JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

God meant it unto good.
Genesis 50:20

Joseph's brothers were frightened. Jacob had just passed away, and in their minds the last restraining influence that was holding Joseph's retribution back was gone.

But there was no anger and no vengeance here. Joseph had seen God's good hand in the bad times. He knew that God allowed these
extreme difficulties to happen--He had woven (lit.) it for good.

Perhaps we have been broken up and battered down by the experiences of life.

Like Joseph may we see that God allows these tests in our lives to bring good.
--Craig Funston

Wrung from the troubled spirit in hard hours,
Of weakness, solitude, perchance of pain,
Truth springs like harvest from the well-plowed field,
And the soul feels it has not wept in vain.

Thinking in terms of revenge is so tiring.  It drains the energy and spirit out of you.  As opposite as it seems Forgiveness is so much easier.  Thing with forgiveness, when you forgive you are not saying what a person did is olk, you are saying you will leave the revenge up to God, and you pray for the person.  In all reality that is much easier.

OK I am off my soap box.

We are having a clothing exchange at church tomorrow.  I have sorted some wonderful clothing, and boy some are barely used.  With the cost of clothing this gives some good exchange for what you bring.  There is no exchange of money, and a lot of people can't afford to buy new.

I am really tired, so night all

Hi everyone.  Have about 9 minutes before I need to leave for coffee so will go ahead and post.

This is Grayson Day in our local park.  There will be a parade, entertainment all day at the pravillon, and a lot of booths with people selling their wares.  I doubt that we attend as there is a lot of walking involved and parking is a problem and I just don't have a lot of energy.  They close off the street in front of the Cafe so will have to go a round about way to pick up my friend to take to the cafe.

I got an excellent report from my cancer doctor yesterday.  My PSA continues to come down and is now 0.13.  I don't have to have another test for 4 months and won't see the doctor again for 8 months.  I believe the cancer has been squashed.

I finally got my computer working well yesterday so the redo was worth it.  Now I need to get some webwork done that has backed up.

Grumpy Pat please don't be discouraged.  I hope your headache is gone today.

JudyB, the clothing exchange sounds like a great idea.  Hope it goes very well.

That is a very good devotional this morning and I think many of us can well relate to it.  Thanks Pat.

Marilyn, I have been using the IE 7, beta, for the last several weeks and like it.  In fact, I am using it at the moment.  I did find that the Google Calendar feature won't open in it yet as it is not supported by Google.

Hope everyone has a good day.  Let's enjoy this day that God has allowed us.

Marilyn

Good Morning: I love the devotional today Pat. I am so thankful that the Lord put forgiveness in my heart. I learned to forgive from my mother and was a very forgiving person even before I got saved. However I was not one to forgive and forget or even come close to not bringing it up again. I wasn't that forgiving. After my salvation the Lord taught me to not bring up those hurtful things of the past.

Larry The only flaw I have found so far with IE7 is that my google toolbar spell checker doesn't offer suggestions on correct spelling anymore. I miss that.

Well I am going to get a load of laundry started and get dressed now so I will be back later.

I too appreciate that devotional.  Oh that we would always remember that our God is absolutely sovereign - in total control of all events in time and space - and that we humans can't see beyond the tip of our noses, so don't realize at all what God is accomplishing through earthly events.  May our God remind us of these things, especially when seemingly negative events happen in our lives or in the world.

That's even true when people slight us, hurt us, etc., so revenge isn't the answer, as Judy points out.  Forgiveness frees us, but grudges enslave us.  Holding a grudge doesn't punish the other person, but it sure punishes us if we hold it.

Of course a lot of people don't even realize what forgiveness means.  It just means "writing off the debt."  It means not holding grudges against others - and leaving it all to God.

Well, I gotta go get Marbeth up now.  This is our shopping day at Winco Foods, a great discount grocery locally.

I love the words in the S.C.Chapman tune... "God is God and I am not. I can only see a part, of the picture he's painting. God is God and I am man, so I'll never understand..."

Thank you Pat.

Thanks for the devotion.  I think we are growing when we recognize our own faults.  I hope so.  I tend to want to talk about my hurts and criticism from others to others.  Like when dealing with a service and they don't do right.  But now when I tell others about what that service did or didn't do, I even recognize that I sound like I am ranting and raving.  Like I am mad at the world.  And I am not.  I look at the people and they are looking as if they are thinking....here she goes again.  I must stop that.  I am not that mad at what a service has done...just ticked off a bit.   :idiot:

Marilyn, all the guests are gone now.... :-[

Grumpy Pat,   Hope the toothache is gone....gone....gone!  here I was just thinking....how can I free myself away from the computer more and get moving outside, inside, in the car, anywhere, anyway and you want us on CP and posting more.   :'(  And it is summer when I have to be out and mowing the yard and doing yard work.  I just don't know.  We all have our priorities and right now it is my health and the need to walk for two reasons....deterioration of bones and high glucose.  So to be here for years, I need to move!!

I will be here as much as I have been but maybe not more.

Etta Sue, We are all praying for you! I know what you mean about getting out more, I should probablly do it too. There's a pastor here in Texas named John Hagee who's fond of saying "The best thing on television is the off button!" I suppose it could go for the computer too, The request for more involvement (From everyone) Need not put any pressure on anyone.

I think what Pat may be suggesting, correct me if I'm wrong, is for all of us to be more involved in the site as a whole, not so much the quantity of visits or posts, but the interaction with each other.

Etta Sue, I'm sorry I haven't said this sooner...I love the little GIF's you put on your posts, they are one of the highlights of my day. :)

Marilyn

I am just stopping for for a quick check on all y-all before  leave for  work. I have done a few load of laundry and my dishes set up my sewing machine for after I get home to hem some slacks.

Pat I will try to post as often as I check here.

Etta Sue I m trying to get out and do more walking with the dogs, I need it and Happy sure needs it.

Pat by the way give us an update on Geordie, How is he doing?

The new photos in the Blue challenge are looking good  friends, you are doing great work. I put in one that is not a photo but of some PSP work that I did with a Swan. I hope that also qualifies in the challenge.

Ok time to leave and hit the road to Fay's place.

I am soon going too be mowing.  Woohoo the grass is growing and will look wonderful when it has had the first mow.  I am looking at building a rock garden on a hill i have as well at the bottom of the hill I am planning a pond.  I need to get at it soon,while the ground is wet and moveable.  We have a rototiller, but the ground becomes like cement once it is dry.

It is 18*C in the shade, much warmer in the sun.  The girls have gone for a walk to our beaver pond.  If they are quiet the will see the beaver working.  Soon too soon the blackflies will be out taking chunks out of our hide.  Hard to believe such small insects can be so brutal. They are far worse than the mosquitos up here.

Pat HOW IS GEORDIE???

Well I am off for now.

Have a good day everyone.

Marilyn

Home from work now took both dogs for a long walk each I got in about 2 miles walking them one at a time. Now I am going to have some tea efore I do my vacuuming and get started with hemming my slacks.

He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: Alfred H. Ackley, 1887-

I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He's always near.

Refrain
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.

Refrain

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving so good and king.

Refrain

HYMN HISTORY:

Rev. Alfred Ackey (1887-1960) was preaching during an evangelistic crusade. After the service he was trying to persuade a young man to give his heart to Christ, when the man said, "Why should I worship a dead Jew?" Ackey stated, "HE LIVES! I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now! Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before. I can prove it by my own experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands." Later that evening the young man gave his heart to Christ. It was during this experience that Ackey wrote not only the words but also the tune for our hymn, "He Lives."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him He's always near.
In all the world round me I see His loving care, And tho my heart grows weary I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
Amen Chris!
We are having a lazy afternoon and evening.  We are all feeling weary this afternoon even the puppies are asleep.
We will have an early night tonight and an early day tomorrow.  It will be a nice change.  We are taking Elizabeth out to dinner at Swiss Chalet tomorrow.  Extended family is going too.  Well night all and be back tomorrow.
JudyB
Oh I don't know if I told you all but a couple of weeks ago the girls found the beaver dam had been damaged.  It seemed that someone was out to get rid of the beaver.  Well they are back.  The kids saw the beaver in the pond and the dam was in the process of repair.  It was an enjoyable lesson for them.
Pat
Hi Chris...  Yes, I was grumpy!  I admit it. :ticked: :ticked:  I'm ok now--I hope.
Judy, get some photos of the beaver dam.
Yes I will.  I want to take a chair, a good book, some bug spray, and my camera and see if I can get some good photos of the beaver at work.
Pat as far as you being grumpy, I have a hard time believing that.  I have seen your humour at work when all the chips were down.  Thank you  for that.
I was craving something sweet.  I have made some blueberry pancakes.  Want some Pat?  I have made more than we will eat.  They will make good breakfasts for the girls as they rush to their school work.  I will be making waffles as well.
Well good night all again
Judy
Pat
Night Night Judy...  Yes, I'd love some blueberry pancakes!  ;D
Well, it's time to lock the door folks.
