JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Psalm 81:10

The fulness of God waits on an empty vessel.

This great principle shines everywhere from Genesis to Revelation. The word principle hardly expresses what is meant; it is too cold. We would speak of it as a grand, living, divine fact, which shines with heavenly lustre in the gospel of the grace of God.

It is when man gets to the end of himself in every shape and form—his bad self and his good self, his guilty self and his righteous self—that he begins with a Saviour God.

This is true at the starting post and all along the way. The fulness of God ever waits on an empty vessel. —C. H. Mackintosh

Abiding, O so wondrous sweet!
I'm resting at the Saviour's feet;
I trust in Him, I'm satisfied;
I'm resting in the crucified.
C. B. J. Root

It was a lovely dinner at the church I had to go over at about 5:30 to help get stuff ready, make the coffee and light the candles. I have had a long day so I left as soon as I ate my dinner.

I brought home a piece of chicken and a piece of steak to share with the dogs tomorrow. It is pouring rain here and I have to convince the dogs to go out to potty before we go to bed.

My right leg has been really bothering me a lot this week the last two days have been so painful that I have worn my brace all day long, then today i was pushing the wheelchair and walking a lot with Versal, I took her to the hospital for some tests and then to the store.

The last two nights I have had to take Ibuprofen and an Ultram for the pain. I have had to take them during the day too. Wednesday I go to the Dr for my flu shot and I am gong to ask to have x rays done on my leg and knee.

QuoteJane, that's so very sad about Ed.  I'm sorry to read that.  What a terrible accident.

Thanks Pat.  I agree.  Ed is really Ed Jr. His parents were my pastors when I was 12 years old.  They have been in my life all these years.  Their two boys were my sisters' age -- younger than I -- As young pastors they have told me, many times, how much help my parents were to them in the church.  They say my dad kept them from leaving on more than one occasion when things were tough.   :)  I have always loved and respected them.  They are now 86 and 91 (I made a mistake last time  :-[)and still great examples of Christian Love.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Good morning all.  Thank you for the devotional again Pat.  Martin Luther once said this:

"It is God's way to make something out of nothing, that is why He cannot make something out of him who is not yet nothing."

Marilyn, I was sorry to read about the pain and I do hope that the doctor will be able to get to the bottom of it.

Jane, I am so sorry to hear about Ed and can't believe that such an accident could have happened at a hospital, but your possitive attitude about the whole thing is right.  He is at home now and with his saviour.  I do trust that his family will be able to come to terms with what has happened.

Pat, thanks for the instructions on the yogurt.  I have seen a yogurt making machine in a catalog.  Will buy it for sure.

Janet, I hope you have a good day at the pumpkin patch and I'm glad to hear about your grandson's success.  Sorry to hear about the trailer getting trashed, but it sounds like the new ones will treat it with more respect.

Anyway, must go.  I hope everyone has a truly blessed day today.

Anthony.

Hi everyone.  I will get the day started with a posting here before I heard out to coffee and then to do some monthly grocery shopping.  We are meeting friends at 1 pm at a new restrurant and then will go back to their new place to see it.  They recently moved into a retirement community and sold their other home.  All that was done within two weeks.  The lady recently had breast cancer surgery and is in the recovery period so we won't stay long after seeing their place.

Jane, that is certainly a sad situation and such a freakish accident.  I do feel for his wife but she couldn't be two places at once and this could have happened had he gone home and she had stepped out.

Anthony, glad to hear that your mother is home and doing well.  I will let you have all of my portion of the yogurt.  That is something I really don't like, unless it comes out of the ice cream section of the store, i.e. frozen.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of your pain.  Are you still using your stretching machine at home?  Glad you had such a nice dinner.

Pat, thanks for the fine devotional and the hymns you have been posting.  We sang hymns at Calvin Cove this week and they really enjoyed it.

Janet, it sounds like you all have a wonderful, but full day, planned for today.  That should be a nice change of pace.  Thanks for the info on Beth's rehab situation.

Ruth Ann, rest up today and recharge for next week.  You work too hard.

Karmat, those little ones are so entertaining and it is so cute when they are learning to walk.  We keep encouraging them, of course, and then when they learn the "running after" doesn't stop for a long time.

Carol, I am sure you are doing well with the online bill pay.  I would sure hate to go back to the old fashioned way.  I have always hated writing out checks.

Time to head to coffee.  Hope everyone will have a wonderful day and weekend.

What a fitting meditation for this day.  We know we are to rid ourselves of
our "bad self", but more than too often, we want to hold to what we deem good.  Lord, help me to get passed myself....good and bad!  Ugh!  I stinketh.

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm about ready to leave for a 10 am meeting.  It's just down the road so not far to go.  In fact, I might walk!

Well, got to leave in a few minutes for the monthly men's prayer breakfast.

Larry - I've never done online banking, but I think I should learn.  I've used my VISA debit card both online and over the phone, but never "online banking."  Tell me how it works.

Larry Hanna

Al, it is very simple to use once you arrange with your bank to do it.  You should be able to find one that doesn't charge since you are a senior.  You just setup your payees with the pertinent information and then in future months you just choose the applicable payee and indicate the amount.  I you have payments of a fixed amount the same every month or quarter you can setup recurring payments.  You can always edit them or delete the payment in advance of the date you set to have the electronic payment made.  I do this through my credit union and they issue checks where they can't do electronic payments and there is no fee for this service.  Hope this provides some light.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Thank you Pat for the devotional, I have said many times that the Lord brought me out of my own personal egypt when He saved me from myself. And again when He brought me to McKinleyville and literally out of the desert.

No pain in my knee or leg this morning I asm so thankful for that. Today is my short day, I work for a couple of hours for Fay, then I will go but dog food and come home to do what I have to do here. I really need to work on my assignments for the Web design class I am two lessons behind.

Al online banking and bill paying is very easy. I pay my SBC, Cable and a couple of others online. We will talk  ok? I do it by electronic transfer from my account to theirs.

Hello all!  Travis and Nard have gone fishing in my sister's pond.  I don't really expect them to catch anything (it's  a wee bit cool), but Travis enjoys it anyway.  Then, sometime today, we are hoping to go out and take some pictures.

I just heard Kristi wake up from her mornign nap, so I'd better go check on her.

Hello everyone and have a great day!!!!!1

Pat

Al, I do all my bill paying online and have done since about 1997 when Jack got too ill to leave at home alone and I was so busy that I forgot some of my bills.

I now have my Avon order online and I pay it at a different bank but still online.

It means too that you can have a bill paid in a few minutes after getting it and then the invoice filed away till next month in no time flat!  It's wonderful.  And I've never had any trouble doing it either.

If anyone would like to see a great movie, go see 'Dreamer'.  Wonderful movie of a man, his father, wife and daughter and a horse.  Situated in Lexington, Kentucky, which is horse country.  Ivalou and I saw the movie this afternoon.

The cornfield is gone across the road from me.  I heard loud machinery this morning and got up to see a row or two was already gone.  Now I can see the highway across the field.

Anthony

Larry, hope you had a good time seeing your friends new home.  I like the idea of a retirement community and I trust that they will be happy there. BTW, I do a lot of my banking online now.  I pay a few regular bills and transfer money between accounts.  It sure beats waiting around at the bank.

Nita, thank you for the thoughts about the devotional.  Another thing that came to my mind is that we have to die daily to self.  It is not a once and for all thing - as you say, it is  good to meditate on these things.

Pat, I hope that you had a good meeting and a good day today  :)

Al, I went to a prayer breakfast this morning, but arrived too late for the food ::)  but the fellowship after the breakfast was great.

Marilyn, I am so glad that you are free from pain so far today.  Pain can be so debilitating.  I hope you enjoy your day today.

Karma, perhaps they'll catch lunch for you ;)  I remember when I was a teenager that I always fished in the same spot.  Week in and week out I never caught anything, but then I landed a rainbow trout - I never had a tastier dinner.

Pat, talking of forgetting to pay bills.  I always forget to pay the tax to my local authority.  I get a red letter every month.  One day I used it as a bookmark in my bible - it was the first red letter bible I had ever owned.

Etta, I have never heard of 'Dreamer' but I love horses.  I saw a movie called 'The Horse Whisperer' which centred around an injured horse.  I really loved the movie even though some of the storyline isn't very edifying for Christians.

Well, I am off to bed now and I do hope that I will wake up to many more posts.

God bless,

Anthony.

p.s.Janet, how was the pumpkin patch?  I wonder if  there will be any photos?

Hello Here it is  4:35 PST, I have had my shower and washed my hair and my dinner is cooking. I am having some of the left over steak and chicken from last night, carrots and a sweet potato, I already ate my Cole slaw.

I am  taking a leave of absence from my masters psp classes and quite the web design class to take a stationery class.  I had too many irons in the fire. My friend down the street gave me a 10 foot pics of cable so I can now move my computer to a better spot, However I have to get Gilbert over here to help me.. I have found that carrying heavy objects puts too much strain on my knee and leg..

Got to go eat now.

Anthony - we saw 'The Horse Whisperer' also.  Enjoyed it immensely (in fact, watched it again on TV not too long ago.)  I'm definitely going to check out "Dreamer."  Hope it's still around the end of the coming week when we get back from our little trip.

Thanks everyone for info. on online bill paying.  What I need to do is call my credit union to see if they do it.

The men's prayer breakfast was great, though we didn't have as many as usual, due to no email notification of it.
