JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

WALKING IN THE OLD PATHS
Jeremiah 6:16
By the late Jack Scott

2. The Lamb of God

Spring is not far away in this part of the globe. In a few weeks, buds will be bursting into beautiful cascades of colour.  Brown fields will give way to tender, luscious shoots of green grass. The mornings will resound again with the melody of song birds, as they flit around in their new bright spring feathers, doing the things birds do while building their nests and raising their little ones. Soon, too, the little lambs will be seen sporting on the hills and in the valleys of Ontario, and Scotland and Ireland and many other places throughout the world.

Perhaps it was in spring that John the Baptist, on seeing Jesus coming to him said: "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world." John 1:29 (NKJV) What an unusual thing to call an adult male. What a peculiar statement to make. Think of it again. "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."

Lambs were familiar to the Jewish people of John's day. Lambs were a reminder to them of their history, when as slaves in Egypt, God had commanded them to kill a lamb, a spotless lamb, for each household and apply its blood to the lintel and door posts of their houses so that God's judgment would not fall on them. This exciting story can be read in detail in Exodus 12.

When I was a boy (many years ago), my father used to tell me stories to illustrate the Bible way of salvation. He seemed to have an endless store of them. Some of these stories I have remembered fondly over the years. One was about a man in Switzerland who was employed to repair the steeple on a local village church. So used, was he to working at heights that he did not bother to attach himself with a safety rope. He wanted freedom to move around, but alas his desire for freedom almost cost him his life. To their horror, some of the villagers saw him slip and grasp wildly to break his fall. To no avail, downward he hurtled. The villagers ran frantically to where the worker lay. He must be dead! But wonder of wonders he was alive. Instead, a lamb lay beneath him bearing his weight. The lamb was dead, crushed beneath the human load which had fallen on it.

When John the Baptist called the Lord Jesus Christ, "The lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world", he was telling his hearers that Jesus would die on the cross to take the weight of sin of the nations so that judgment need not fall on those who like the Israelites in Egypt were protected, by the blood of the lamb.

In the book of Revelation 7:9-10 (NKJV), we see, "a great multitude from all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues standing before the throne of the Lamb clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands and crying with a loud voice saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb".

There is a lovely hymn we sometimes sing in the church where we fellowship that speaks of Christ's sacrificial work as the Lamb of God and the blessings brought to all those who are His by personal faith in Him.

The Lamb of God to slaughter led,
The King of glory see!
The crown of thorns upon His head,
They nail Him to the tree!

The Father gives His only Son,
The Lord of Glory dies
For us, the guilty and undone,
A spotless Sacrifice.

Enthroned with Thee now sits the Lord,
And in Thy bosom dwells;
Justice, that smote Him with the sword,
Our perfect pardon seals.

Eternal death was once our doom;
Now death has lost its sting;
We rose with Jesus from the tomb
Jehovah's love to sing.

~Robert C. Chapman~

Let me lovingly ask you a very personal question, "What is your relationship to the Lamb of God? Have you put your faith in Him to deliver you from the judgment to come?" To do this you must first agree with God that you are a helpless sinner unable to meet the demands of His law, unable to pay the price of your own sin. Then you must agree that as the Lamb of God, He has taken away your sin.

If you have trusted Him you will one day sing the song of the redeemed in heaven

"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom
And strength and honour and glory and blessing"

Blessing and honour and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb for ever and ever
."

Revelation 5:11,12

The alternative is frightful. Those who do not seek the Lamb as Lord and Saviour will want to flee from Him as Judge, and will "call on the mountains and rocks to fall on them to hide them from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?" [/i] (Revelation 6:15-17).

It is my prayer that none who read this will miss the day of Salvation, and the mercy of the Lamb, for who will be able to stand in the coming day of the wrath of the Lamb.

Pat,

This is a wonderful message, You are so right, Whenever and where ever, Lord..  It is so important to always be ready to be the witness we should be, with a loving heart and a willing Spirit..

We mutter, we sputter, we fume and we spurt.
We mumble and grumble, our feelings get hurt.
We can't understand things, our vision gets dim.
When all that we need is a moment with HIM..

Good Morning everyone, I am only working 1/2day today, going to Fay's only, however must just stop by Versal's to have her sign my time sheet so I can get it in the mail today. A financial advisor is to be at her house this afternoon to help her with her checkbook and sho her how to save her money. As caregivers we are not supposed to  do anything with a client/patients finances. Although I have done her checkbook from time to time and I write checks for Fay and she signs them.

Where are you Jane?  I have not seen you for a few days.

Janet have you heard anything on your new computer yet?

Well all I am sorry that I've not been here that much.  It has been very busy these days & we are praying that we can sell our OLD HOUSE & we have another meeting w/ the couple that is wanting to get it tomorrow night & I pray that all goes well with this meeting tomorrow.

So, I am just here to WELCOME all the new members which I am sure that there are a lot of them so I just want each of you who are new to know that you have found a wonderful place to come to.  Everyone here is wonderful so I am glad to have this board to come to when I have the time.  I have met only 1 PERSON from the board & she is a very wonderful & very loving new friend ... my daughter calls her * GRANDMA * and so that is good to have a friend that is there to help your daughter out !!

Papa John ~ What you said about Katrina is my words also.  I did hear today that Alabama is setting up areas where people from Louisiana and Mississippi may be brought...how great is that?  And that New Orleans is being evacuated.

Sue ~ Don't work too hard this week and next week.  Will the work diminish after that?

Marilyn ~ I can't imagine having a 6-hour drive after 6 p.m.  I know some people do that all the time.  I just thank God that I never had to do that.

Pat ~ Thank you for another devotion from Jack.  Busy today...will read it later.

Alma ~ I can't imagine having to drive 360 miles in all to go to a pharmacy.  I have a pharmacy less than 1.5 miles away but I use the mail service.  Delivered right to my mailbox.

Sarah ~ You do seem busy...that is good...makes time pass quickly while away from home and at college.

Karen ~ What a beautiful welcome graphic....did you make it?  Have a great time at church tonight.

I am doing my laundry...well, my bed linens....turned the mattress and washing the mattress pad, sheets and bedspread. New bed tonight....woo hoo!

Janet

Hello folks!  I talked to the computer guy this morning, he says at least another week before I get my new computer.  :(  But, on the other hand, I am getting more work done since I can't spend so much time online!  (I still don't like being without it, though!)

I have a new baby at my house!  We brought home our new kitten yesterday from Abby's house.  She is the runt of the litter, and all her siblings are black and white, as is the mother.  But this one is light smoky gray, with markings like a Siamese cat.  She is a little cutie!  But she is hard to find, as it takes a very small space for her to hide.  We are working on training Cookie and Beth's dogs to leave her alone; but she can be a little spitfire when they threaten her, so I think she can defend herself pretty well.  Abby's dog liked her, they slept together--if the mama wasn't around!  I will take some pictures of her, and maybe even rival Etta Sue!  LOL.

Darrel and I are going to make a freezer full of cherry ice cream this afternoon to take to church tonight.  The youth are having ice cream to raise funds for Speed the LIght.  So instead of just lending them the freezer, we decided to go ahead and make the ice cream for them.  My friend Pat is also making a freezer full, then the kids will make three more. (It's a small church--but growing!)

I need to go down and check on my kitty.  Anyone have name suggestions?  Please??

I didn't know that so many of you CP'ers lived that close together.  But then, people of the feather tend to flock together.  One passes a good thing onto another and pretty soon the town town is active on a site.

Just got home from sitting up with my father all night in the hospital.  He fell and couldn't get up (remember that commercial ?)  He has dementia and is getting worse.  We hate to do it but he will have to go into a nursing home from the hospital.  His wife can no longer handle the situation.  We're just hoping to find a place near all of us.

I told my kids that if we live long enough they may have to deal with the same thing...so get ready.  That old story is true....of..... "Be nice to your kids.  They're the ones who will be picking out your nursing home."

American Legion has this on the joke page:  An old man lay in bed dying.  He was on his last leg.  While laying there one day, he smelled something baking...."Peanut butter cookies, my favorite."  He crawled out of bed and barely made it to the doorway.  He stumbled down the stairs  finally reaching the doorway to the kitchen.  He looked and saw hundreds of peanut butter cookies cooling on the counter top.  He lunged for them, fell on his knees right next to the counter.  He reached up to grab one laying on the edge of the counter.  Out of nowhere his wife appears and slaps his hand with a spatula.  "Leave them alone," she said.  "They're for the funeral......."

Bye now.

Hello everyone:

We are having a so so day weather wise. Sun, a little wind, showers but it could have been a whole lot worse.

This evening I have a meeting to attend. Me thinks it will be an early dinner.  Macaroni with tomatoes & hamburg mixed together then toped with shredded cheese.  Desert will be served later in the evening.

Janet

It seems to be sort of a slow day on CP.  Fast Eddie, that is an "OUCH!" joke.  :)  It is so hard to see our parents' health failing; but even harder if it is your spouse; and maybe hardest of all when it is your kids.  Life is uncertain at best.

Darrel and I have watched a lot of the coverage of the aftermath of Katrina.  Those poor, poor people!  And I wonder if New Orleans will EVER recover.  And just how many from the many countries the U.S. has helped through the years will be showing up with offers of help for us?  None, would be my guess.  This is every bit as devastating as the tsunami, I think.

We are ready to go to church, just waiting until it is nearer time to go.  We will go a little early and see if the youth need any help with their ice cream making.  :P  Our cherry ice cream is g-o-o-o-d!  :P ;D

Karen, thanks for the Kitten name suggestions.  I am considering either Serena or Melanie.  She is a pretty laid back kitty, and I want her name to reflect that.  But more suggestions are welcome.  Darrel much prefers one syllable names for pets.

See y'all tomorrow!

Oh!  Papa John, I want to say again how glad I am that you came back.  I look forward to your posts, and especially to the very appropriate and applicable scriptures you include each time.  You are a blessing---thank you.

Sue

Etta Sue, I always try to give my all when working.  That way I know I've done the best I possibly could.  I was forwarned about the hours, but having only worked an average of 15-20 hours per week all summer and then WHAM 30 hours over two weeks, I Know I'm going to be tired.  It also won't leave much time for the job search but I will plug away and still try to get my resumes out.

Mom.....yum.....
