Prior to GPS, road trips were conducted using paper maps (which you could never re-fold correctly after unfolding them!). Even shorter car trips were made with directions scratched on a piece of paper. Getting there was not guaranteed. But today, drivers will leave the east coast by car, headed to California, with nothing but their smartphone. Because of GPS we can head into the unknown with confidence.

For similar reasons, the apostle Paul wrote that we can bear, believe, hope, and endure all things because of God's love in our life (1 Corinthians 13:7). Because God is love (1 John 4:8, 16) and His love is in us (1 John 4:12), we can go into an unknown future without fear. We can love others and love God because we know that nothing "shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

It was love that motivated God to reach out to mankind (John 3:16). That same love allows us to respond to Him and others in perfect faith.


Our response to temptation is an accurate barometer of our love for God.

Larry Hanna....strange thing was this morning, whilst I got to church with five to ten minutes to spare for once, gave me a little time to chat as I walked in, and was greeted...I found myself telling one lady that the distance to the village hall will be too far for me to walk, even if I took my rollator... she said it will be her giving out the church notices and will be mentioning that lifts will be available from the church to the hall, she has already made a note that I will be needing a lift....After the service and drinking our teas, there were very few parishioners today at our morning meeting, as many had gone to our sister village church where Communion this week was being held....I got talking again to the same lady after she had spoken and given out  the notices, I had picked up on her accent and asked her if she was American, she wasn't but she WAS Canadian...

Larry, I am sorry to hear, once again, your Pat wasn't up to attending church with you....

Jeanne Lee...think I would rather put my trust in God, in keeping us " on the straight and narrow, " than one of those GPS thingies such as Garmin, they are not always reliable, not that I have ever had the need to use one...but have been known to get people lost, or in a pickle of a mess... :P

We won't need a GPS to drive home.  We are leaving AZ a month early for a few medical issues - thankful that we are able to drive back.  We surely will take our time and make it a day and half trip at the least.  Our children will have the house ready when we arrive - so blessed.

Jackie:  It sounds like you have found a wonderful new home - church, I mean.

When I got to where my hospice  lived, I found out she had passed away 2 weeks ago.

It is a beautiful day here but there is a cold wind blowing.  Went to  church this morning and forgot to take my lyrics with me for my song, so I will sing "It is well with my Soul" next week, I have also picked a song to sing for Easter, called' I know My Redeemer Lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj-pZQ_XjyU  I must tell you that I lo9ve to sing and worship.

Hi everyone.  We wake to an overcast day with the prospect of rain increasing through out the day. We expect to get to bout 75 degrees here today.

The activities surrounding the Master's Golf Tourney got underway yesterday although the actual tournament doesn't start until Thursday.  This is a week not to venture over to Augusta to eat out as the restaurants are packed from what I understand.  Many businesses depend on this week to get them into a profitable position for the year.

I haven't decided whether I will go to my Monday noon meeting or not as still feeling tired this morning.  Yesterday I ended up not going to church as my heart was acting up and I felt it wasn't safe to be driving.  So I ended up spending most of the day laying down and also went to bed early last night but still didn't want to get up this morning. I did go out at noontime and got us something to eat.  I fear I am reaching a point where I am going to have to cut out a few things from my schedule, although don't have a lot of things to cut out and hate to think about giving any of them up.  Guess I will just make the decisions day by day. 

Jeanne, I often hear Erwin Lutzer on the Christian radio station we have in this area.  He is a very good preacher and serves as the Pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago.  Thanks for getting us started on a new month.

Jackie, glad to see you made it to Church yesterday and that you spoke up about the help you needed to get to the after Church event. I agree that God keeps us on the straight and narrow.  My GPS has let me down a time or two but has sure been a gift with our move to a new location in finding our way around. 

Carol, sorry to see the reason you will be cutting your time in Tuscon short this year.  Nice that your home will be ready for you when you get back.

Marilyn, I am surprised the Hospice group would not have let you know about your last client.  That must have been a shock. I like both of the songs you mentioned and the Easter song is so appropriate for that day.  I expect our Church will be singing that as a hymn on Easter Sunday.

Marilyn:  Hospice should have alerted everyone involved with their patient.  Sad day!

The little Grapefruit Tree is now picked and neighbors have the fruit.  Most of everything is packed here - Don will go to the VA today and we are trying to redo the Going Home list since it disappeared from the computer.  Yes, the little dickens computer has taken it upon itself to merge our information but deleted an important list.  Gremlins in the system.  Anyway, we have another good day of work here.

Jackie Yes that is where I take Freckles. We take the dogs only if the patient likes dogs. I guess I do have a decent voice if the pastor is  asking me to sing. He was surprise that I have a wide range from  High Tenor to Bass.

Larry They usually do let our Hospice coordinator know and she notifies me but it didn't happen this time. she also  does volunteer work at the Hospice office so she will tell them about it.
|Today I am teaching 2nd graders about  Pet responsibility and safety. Tomorrow it is Kindergarten and 1st grade.

Howdy, Y'All!  I'm now using my brand new iMac!  It works great, and will be even better once I get used to it.  I took it and my old laptop to Curtis as he was staying home with his girls over the weekend, and he got it all set up for me and transferred the stuff from the old one.  But I had to laugh, as he had shown me several things last night before we brought it home, but this morning after we unpacked it and set it up, neither Darrel nor I could find the way to turn it on!  I had to call Curtis and ask! :D I was still talking to him when he walked in the door, as he was nearly here when I called.  He was coming to do some business in Ulysses.

We have Wheel of Fortune on, and there is a couple from Hugoton on it tonight!  That's where Diane and Jeff live, just 28 miles from here.  I called to ask if she knows them and she does.  Neat to have someone from way out here on it!   :)

Marilyn, I didn't answer your question about whether or not my new computer has a touch screen, as I didn't know yet.  The answer is no, it doesn't have.

Little Chelsea lost her first tooth the other day.  She was so excited, and had wiggled it and wiggled it, and was finally able to pull it all by herself.  She got FIVE whole dollars from the tooth fairy!  :o  I told her that tooth fairy must have made really good investments since I was a kid, because the most I got was a dime!  ;)

Larry, I'm sorry you aren't feeling strong, but so glad you know your limits and take it easy on days like this.  We all love having you around!

Carol, sorry you and Don are having to cut your time there short, but we all must do what we feel is best.  So glad your kids are preparing the house for your return.

Jackie, nice that you will now have rides to church.

I saw photos of Pat, her son and youngest grandson on Facebook.  I got the idea that she and Paul were on a trip visiting, but may be mistaken about that.

Hi everyone.  After a rough day around this area yesterday with heavy rains and several tornados in our county and in Augusta, across the river, this is a exquisite day.  It is clear and sunny and we expect to get to 85 degrees this afternoon.  However, the forecast for tomorrow is more of what we had yesterday and then it is to cool down and clear off and should be perfect for the Master's Tournament, which starts on Thursday. 

I just completed fixing Pat's scrambled egg and strawberries breakfast and then grated two pounds of cheese, which isn't hard using the grating appliance we have.  The hardest part is cutting the cheese into strips.  I plan on trying to get to Aldi's today as the refrigerator is getting low on several items.  That will be the limit of my endurance for today.  Fortunately I know where things are located at Aldi's and the store is small. 

Carol, that would be frustrating to have your information merged with Don's and then to lose an important document. Hope your preparations for your return trip are going well.

Marilyn, I am glad it wasn't your Hospice coordinator who dropped the ball.  If she wasn't advised of the death of the patient then she couldn't advise you.

Janet, glad you are now set up and using the new iMac and liking it.  You will soon learn to navigate it.  However, it is bad when you can't get it turned on.  :)  That will be a fun story to tell over the years.  I saw the couple of Hugoton on the Wheel of Fortune but don't remember how they did.  We think the Wheel is the fastest 30 minutes on television as it seems to be over right after it starts.  Losing a first tooth is a big deal especially if you can pull it yourself.  I would say the tooth fairy was very generous.  Does Chelsea have any concept yet of the value of money?

Jackie, in your profile I see a blue strip above your basic information titled "Summary".  If you don't see that, did you try clicking on the "Profile Info" button?  That should give you a drop down menu of choices, one of which should be "Summary".  Also, do you always make sure to log in before checking your profile?


Now I have a question for anyone... Instructions for my hearing aids specify not to let them get wet.  This means, of course, that for every shower and shampoo I need to remove them completely, which means I can hear absolutely nothing over the sound of the running water.  Does anyone know of a way to keep the shampoo away from them?

Jackie I apologize for not replying to you about the video. All I can say is Oh my MS certainly takes a toll on ones body  sometimes in a short time. My DIL is no where near that yet.

Janet glad you have your new computer up and running.

Larry I hear the Windows 10 has a new upgrade come out  called Creator something or other. Do I need to do a mirror image of my hard drive before the upgrade, what do you know about the Macrum optimizer also called ReflectDL?  Agust is where my son Ron is working on that nuclear plant, however at this time he is visiting in Arkansas.

My Subaru is leaking water almost as fast as I put it in, So it will be going to the shop very soon. Keith's Camaro is still in  the shop  and he will never ever let me drive the corvette, well maybe is his life depended on me driving his baby. So I am having to find rides to the furry friend activities that I am committed to.  Tomorrow at least  that  rehab facility is just A  few blocks from home and I can walk there,

Jeanne Lee, I have no problem with my profile in S & Fs, yes I get all of it...I tend to always stay permanently logged in on both sites...
On here....if I click on, " Profile " + Summery or " Profile " + Account Settings...the same page comes up on both...
I do have my " Modify Profile.." with six menus underneath...and my " Profile " with three menus underneath but as previously mentioned the top two bring me onto the same page with " Username - Email -  Choose password...etc...I seem to be missing " Profile Info " Summery - Show Stats - Show Posts......Hope I am not confusing you, starting to confuse myself now.." :D Oh well, what is to be, will be..."

Oh, what a day this has been!  It rained all night, and all day!  And it snowed, too!  I guess it was "snain"--snow mixed with rain!
  ;)  And only in the mid 30s, temperature wise.  I only went out to the mailbox, all day!  That's very unusual for me.  Really good sleeping weather, and my eyes wanted to do just that!

We had a most unwelcome and unpleasant thing when we got home on Sunday night.  Our cat sneaked into the house and hid--I think she suspected we were leaving.  When we got home and saw she had been inside all that time, we looked all over for cat "piles" but didn't find any.  However, when we got into bed----UGH!  The SMELL!  It was just awful!  Then Darrel moved his arm, tapped my elbow and said, "I found the reason for the stink."    That darn cat had peed on our bed!!  :ticked:  And she managed to get both bottom twin sheets wet (thankfully we have a good mattress cover on each of them.  But she did it right in the middle of the bed, so it soaked through a heavy comforter/bedspread, the electric blanket, top sheet and got through all the way.  You probably never saw two people get up and strip a bed so fast!  She must have done it more than just once, to have soaked so much.  When I got up in the morning, she was looking at me through the door into the garage.  I usually let her in and spend time cuddling her, but I just told her I was not happy with her and she could just stay out!  Of course, later I relented and let her in.  Darn cat!  That bedspread/comforter is probably at least 12 years old, and I was wanting a new one anyway.  And I was able to wash the blanket, but the other is just too heavy for my machine.  TMI, sorry.

Larry, Chelsea is six, so she does know money is to buy things, and that if she saves she can buy more, but no real concept other than that, I don't think.
  Yes, the story about turning on the computer will probably get a lot of mileage among the kids and grandkids!  I used to say, before I started using a computer, that I needed a class that started with "This is the "ON" button!  And this time I really did!  :lol:

Jeanne, I sure don't know of any way you could wash your hair without danger of getting your hearing aids wet.  I'm sorry.  It's terrible not being able to hear!  I can still hear pretty well, but the acuity isn't very good, so I would miss a lot without them.

And just using CP leaves an icon on my desktop now, so I won't have to bother Larry, after all!  I guess it isn't really an icon, but it shows several of the last places I visited, and that works!

Marilyn, I hope you can get your car repaired soon.  I cannot imagine Darrel not allowing me to drive his car.  He let me drive the Lincoln the day we bought it!  And the big pickup, too, and that's his baby!  I don't prefer driving it, it's so BIG!

Larry, the couple from Hugoton won $7000 on the Wheel.  Nice!  And I agree, that 30 minutes passes in a flash!

And speaking of Wheel of Fortune, it's starting!  So I'm going to watch it!  See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone.  It looks like we are in for another stormy and dangerous day around here with heavy rains, flash flood warnings and good possibility for more tornados in the area. Fortunately I have no reason to leave the house today. 

As I look out my office window is appears it is evacuation for our neighborhood as there is a large United Moving Van that was here all day yesterday and back this morning and another smaller van loading up from the neighbor across the street.  I spoke with that neighbor to say goodbye a little while ago and she said they are moving into a bigger house with a large yard for her two boys to play in and it has been hard on her living here as her mother, before she died, lived across the street and in the house next to us.  I will miss seeing the boys playing but they had to mainly play in the driveway and street in front of her house. 

I was on the phone early this morning with Comcast as my home closed wi-fi had stopped working.  The tech seems to have fixed the problem and all seems well again. 

The only thing on the schedule for today will be dinner tonight with Scott and Jennifer.  We will be having dinner here as there is no dinner at church the week of the Master's Golf Tournament.  Pat has one dish casserole planned for dinner and hopefully Jennifer will help make it unless Pat decides to go ahead and get it ready before hand. 

Marilyn, it is always a good idea to back up anything you don't want to lose.  I have never used Macrum Reflect DL so can't really help you there.  It sounds like your Subaru is going to require some expensive repair. 

Janet, I like your new word "snain".  It sounds like it was a good day to get some extra sleep.  We had a similar cat experience when we moved into our brand new house as the cat used the edge of the dining room to pee.  We couldn't get rid of the smell with shampooing and other things and had to pull up the carpet and replace the pad.  He had been very upset with being moved.  Glad you now have an icon on your desktop to get to CP.  That was a nice win for the Hugoton couple.

Larry My Subaru is going to cost about 1100$ to fix. The water pump will have to be replaced with the Timing belt, The water pump could be the reason for the leak, The towing was $85 and included in the bill. The diagnostic test will have to be run that is $51. in the total estimate. He is going to try to have my car for me by Friday. Keith's car will be taking a lot longer, the head gasket needs to be replaces as does the manifold gasket. Plus some other stuff.
How do you do and image backup of the hard drive onto a thumb drive. The thumb drive I have is  only 32 gigs.

I will soon be leaving for something going on at my church this afternoon...not too sure but it is an annual thing that I was told was a success last year and many turned up...it is to start at 2.30pm, just over an hours time, something to do with children from a school, or Schools coming in to sing, I am looking forwards to it even though I now have the starting's of a cold...I can expect the church seating's to get packed out, and will need to stay close to the loo...It is just me going, Richard of course will be taking me...I shall take my mobile so he knows when to come collect me.. :thumbsup:

Hi everyone.  After a rainy and dreary day yesterday the sky is clear and it is cooler here this morning.  It is going to be a nice day at the gold course for the start of the actual Master's Tournament and the rest of the week is suppose to be the same. 

We are down to one moving truck this morning and it is across the street.  I expect they will finish up soon.  The huge moving van was parked in front of the house next door lst night but was gone when I came to my office this morning.  So it is undoubtedly on its way to Texas.

This will be a busy day as planned now but I will just take it hour by hour.  I will go to coffee, making a brief stop at Walmart as I pick up my friend.  Then, as usual, will bring him home and go back to the Wisdom Class if I still have enough energy.  If we continue to have problems with our wi-fi I will likely take the Gateway modem back to exchange it this afternoon. 

I will have to be brief in comments today as don't have much time before I leave and still need to put together a sandwich.  Pat has given me a break this morning as she is fixing her own breakfast.

Marilyn, those timing belts need to be changed periodically as if they break it does a lot of damage to an engine.  Glad it isn't your radiator that is leaking.  Hope you get your car back tomorrow.  If your have more than 32 gigs of data to mirrow, which you undoubtedly have on your computer, I doubt that a thumb drive would work.  Since you are wanting to make a mirror image I would think it would take a backup source equal to or larger than what is being mirrored.  However, I am no expert on this subject and use a different back up approach by storage my files on the cloud.

Jackie, I hope you enjoy the program at your church today and that old cold is a very light one or doesn't develop at all.

Well I did go but I never got out the car, and with ten minutes still to spare....Briefly for a few seconds sat outside the arched porch-way, whilst watching a twofold or threefold line of small children all decked out in blue uniform, slowly, or at a standstill, being ushered by teachers, along the windy footpath to the front of church door, and inside, blocking the part where the loo was situated, of which I was needing the loo...So there was absolutely no way with my balance and walking, would I have managed to walk behind, or get past, so decided rightly so, in making the decision to give it a miss, and come right back home....Whilst passing several young moms, dads, even more teenage children still walking towards the church, all decked out in casual jeans and dark clothing... as for me, I was totally decked in light summer skirt...I know I made the right decision in not going in, as it would have been very packed inside the small space....with my poor balance, and my blurred vision, if I was to bump into any children or, go down, no-one would be able to get me back up, something I would have to do myself....today, I wasn't prepared to take that risk...

Jackie, it sounds as if you made the right decision in going right back home where you are safer!  While I know you would likely have enjoyed the children's program, we have to use our best judgement in those situations.

I am having some hang-ups with my new Mac, the main one being I seem to have forgotten my Amazon password.  Since I get a lot of books for my Kindle from there, usually free, I need that.  And I guess I will have to resort to calling them, as the email I sent has gotten no response.

Beth has been refusing her meals.   :'(  I encourage her to eat, and she usually responds well to me.  They came to church last night for the Wednesday night supper.  I asked John in advance to let me feed Beth, so he could have a break and enjoy his own food.  He accepted that well, and by feeding Beth small bites of the lasagna and green beans, avoiding most of the noodles, all of the salad, which she loves but hasn't been able to eat for several years without choking,
then cutting the fruit small, she ate the entire meal without choking!  Yea!  And I noticed John was eating slower, too, much better for his stomach.  Her friend Mindi is coming to visit her today, which always makes her happy!

We are going to Garden after attending the Lenten Luncheon, to buy a new rototiller, as our old one won't run anymore, even after lots of work on it.  It was really old.

The Republicans just deployed the "Nuclear Option" and Judge Gorsuch WILL be confirmed by tomorrow night!!  Sad that such an eminently qualified judge couldn't be confirmed with a big majority, and not have to resort to this, but there is no end of stubbornness and obstructionism in the Senate, I guess.

Marilyn, what year model is your Subaru?  I had one, many years ago, and it was sure a dependable little car.  That's the only car I ever bought on my own,
and I was single at the time.  Kerri ran off the road in the mud and smacked a telephone pole with it, while she was in High School.  Thank God, she wasn't hurt!

We need to pray fervently for our President and other leaders.  These are dangerous times, what with Syria, China, and North Korea acting up; and maybe Russia too.  I wouldn't want Trump's job for all the money in the world!!  And he is doing it for no pay!

Larry the Radiator  is where the leak was, but it was still under warranty   as they had replaced that a year ago so I don't have to pay for that. However the timing belt and water pump will be replaced and the spark plugs and all the wires. one of the plugs was fouled with oil so they are taking care of that too. It will be almost $2000 for my car.  Keith Camaro is 17 yrs old and never had any work done so it  need a lot more than mine and will be slomost $4000 by the time they finish with it.
