Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus and Disciples
Mark 2:23-3:6  NLT

23One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of wheat. 24But the Pharisees said to Jesus, "They shouldn't be doing that! It's against the law to work by harvesting grain on the Sabbath."

25But Jesus replied, "Haven't you ever read in the Scriptures what King David did when he and his companions were hungry? 26He went into the house of God (during the days when Abiathar was high priest), ate the special bread reserved for the priests alone, and then gave some to his companions. That was breaking the law, too." 27Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made to benefit people, and not people to benefit the Sabbath. 28And I, the Son of Man, am master even of the Sabbath!"

1Jesus went into the synagogue again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. 2Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus' enemies watched him closely. Would he heal the man's hand on the Sabbath? If he did, they planned to condemn him. 3Jesus said to the man, "Come and stand in front of everyone." 4Then he turned to his critics and asked, "Is it legal to do good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing harm? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?" But they wouldn't answer him. 5He looked around at them angrily, because he was deeply disturbed by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, "Reach out your hand." The man reached out his hand, and it became normal again! 6At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to discuss plans for killing Jesus.

How would Jesus treat your personal traditions??

Jesus used the example of David to point out how ridiculous the Pharisees' accusations were (this incident occurred in 1 Samuel 21:1-6).

God created the Sabbath for our benefit, not his own.  God derives no benefit from having us rest on the Sabbath, but we are restored both physically and spiritually when we take time to rest and to focus on God.  For the Pharisees, Sabbath laws had become more important than Sabbath rest.

Both David and Jesus understood that the intent of God's law is to promote love for God and others.

When we apply a law to other people, we should make sure that we understand its purpose and intent so we don't make harmful or inappropriate judgments.

I am tired but it is a good tired.  Nancy and Walter are great people.  I can't believe the progress he has made in two years since his stroke.  He is suppose to be a vegetable according to his doctors but the man walks by himself, feeds himself, and talks too!  It was very windy today and spitting snow coming and going.  We made great time...two hours to get there, two hours there, and two hours getting back to their house.  Then the total of an hour and twenty-minutes for my driving my car....so I am tired.

A friend that graduate in 1960....same as me...let me burn 4 CD's.  Hit songs for my Freshman year, Sophomore year, Junior year and Senior year.  A total of 113 songs!  I love them!  Listening to 'Sugartime' by The McGuire Sister right now...a #1 hit during my Sophomore year!

Also, I forgot to mention that a lady had a flat tire at the end of my brother's drive this morning.  Noticed it when I took my trash out.  Well, she came here and I let her call her son.  A very nice lady...a Christian.  I know where she lives and works but didn't know her.

Two good samartian deeds done today.  I am jazzed!!

:) Hi Papa John
1   The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
2   The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

It is my hope SO many times if ones I love will find God.  I am sad of it so many days.  Some seek with all of heart and still do not find.  I know it is Gods promise that ones who seek will find him.  Why ever does it take so long for some.  How can they do Gods work if he will take so long to find for some.   :-[ I only do not undarstand it.  :-[

I wish for you all a very happy day.  :) <3 ::) 8) :) <3

Good Morning It is 57 * right here at my desk this morning. My heater won't go on so I have to call the Landlord this morning and see if they will get out here today to fix my heater. Needless to say I am cold this morning.

I only work 1/2 day today through Saturday. That will be a treat for me and give me a chance to do some more stuff around here. I do wish Gilbert would get over her to move this stuff for me so I can finish my unpacking.

Etta Sue thank you for the devotional today. I had just read that in my own Bible time this morning.

Tonight I am being a hostesss at a Mary Kay class for my friend Patty to try to earn some stuff for myself. Versal and her daughter who are related to Patty have already ordered some stuff that will go toward my class.

Mieka - the problem with those who take a long time seeking but do not find God is that they aren't really seeking God!  We often merely seek what we WANT from God, but we do not seek Him with the idea that we will obey Him, repent before Him, and seek to truly live a life under His lordship.  It requires a work of God's Spirit to move people to TRULY seek Him.  Often you and I don't know the hearts of those who supposedly "seek" Him.  If we could see from God's perspective, we would realize that they aren't TRULY seeking Him, but are only seeking a god of their own making.  To truly seek Him, we must bown before Him, allow His lordship over us in life, and admit our sin to Him.

It looks to be a busy day shaping up here in CP!  That's great!

I pulled my left hip flexor muscle this morning, so Kristi told me STOP, and had me do several different stretches to alleviate the pain.  She warned me that it will try to protect itself by contracting, and to do the stretches often today, and drink water water water!!!

The guys got the gas line fixed to the trailer, I have called for the inspector to come check it; then they can get the furnace going and I can get the painting done.  Oh, will I ever be glad when this job is FINISHED!!  :-\

My ladies all have other plans today than painting, so that means I have the afternoon to paint ceilings instead of canvases.  ???

Mieka!!  So good to see your happy post again!  I love you, girl!  You are such a ray of sunshine and a blessing to my life! ((((((many hugs))))))

Gotta get moving, hip is trying to lock up---can't allow that!

:) Aawww Ms Janet.  I love you  <3

<3 Mr Moak, I have a  ??? puzzelhead now about what is to seek God.

I did think it is to look for Him.  In the flowers and the new leaves and in all that is good.  To seek is not to look for him at all? And to find him in all that is a wonder?  ??? :-\

To seek, it is to follow the teaching and obey the word of God?

Is it correct?  ??? I did not ever think of seek in this way.  :-\

Did anyone watch the TV earlier which the pilot struggled to land his plane with no landing gear at Atlanta, Georgia?

What a time.  I was glued to the TV and I was certainly praying for that pilot and then to see a "text book" landing with no wheels was just amazing and no fire.

Pat :hello: those pilots have so much practice in the flight simulators that when an emergency arises they just do what has become so natural for them to do and they do it perfectly. I am told that all you have to do is listen to the voices on the black boxes and how calm those pilots are during the emergency. But I agree with you that it is so awesome to see how perfectly they do it.

Mieka you have a puzzlehead ??? Is it all in pieces for us to put back together then we will see you with a whole head.  :laff: :laff:

The maintenance guy will be here in about 1/2 hour to see what is wrong with my heater. I got home at 11:30 and hurried to get the floors clean before he comes. The dogs had been sliding around on the kitchen floor with muddy paws and left me a mess.

Aren't those great photos above on the Newsline?  Hope you click on them and let the photographers know how much you like them.

Marilyn, that's so true but still it was nerve wracking and what a great landing it was!

Time to sing again?  What wonderful words in this hymn.

Jesus paid it all back on Calvary's tree for us.

Sing it with me, folks!  I love the piano midi that Larry got for this one.

Jesus Paid It All
(Click to hear music)

Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3

Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.
Isaiah 1:18

Words: Elvina M. Hall, 1865
Music: John T. Grape

I hear the Savior say,
'Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.'

Refrain
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I'll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb.

Refrain

And now complete in Him
My robe His righteousness,
Close sheltered 'neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

Refrain

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone.

Refrain

When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
"Jesus died to my soul to save,"
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

Refrain

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I'll lay my trophies down
All down at Jesus' feet.

Refrain

Mieka - Psalm 14:2 says, "The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.  They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one."
To seek God is, as you say, to try to find Him,  And indeed He can be found in the beauty and wonder of His creation - but not until God's Holy Spirit gives us the ability, because, ever since Adam, we don't have that ability.  It's the same with study of the Bible - for that, too, we need the help of the Spirit of God.  If we sufficiently desire to find Him, either in nature or in His Word, we may ask Him for that help, and He will indeed give it.  But first we need to admit to Him that we have sinned, that we have lost our ability to know Him, and that we deserve eternal punishment because of our rebellion against Him (to go our own way and ignore Him and His commands entirely).  Having admitted our lostness, we can indeed come and ask Him to save us through His Son's sacrifice on the Cross.  We tell Him we've lost our ability to know Him, ask Him for His grace to know and believe, and, blessedly, He gives it to us.

Without these things, we cannot seek God, and the Psalm I've quoted here tells us that we indeed don't seek Him.  I say these things to you because I very much love you and desire you to be able to seek God and find Him.  I also greatly desire you to be able to help others do so also.

Janet

I'm back just for a minute or two.  I got the ceilings in three rooms painted, and I'm sure tired.  That overhead work is hard on the neck, shoulders and arms.  And I am so thankful to my heavenly Father for excellent health that allows me to still work hard.  I will finish it up tomorrow for sure.  The other rooms are smaller, but still there is all the cutting next to the edges.  No easy way to do that.

Mieka, you are a doll!

Pat, I saw just a bit about the plane and pilot before I left, and am so happy he landed safely.  Yes, they do use a simulator some, but the most of their experience is in a real plane.  Mark called home needing another $200.00 to pay the guy who was to go up with him for his test flight to get his private pilot's license.  He is loving every minute of his flying, and I'm tickled to see him so happy.

Tonight is ladies Bible study, and I am so tired and sleepy, it better be good or I might fall asleep on the table...... ???

See you all tomorrow.

What a wonderful explanation to our Mieka, Al.  I found it helpful as well.  Thanks!

Yes, Janet, what a landing.  Even the guy who was talking while it happened on CNN (Miles O'Brien who is a pilot) was amazed and said, "TEXTBOOK LANDING!" It was so good to hear that.

Ruth Ann, you travel safely to Atlanta.  How's that foot doing?  Have you been back to the doctor to see if the bones are knitting any better?  I surely hope that they are my dear sister.  You are so special and I want to hear good news.

Well, it's snowing and windy and horrible outside.  I'm waiting for company.  I'll be back a little later.

Love y'all!
