Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Jesus on Money and Worry
Matthew 6:19-34  NLT

19"Don't store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal. 20Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. 21Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.

22"Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. 23But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be!

24"No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

25"So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing? 26Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. 27Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not.

28"And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, 29yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you? You have so little faith!

31"So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. 32Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, 33and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

34"So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.

In what ways are money and worry related in your life?

To live for God and make his kingdom your primary concern means to turn to God first for help, to fill your thoughts with his desires, to take his character for your patten, and to serve and obey him in everything.

What is really important to you?  People, objects, goals, and other desires all compete for priority.  Any of these can quickly bump God out of first place if you don't actively choose to give him first place in every area of your life.

I got a lot accomplished today and a lot of nothing done today, too.  I have been sneezing and coughing...hope I am not coming down with something, too.

Kitty stopped by this evening after partying with her old classmates and some shopping.  She couldn't stay long...she has a hubby at home waiting for her.

Janet~I thought you were going to tell us that your granson pilot was going to take you to get Beth!  I have been in one of those small planes...I don't think Beth could get into one as small as the one I was on.  Also, my pilot was 85 years young.  But it was a great ride around Ludington, Michigan, seeing the lighthouses and the lake and the apple/cherry trees in bloom!

Marilyn~Get well.  Santa will be coming soon!

Janet~I watched a show tonight on Jesus and it seems if it can't be proven by something written and verified in history, then it wasn't true.  Also they were debating about the bright star that the wise men saw...was it Jupiter...or some other planet?  So if astronomy history doesn't prove a bright star, then it isn't so.  Also Jesus was born in the spring...why would a pregnant girl walk many miles in the winter?  And a virgin?  Perhaps the word was translated as virgin but the true meaning was 'young girl'.  And besides how could a virgin give birth?  I guess these people doesn't know the meaning of the word, faith!  And they certainly don't believe in God and God's Word.

Amen, Etta Sue.  I get so aggravated at the liberal, left-wing media I could just spit!  Well, I do sputter a lot.   I just say "It is in the Word of God, so it is TRUE, period."

I'm heading to bed, but saw the door was open, so had to peek in!

I have to say that I enjoyed the Morning Devotional.  I understand that we have to put God first and know Him in all that we do or wish to do if we want to be victorious in the end.

When life beats you down...ask God to beat it right back.

Good Morning it is 3:20 am I cannot sleep so I got up. My body hurts from laying in the bed and I have a beast of a headache.

Welcome Adri!!!  I see you are from South Africa.  My husband (nards656) has a cousin about 45 minutes outside of Johannesburg.  Her and her husband (and 4 kids) are serving as missionaries there.

I have learned a couple of things about debating faith with non-believers and those totally opposed to Jesus Christ.

1)  My faith cannot not be proven historically, physically, or scientifically.
2)  At the point I am able to offer proof for my faith, it is not longer faith.
3)  If a non-believer is trying to argue with me, a public forum is not the place.
4)  Most people who argue are not truly seeking anything but an argument.
5)  the best thing I can do is be prepared when they need prayer and encouragement
6)  Never take their arguments personally (even though they direct them at me, personally).

Just my random, rather off-topic, but almost there, thoughts.

Hope everyone gets to feeling better.  Get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.  Take care!

karmat

Janet

WELCOME, ADRI!!!  So good to have you with us!

Karma, you are right-on!  (As usual.)  Good thoughts to ponder today.

Great devotional, Etta Sue.  Reminds me of the verse (don't ask me where to find it!  :-[) that says "A man's life consisteth not in the things that he possesseth."  So true.  No matter how much wealth and worldly goods we can gather and pile up, I have never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul trailer.  We all leave it in the end.  The only thing we can take to heaven with us is people, and relationships.

Mark just called to say we don't need to leave as early as we had planned; that he and Curtis will drive to Liberal, get the plane and meet us at the Hugoton airport for our flight.  :) :)  Etta, it would be wonderful if Mark could go get Beth, but I don't think he's quite ready for that assignment as yet.  Give him another semester!  ;)

My coffee is done, see you later!

Have a great day!

Good Morning again, Thanks Etta sue for the devotional. Yesterdays and today seem to be just for me. <3

I am not going to worry about anything, In fact I am seriously thinking of giving up one of my jobs., so I can get back on Medicaid. They will pay the premiums on my medicare and insurance. It is just a thought though.

My temperature has come down  just a little but my head still hurts. and my ears  feel weird. Pastor Michele said she would bring the Z-pack by around 12:30 today after her radiation treatment. I really didn't want to bother her, but she tells me that she has no ill effects from the radiation.

Thank you all for your prayers. I can feel them and they are working.

It is really pouring rain out there this morning from what I could see in the dark it looks like it is just puddling up the ground is so saturated. I may need a boat to get out of here.

I don't see why you live in such a wet, stormy part of the state, Marilyn.  It's dry, hot, and sunny here (NOT).  Actually, the dry and sunny part is up there at about 20,000 feet.  It's beautiful up there - no puddles or anything.

Good morning, Adri!  So great to have you here!  Tell us all about yourself.  Where are you from, who else is in your life, where do you live, what do you do?  We're so inquisitive.

Etta Sue

Adri

I see we have a new member since I posted the devotional.  Welcome again!

What a beautiful morning God painted for us in Indiana.  Hoar frost.  Everything is coated in fuzzy frost!  And it is to be above freezing today...the warmest day of December!  I am sure it won't melt all the snow that is on the ground...really would like to have a White Christmas and THEN warm up!  But we can't have everything nor should we get everything we want.

Marilyn

Well I am up now again.  Just coming through here to check  the posts. Don't have anything to say right now.

Papa John

Well it has been a busy week here so far.  Martha has been off from school and every day has seemed like Saturday.  Last night we went to Martha's church for a special candle light service.  We sang all the old Christmas songs and some new ones.  We listened to the story of Jesus' birth again.  It was really a wonderful  time.

Today I have stayed in.  Cornelia gave me a huge sack of green beans which I snapped for her.  Hard work.  It took me a long time.  We are expecting all our family for Christmas dinner about 2:00 o'clock on Sunday.  I think there will be 29 of us.  I'm looking forward to having everyone together.

Etta Sue, a great devotional and appropriate especially when so much emphasis is put on material things.

Janet, the passage you referred to is the story of the rich farmer in Luke 12.

Luke 12:15-21    :bible:
15   Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
16   And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.
17   He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'
18   "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19   And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '
20   "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
21   "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."
(NIV)

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne
(Click to hear music)

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men
Philippians 2:6-7

Words: Emily E. Elliott, 1864

Music: Timothy R. Matthews, 1876

Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy kingly crown,
When Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem?s home was there found no room
For Thy holy nativity.

Refrain
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
There is room in my heart for Thee.

Heaven?s arches rang when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth didst Thou come to earth,
And in great humility.

Refrain

The foxes found rest, and the birds their nest
In the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod, O Thou Son of God,
In the deserts of Galilee.

Refrain

Thou camest, O Lord, with the living Word,
That should set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn and with crown of thorn,
They bore Thee to Calvary.

Refrain

When the heavens shall ring, and the angels sing,
At Thy coming to victory,
Let Thy voice call me home, saying "Yet there is room,
There is room at My side for thee."

My heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus,
When Thou comest and callest for me.

C:-)  You people who live in the Midwest or East are going to experience heavy, heavy snow within 3 or 4 days.  It's here (as rain) now, and it's coming there.  It rained all night, and it's still raining now.  It stopped for, maybe, 30 minutes a couple of times, then continued.  You'll see what it means when it gets to you.  ::)

Pat, you'll never believe this, but I was just reading that hymn in Larry's hymn selections a few moments ago.  It's a great one.

Pat

Good Evening Everyone!

Been a busy day for me...  I'm so happy to see Adri join us.  She is in bed right now but probably will be on when most of us are sleeping.  Adri lives in South Africa and she's the daughter of Vernon.

Hope you are feeling better Marilyn.  I think you've sent it to me.

Hope Janet had a great plane ride!  Hope to see photos!

I'll be back.

Jane Walker

Hey there y'all! I have been making phone calls to get all the statistics straight before announcing that Ms Makayla Janay made her debut on Monday, December 19...weighing in at an astounding 5 pounds 14 oz.  She is the first for her mother, my granddaughter, Tricia Janean (combination of my name and her mother Jean's)... This is great grandchild #8 for me!   :D

I am planning a trip to California next week and just decided today that I probably ought to take a camera along.  Whatta y'all think?   :)

Joy called today, also, to let me know she and John have arrived at his sister's in San Jose, CA.  They left 80º weather to come North to cold rainy weather.  She said she had to dig out her sweatshirts and warm pants and they are "a little musty" from being in a drawer for a while.   :-\  They will borrow a car and drive to the Sacramento area on the 28th so we will most likely be connecting with each other there next week.

Well, I gotta go ..... lots to do and miles to go y'know!!!    :D

Hey there Al ~ It hasn't been steady, continual rain here ... just rain... oh well ....
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Al Moak

Well it's been steady, continual, and heavy here.  I think that as soon as we have a little more here in our little hollow - enough to float us - we'll just float on down to the ocean.

Contgratulations on your new GG.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just a brief stop tonight.  This has been a long day but good one.  After coffee this morning, I went to Calvin Cove and we sang Christmas songs until the dinner was ready.  I wasn't able to stay to eat with them, as I had been invited to do, as we needed to get to the hospital where are daughter-in-law was having surgery.  Our son called yesterday and asked if we would come and pray with them before her surgery.  Of course we were happy to do so.  She was in surgery for 3 hours and had 3 disks in her neck removed and new bone put in and a rod inserted so that things will fuse.  We stayed with our son until the doctor came out and said she was out of surgery and was doing fine.  As it was supper time we stopped and had some Mexican food.  Our son called around 8 pm and said she was doing fine and that he was staying the night with her at the hospital.  She should be able to so home tomorrow.

I have read the postings but am just going to say good night as I am tired.  I should have more time and renewed energy tomorrow.

Nita

Hi, everyone.  Larry I'm happy to hear that your daughter in law is doing ok after her surgery.

Al, you must be in the rain belt, eh?  As Jane said, we've had rain here most of the day, but off and on.  Not a steady rain.   Too bad you aren't a surfer.  You'd be a happy camper, huh?  Maybe you are a surfer, and I don't even know. :)

Pat and Marilyn.  Marilyn, get well quickly.  Pat, don't take Marilyn's. ok?

I forgot to tell you that I spoke briefly with Mieka the other night on Yahoo and she said to tell everyone hi.  So, hi. :)

Welcome Adri.  If God is working on your heart, and it sounds like He is, just respond.  Simply respond.  He'll do all the rest.  All He wants to do is love you.  Don't even get hung up on all you've done.  God's in the forgiving business, and the washing business.  Let Him do it all, cuz if you try to do it yourself, you'll miss something.   You're already sorry.  That's in your posts.  If you'll lay your heart at the feet of Jesus.......and keep it there, no matter that you don't "feel" it now, He'll come and lift you up and restore you.  That's a promise from the Word of God.  Hugs to you, Adri.  Nita

Hi Nita; Pat. Sorry to hear that you are feeling poorly. I am feeling better though, I don't feel sick, I start coughing then it is only the sound. I am taking my Antibiotics. Tonight I have to wear the Oximeter. Tomorrow I am going to clean up the house and get it ready for Saturday. I don't know yet if the kids are coming or not. When I called Sarah she said she didn't remember that we decided last year to make it a tradition for Christmas eve at my house since Christmas day is always at her parents. She said she would talk it over with Gilbert and have him call me.

I want to thank everyone for the prayers.

Nite nite now

We are safely back home after a really nice day---weather-wise and otherwise!  It got up to 77* here, can you believe that?  During Christmas week?  Unbelievable; but so enjoyable, too.

The plane ride was swell, and of course we are so proud of our sweet pilot!

Abby came home with us, and I need to get her into bed pronto.  I will talk to you more tomorrow!  ^-^
