JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed Thy strength unto this generation, and Thy power to every one that is to come.
Psalm 71:18

The dear, older writer of Psalm 71 did not regard the colour of his hair as an inhibition to tell forth to the coming generation the experiences and blessings of a godly life.

Though into the "senior years" of his life, he had a passion to tell it as God alone would enable him.

The words of the psalmist in verses 18 to 24 are an encouragement to today's older saints to keep on showing, singing and speaking of the righteousness of God and to praise His name.
--Duncan Maxwell

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,
out of my life may Jesus shine.
Make me a blessing, O, Saviour I pray,
make me a blessing to someone today.
Ira B. Wilson

Make Me A Channel Of Blessing

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ,
as though God were pleading through us:
we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20

Words and Music: Harper G. Smyth, 1903.

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying,
The Savior Who died on the cross?

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the Word of salvation
To those who are dying in sin?

We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from known sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.

Good morning all.  I trust everyone had a good sleep last night.  It's very dull here this morning, but looking forward to the day.

Larry wrote
QuoteJust wanted to stop in a share some good news regarding our daughter.

What a joy to hear Larry.  I did not know you had this anxiety to cope with during last week, I am so pleased that the results were negative. May God bless your daughter real good.

Thank you Pat for the devotional this morning.  It is good to know that God isn't ageist, we can be a testimony to His goodness right until the end of our lives.

Have a great day everyone.

God bless,

Anthony.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Thought I would check in again this morning before going to coffee.

I slept very well last night with the weight lifted off concerning my daughter.  Thanks for the comments.

Unfortunately our trip to Fry's yesterday afternoon was a wasted trip as my friend wasn't able to use the CPU he purchased as it was for a different type of settings on a Motherboard.

Anthony, we have a bright day here in Georgia with the chance of late afternoon showers again.  We had some thunder last evening but no rain.  It is suppose to hit 90 here today.

Janet, it was encouraging to read your last postings.  It sounds like Beth is beginning her process of adjusting to her new surrounding and perhaps finding it nice to have folks available up the hall to check on her and assist her as well as not having to worry about meals.  I hope they resolve her room situation soon so you can get her settled into an environment with some of her own things.  Does Beth like to read?

Sara congratulations on getting the most votes for your fine photography.

Judy, that was a funny piece.  Someone had sent it to me a few days ago.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Morning Great devotional this morning Pat.

The party last night was  great, there were so many people and  practically all of them were family, there was quite a bit of food left over so I fed my neighbors when I got home.

I looks like the sun just may stay out all day today.  Maybe it will dry  the grass up enough to mow in a couple of days. I have my new mower stored across the street in Bill's garage since I have no place here to keep it  dry and inside. We tried it out yesterday on his lawn. I am so thankful that God gave me this place to live, my neighbors are so friendly and helpful. What a wonderful blessing.

Hi Anthony and Larry.

Pat maybe you could tell me how to change my secutrity setting so that I can see the weather icons. Although it might me in the  setting from the cable company too. In the poll did you mean the evening meal or the noon meal? I never eat the evening meal  in a restaurant. However I go to dinner/lunch quite often with Jan. The evening meal is Supper in my vocabulary.

See all y-all later.

GÔ¿ÔD Morning!  It is a big weekend here in the States.  Memorial Day weekend where we honor those who have left this world.  Also in the Indianapolis area, it is the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race!  I used to know every driver, their starting positions and listened to all the race.  Not anymore.  They took the joy out of it when they changed the rules a few years back.  I only know one driver, Danica, a female driver that is in the race this year...I think 10th position.  Most of the other drivers, I can't even pronounce their names!!  So it is just a long weekend for me and I plan to stay home and rest...vegetate!

Kind of overcast today....hazy.  I don't know the temp...after I post I will see what my temp thing says!!!

Well, here we are.  It's the day of what's called the "Kinetic Sculpture Race."  Each entrant builds some sort of vehicle with wheels, etc., possibly using existing bicycles, wagons, etc., etc., and they all gather at the Plaza in downtown Arcata (six miles north of Eureka, CA).  At exactly noon, all the "vehicles" began moving on a prearranged route, heading out toward the local town of Samoa, then Eureka, ending at the Bayshore Mall in south Eureka.  It takes many hours over a couple of days.  On the first part of their route they pass the house of our pastor.  Many of the people of the church gather there, share "finger food," and watch the "vehicles" go by until about 12:30 or 1:00 in the afternoon.  So that's where we'll be today.

Pat

Good Morning!

Sounds like a very interesting day, Al!

Nice to see you all.  I have to hurry.  I want to clean the car and then I'm going out later and won't be back till this evening.

Don has been cleaning the computer and I had to sign in again as I was not logged in here and SeniorNet as well.

I do have a stress fracture in right foot and spent hours at a clinic yesterday but now have a soft boot with a support & will wear this for three weeks until  the orthodicts are ready.  It feels better already & I do believe that I will be able to still do a lot of things around the house.

:coffee:  My coffee has chocolate cream swirled in it.

Anthony:  I read that you had concerns with your daughter and send my love and prayers to you.
It is so good to have you posting.

JudyB:  Hi - loved your jokey post.  We need the uplifting notes.

Papa John:  It sounds like Cornelia is doing much better.  That & the news about your granddaughter is just super.

Janet:  It was a stress fracture - this can be healed, at least I hope so.  I am so glad to hear that Beth is getting a larger room and her dog as well.  Surprised at the dog being allowed - she is young & the entire change has to be almost overwhelming but the good news is that she will get the therapy & care & you & Darrell will feel much more relaxed about her care.

Adri:  So, you are headed into wintertime.  It can't possibly be as cold and snowy as Colorado, USA.  Can it?  Try not to worry about the future job as everything does work out.

Samantha:  My best wishes to your husband & prayers for his health.

I am reading a bit of Romans.

Good morning!  Yes, it is Memorial Weekend here in the U.S.  Darrel's Mom and his sister usually make the trip here from Amarillo to put flowers on the graves of his Dad, Uncle and Grandad.  But she called me and asked if I can take care of that (I offered when we visited her in Amarillo) as his sister hasn't been well for some time, and anyway, why drive over 400 miles to do that, when we live right here?  So we bought some things from Diane and I will go do that, probably tomorrow afternoon.

I have Abby and her friend Elizabeth here for "a sleep-over at Grandma's" which Abby has been begging for, for some time.  Picked them up yesterday, take them back this afternoon.  (Whew!)  They are good girls, but my energy level isn't up to par this week...  This morning we went on the wildflower tour, but it has been so dry and so hot, there isn't much to see and they grew tired of it rather quickly.  Now they have a picnic lunch all packed, so that's next on the agenda, then swimming again.  I will visit Beth while they swim.

Well, the news for Beth is not good....AGAIN.  The admin. of the care home wrote her a rather snotty letter yesterday, and basically it said she can NOT have her dog, and she can NOT have a bigger room, that SHE (admin) NOT Dr. Plumlee, is in charge around there. :( >:(  Some people just can't tolerate their CONTROL being threatened.  So now we need to see what we can find in the way of furniture that will fit in the tiny space available to put her TV, stereo and a few things on and still let her turn her chair around.  Sigh......

Diane and I will take Beth on Monday down to Boise City, Okla. to visit their dad's grave, also to attend the dedication of the Veterans' Memorial there which includes his name.  If time allows, we may go by the small town in Colo. where my Dad is buried.  And if Beth gets along okay, and we can handle her bathrrom needs, etc.

Sorry, I got too windy again!

Larry, I am rejoicing with you about your daughter's good report!!

Hi, Anthony!  Hope to see photos from you sometime soon.

Hello to everyone else, I don't want this to get any longer just now.

Good Morning folks!!!  Yes it is a good morning.  If the clouda are swirrling around you remember above the storm the son is shining, and HE will break throough the clouds soon.

Here is a song that I heard on the radio yesterday that I thought a lot of you wourl relate to.

Navigation: C \ Casting Crowns \ Praise You In This Storm
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as You mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will life my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

God Bless all of you and May you see His hand at work in each situation!

Anthony

Howdy all.  I've had quite a nice day as my sister comes to the house to help out a little.  She took my mother to the hairdresser and then we all went for a cup of coffee.  I saw a friend there who is 91 years of age.  He walked about 2 miles to the cafe on two walking sticks.  He has Parkinson's Disease and a few other things too.  I was flabbergasted when he told me he had walked all of the way.

I was having fun looking at everyone's temperature gauges and feeling a little envious of the nice weather some of you are having.  I think Al is the only one who is colder than we are here in the U.K.

I am just waiting for the carers to come and get my mother into her night clothes.

Larry, it is so nice to  hear that you had a good night's sleep last night.  I am sure that the whole family are rejoicing in the good news.  I trust that you have had a restful day today too.

Marilyn, it was good to hear that the party went well last night and I hope that the left-over food will be put to good use.  It's nice to hear about the good neighbours, that sure must be a great blessing to you.  Have a nice day sister.

Etta Sue, well the temperature gauge says 89F, it must be sweltering.  We rarely get into the 80's in the U.K.  I hope you have a restful weekend.

Al, that race sounds like a lot of fun and I hope the church members have a good time watching the vehicles.

Pat, have a great day.  Later on, you could clean my car if you liked.  I haven't washed it in weeks

Carol, I am so sorry to hear of your stress fracture and I sure do hope that you recover quickly - God bless you at this time.  (BTW, I never married and haven't any children.  You must have been reading about someone else).

Janet, it seems incredible just how unfeeling those people are.  One wonders why they speak like that to someone who is so poorly.  I do hope that Beth will be as comfortable as possible in her cramped room.

JudyB, that was a great song to post on the forum.  It sorts of fits in with the text at the top of the devotional today.  Christians are never more Christ-like
than when bearing their cross.
Thanks so much for posting the words.

Well, I would like to get some praying done, so I will sign off now.  God bless all and see y'all later.

Anthony.

Sue

Hi everyone.  I've been kept busy with many things and now finally have some time to visit here again.

Al Moak

Well, Sue, it's good when you can get a moment to breathe, so I'm glad you could check in.  We went and saw the Kinetic Sculpture Race go by, and there were at least 30 people there from the church to see it and eat together.  Good fellowship.  You should have seen some of the contraptions that went by!  I would have taken pix, but I think my battery is out, so I need to check that.

Janet

Al... :(  I'm disappointed that we won't be seeing photos of those contraptions!  Sounds like a fun way to spend some time.

Anthony, it was 103 degrees here today; and it is still MAY!!  What will it be, come August??  Whew!  I'm so glad you have help with your mother.

Sue, good to see you back and hope you are doing well.

Carol, it's good you know what's wrong with your foot/ankle, so you get the help you need and not be hurting with every step.

I took my little girls home, visited a bit with Diane and Mark, who is now home for the summer, and now I will either go vacuum my car, or collapse.......(choices  :-\  )

I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow.  I guess I will be going to church alone, as Darrel went with Jeff today to move the Grandkids and Beth will attend the church services at the care home.  It's okay, though, God is with me.

Ohhh, Sue.  It's so lovely to see you.  Lots of changes since you were last here.  Say "Hi" to your Mum for me.

We'll have to get together for a coffee.

Janet how can those people be so cruel to just put it in a letter and be so mean about it. There are better ways to communicate with others. Can you get her into another place? Is there another place near you?

Hi Pat you posted while I was reading.

Things to all those who voted for the caption that I  posted. "I hate making these decisions, it all looks good." or something like that.

Al I have a friend in the Kinetic Sculpture race, he enters every year. Robert Thoman. I don't know what his sculpture is though.

Anthony  agree it is good that you have some help with your Mother. I do that kind of work.   I am a Care Provider, remember?

This is it for me toight. I am signing off
