing much better, and other members who have been suffering doing well, too.

We woke up wit snow this morning, and it is still coming down.  It looks nice -- I'm just glad I don't have to go out anytime soon.

Take care everyone.  Hopefully, I can get back "in here" later today.

Janet

I really enjoyed today's devotional, Etta Sue.  You do have one busy day ahead.  I pray God's blessings on you as you go about all those tasks.

Ruth Ann, you are like a Timex watch!  You take a licking and keep on ticking!!  Thank God!  You really do amaze me how you keep going in spite of problems that would stop many a lesser person cold in their tracks!  Must be the GOD factor!  ;D  You're a blessing, and I'm still praying for you.

I took Abby to her Mom yesterday.  She was NEARLY ready to go home, and the rest of this week I have several things to do which she wouldn't enjoy doing with me.  Curtis will be home tomorrow night on his Spring break from KSU.  Abby just adores her big brother, so she will be really happy to have him around---just like the rest of us.  :)

We have no water this morning.  Not one drop!  So Darrel is out trying to fix the well.  I really hope it is something simple, and not costly!  :-\

Time to go to step aerobics!  See you later.

Hi there, Karma!  I see you popped in while I was posting.  Enjoy your snow, and have a great day.

Good Morning I have posted an update on Joanne and Jennifer.

I do not feel well this morning but Fay wants me to come to work anyway after I go to the hospital for my blood tests. My chest is tight and my throat is burning I can't take anything until after the blood is drawn.

Al Moak

A long-time buddy of mine with whom I attended seminary is getting ready to publish his sermons on 1 John, and he wants me to look them over carefully first, make comments, etc.  Hopefully, he can do the same for me on my Psalms, Mark, and Romans studies.  So I've got to begin looking over his work today, then go to the fitness center, then the doctor, then reedit my Psalms work.  In the meanwhile, I'm supposed to elevate my feet two times during the day also.  How long is a day?  Is it long enough to do all these things?  I doubt it.

Amalia, here is someGREEN for you!  I need to find something green to wear, too---I forgot, even after seeing the Happy St. Pat's Day graphics.

I just took Beth to the doctor, he says she is doing well.  But she is NOT obeying his instructions, mainly about not eating salty things (chips) so.......... :-\ >:(

I am just checking to see if anything exciting is happening here today........later!

Pastoral Ministry: Discerning Leadership

For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in
among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men
will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples
after themselves.
--Acts 20:29-30

Within the circles of evangelical Christianity itself there has
arisen in the last few years dangerous and dismaying trends away
from true Bible Christianity. A spirit has been introduced which is
surely not the Spirit of Christ, methods employed which are wholly
carnal, objectives adopted which have not one line of Scripture to
support them, a level of conduct accepted which is practically
identical with that of the world--and yet scarcely one voice has been
raised in opposition. And this in spite of the fact that the Bible-
honoring followers of Christ lament among themselves the dangerous,
wobbly course things are taking....

The times call for a Spirit-baptized and articulate orthodoxy. They
whose souls have been illuminated by the Holy Ghost must arise and
under God assume leadership. There are those among us whose hearts
can discern between the true and the false, whose spiritual sense
of smell enables them to detect the spurious afar off, who have the
blessed gift of knowing. Let such as these arise and be heard. Who
knows but the Lord may yet return and leave a blessing behind Him?
The Price of Neglect, 6-7.

"Lord, may I be one of those 'whose souls have been illuminated by
the Holy Ghost.' Grant to me 'the blessed gift of knowing.' And
then be pleased to use me for Your glory today. Amen."

I went over to the hospital and had everything done in one visit, got there just about 7 am.

Then I went to Fay's she had me eat breakfast and told me to go home and not go out anyplace else today. So here I am at home taking it easy. I am doing a couple of loads of laundry that needed doing. The sun is shining for now, don't know how long that will last though.

I am going to finish tying my quilt and get the sides trimmed so I can hem the perimeter.

Sneezing sure makes my throat burn I am gargling with warm salt water and also with vinegar water taking lots of vitamin C and Zinc as well as the Emerg-en-C drinks. I could only get the Airborne online so that won't be here until the end of next week, that is why I am doing the other thing.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Good to see the postings already today.  I got an excellent report from my psa test as it is now 0.59.  While I have to have it rechecked in three months I don't have to see the doctor for 6 months.  Hopefully the cancer is being conquered.   I am watching the NCAA basketball games this afternnon while working on my laptop.

Marilyn, get some extra rest.  My wife has come down with another bad cold.  She just got over one only a few weeks ago.  She is spending the day in bed as really feels awful.

Janet, hope Darrell was able to get the well fixed.  I remember when my folks were on the farm and we would visit it seemed like about everytime something happened to the pump and dad had to crawl into the well and pump area under the house.

Karmat, we don't have snow here but it is very cold and damp.

Al, that sounds like a big job reviewing the writings of your friend.  However, it sounds like something you will really enjoy.

Pat

Hi Folks...

Sorry I'm late getting here.  I was hoping to be here earlier.  I felt good last night.  I was going to go out tonight for supper with some friends for St. Patrick's Day but now, I've just phoned them and cancelled due to these crazy spasms.

I'll have a lie down and then I'll be back here.

My goodness, here it is after 7 PM and we are still on page one!

My painting class went well today, it's always fun to have the ladies here and visit while we paint.

I just heard that they were unable to block them from removing Terri Schiavo's feeding tube tomorrow, but they are still hoping for a stay, which will spare her life.  I have signed online petitions, faxes, etc. in favor of saving her life.  To even think of deliberately starving her to death is just unconscionable.  God help us.

Larry, I'm so sorry Pat is feeling rough again.  And so happy about your PSA test!!

Marilyn and Pat---please get well soon!

I have the photos of Abby's sewing lesson ready to post, so guess I will do that now.

Pat

I'm locking up just a bit early tonight due to not feeling well at the moment.

I was supposed to go with friends tonight for a St. Patrick's Day dinner and to hear some Irish songs but at the last minute, these crazy spasms came back with a fury and so I had to stay in.

Anyway, praying for Tom's wife and Marilyn's friends and our Jerry.

Talk to you tomorrow.
