JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Heh, everyone.

Thanks for the comments on my picture.  I think I know how to be younger.  Get silly. :)  And let the gray in your hair do its own thing.  Actually I took some silly pictures of me for my kids.  I'm never very silly, so it was just for fun.  My oldest daughter said she loved the sparkle in my eyes. :)  I posted it here because it just seemed the thing to do. lol

We have a dusting of snow here.  I'm not sure about downtown, but in my yard there is snow.  At the moment I see sunshine, so it will be gone soon.  I have to start my car to melt the ice on the windows.

Pat, I know I've missed a lot here.  What is your ultra sound for?

Jeanine, I know just what you mean about the stress level of trying to get your husband to take care of himself!  I remember Ron would get so angry at me when I tried to tell him not to take the prescription strength Iboprofen (however you spell that)on an empty stomach.  He did for years.  He'd take them with coffee too.  It was awful.  It finally took his life.  He said it was the only thing that stopped the pain.  I know, at the end, he didn't care if it killed him.  But...praise God....he came to Jesus in the hospital before he died. :)

By the way...I have great veins.  That's what they tell me when they take blood.  And I've been blessed with great blood takers, and tell them so. :)

Gotta run and try to find a parking place at the post office.  I need to mail a package for my sis.  I tried yesterday afternoon, and gave up.  Parking is terrible, and people line their cars up out into the street, waiting for the next spot.
Have a blessed day everyone.  Nita

QuoteI posted a new profile photo of myself.  It's been too rainy to get out so I have been shooting myself.  I decided to have some fun.   I usually don't like my picture taken.  I can't take a good one, so I decided to take a funny one.

Well I like your new picture too, Nita, but I really don't think the rain outside is so bad you should shoot yourself!

WET PANTS

Come with me to a third grade classroom..... There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it.. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.

The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from
now I'm dead meat." He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher
with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.

As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and
inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.

The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!" Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of
ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.

She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz! "
Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Susie whispers
back, "I wet my pants once too."

May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good.

Nita the picture you took of yourself is lovely!

The saga of the elevator has continued.  Most of the tenants from the 5th floor have moved out to another location.  We don't know if this is permanent.  There are only a couple of people left.  Not many for mother to talk to.  She feels like she is in jail, poor lady.  I wish I could "do" something for her but it is not possible at this moment for her to move here.

We are back into the deep freeze. -22°C for the last couple of days.  John was away for the last couple of days, and we had the luxury of sleeping in a bit today.

I was talking to a friend and we are about 2 feet short in the snow depth this year.  HE was saying he needs it for doing Maple syrup.  The sap will be running soon, not sure this year when to expect it.  This same friend is giving us a used snow maching to help bring the wood out of the bush.  HE says that there is no monetary value left in it, so we are getting it as a gift.  Thank you Lord!

I must go and finish up schooling the kids, will be back later.

Nita I have tried taking photos of myself in the past but did not like how they turned out.  Maybe I an do better now  with the digital and tripod. I just have to see how to  do the self timer thing,.

Ruth's doctor appt went very well. He took her off that other med and prescribed a different that  calms anxiety as well as helps with the confusion/dementia.

Sunny day today and not one raindrop fell on my head :)  Talk of snow tonight and Amanda is in Victoria until 10 PM at a Art lecture.  Hope she gets home okay, Wendy just mentioned how the temp. is dropping quickly.  Think that goundhog got a little confused this year!

Wendy and I went to try something new to us.  A Platinum Energy Foot Spa treatment that helps reduce toxins in the body.  It was most pleasant and I have not felt this relaxed in yrs.  Expensive tho' so I can't afford many treatments.  Wendy is going to try the Infrared Therapy Spa and I am going to try a Bio-Mat treatment, two weeks from now.  We are going to try things that might help as neither of us are doing too well in the pain dept.  It is a wellness clinic that works along with the acupuncture she has every week.  They may get an Infrared Spa if it helps her, as possible to use in the home with low power use and only small area needed.  Health products are helpful, but our bodies are both too damaged to continue without some serious help.

What does this latest attack on Christianity mean?  I am referring to the film that will be shown this Sunday on Discovery Channel, about 'The Jesus Tomb'.  We no sooner get over one attack than another one starts.  I plan to watch it in order to see how they twist truth this time!  But my heart is not the least bit troubled and can only pray that it doesn't weaken and destroy others, as Satan would so love to accomplish that goal.

Time to go.  Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

karmat

hello everyone!

nice picture nita!!  it makes me smile.

about the dog poem -- it was probably my van that hit the poor thing.  It seems to be an animal magnet lately.  In the past week I have finished off two 'possums and a cat (in my defense, bernard was driving when we hit the cat).  we tried to avoid them all, but 'possums are stoopid and that cat was fast.

i'm feeling kinda better, but still a bit "off."  Not sure what is going on with nards.  He works a lot, I know, but he has felt crummy for a long time now.  :(

I don't remember how many of ya'll remember my nephew Brooks.  He is the one that is two months older than Travis, and in the early days of CP, he had a serious illness (Kawasaki disease) and ya'll prayed for him.  On Tuesdays, we pick him up from pre-school, and he goes with Travis and Kristi to my mom's to play with them.  I have heard some of the cutest conversations coming from the back of the animal magnet.  Today's deserved to be preserved somehow, so here it is --

(This is Brooks, age 5, talking to my son, Travis, also 5)
Travis, if you find yourself walking on the devil's road, you have to turn around and walk on Jesus's road.  'Cause if you don't, and you keep walking on the devil's road, they throw you into the brimfire and you get burned.  And, they tie you up so you have to stay in the lake of fire forever.  You can't get out.

But, if you walk Jesus's road, you don't get tied up.  You go to heaven and play and stuff.  And fish.  You get to fish there.  And skip golden rocks.  And the rocks will skip all the way around and over the river, and they will skip as many times as you want them to.
(/end Brooks)

The skipping the golden rocks part cracked me up.  The kid is hilarious.

I'm going to run now.  Actually, running has nothing to do with it.  I'm getting ready to go to bed. :)

Al, I saw this too but chose to ignore it.   ;D  I happen to  know that Nita loves the rain and this musta been just a slip of the tongue ... er pen ... keyboard.   ;)

I love your pic, Nita.... looks like the Nita I know and love.  Also, what's with the comment that you don't get silly very often ..... I 'member times when we both got pretty silly together ... don't you?   ;D  Oh, well..... I still like the new photo.

I have also been pretty quiet around these parts ... other parts are a different story, tho.  I love all y'all and read here every day (several times a day, actually) and pray for your concerns and rejoice in your victories.

Take care, all y'all .... I'll be back... really I will.   :)

P.S. Karma, that's really cute about Trav and his cous ... Kids are really somethin' else, aren't they?  Can't help but love'em.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi all.  I will be brief today as shortly I have to head to Atlanta to have my pacemaker/defibulator checked.  This is just the routine check that is required every 3 months or so.  Fortunately it is another beuatiful day here.  Tomorrow it is suppose to be heavy rain.  Sure glad my appointment wasn't for tomorrow.

Today is the day they are finally suppose to try to fix the Comcast Internet problem.  Pat is staying home as someone has to be here.  Mind you I am confident the problem is somewhere else but if someone wasn't home when they call they will cancel the appointment.

Nothing else much new here.

Marilyn, glad to read the doctor had changed Ruth's medicine.

Good to see all the postings.  Liz, sure sorry to read of the continued pain problems for Wendy and yourself.

Pat, was sorry to read that Judy McK has had to have more surgery.  Hope you are feeling better day-by-day.

Janet

I'm just buzzing through to greet you all.  I'm going to help Darrel move an alarm system in Liberal today.  Busy, busy..........

I wish you all a wonderful day!

Hi Everyone...

I just have a minute.  Seems like the good old days with posts from both Karma and Nards in here.  Sorry you've both been under the weather.  that was such a great conversation between Travis and Brooks!!

I had a phone call from Norm a little while back and he wants to go down and see Judy in the hospital in Hamilton so I will go and get ready and we'll leave at 12 noon.

I just so enjoy reading all your posts.  And your poems Colin are just amazing.  Don't stop posting them.

I must go and get ready.

Love y'all!

We have a lovely day today but tomorrow is to be not so nice.

Colin:   Another wonderful poem
Nita:    I like your picture and you have lovely blue eyes.
Judy:   It will be great when the elevator in your MIL apt. is repaired.
Pat:    Continue to get well - say hello to Judy M and also safe driving.

To everyone else have a great day and those that are not well get better soon.

Hello, gang :)  I'm feeling a good bit better today, still not quite at the top of my game.  Not even sure where the top of the game is, or maybe even where the GAME is!

Larry, I sure hope you get that Comcast mess straightened out.  We live with an aggravating Internet situation, too, and it's amazing how much we depend on it.

Janet, we had to have a new burglar alarm system installed here at work this week.  Someone had broken in last week.  They didn't seem to take a lot, though.  Most burglars seem to take the first thing of worth they see and run because a serious burglary takes a lot of work.

Hope all of you have a good day!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

We had one day of nice weather so I was able to clean the oven, vacuum & spiff up the place.  Now iti is snowing once again although lightly - up to 20 plus in. in the high country so that will mean avalanche danger.

Nita:  Cute picture
Pat:  Sending angels (if I can) to be with you on your drives in this weather.  Sorry to hear about Judy once again - Enough!
Larry:  It sounds like you are getting everything you need fixed in your house - & good to have that heart appliance checked as well.
Ruth Ann:  So many people have that carpal tunnel surgery - I hope it does the trick for you.
Liz:  Would you believe that a visiting pastor ( a very quiet person) came to our house when we were much younger - I had to step out of the living room to care for one of the babies & came back to find Don sound asleep in his chair & the pastor quietly sitting there - it was embarassing to say the least.

It is the 4th. Wednesday of the month & on the 2nd. and the 4th. one is quilting at the church.  The roads are not too bad so I will go and help and giving thanks that I don't even need to take Aleve generic this week.

Hi  all y-all, I didn't get around to posting this morning that I can see. I thought I may have come in to say hello as I read all the posts. The sun has come out of a little bit so I have walked both dogs.

The new med the Dr. put Ruth on is Zyprexa. I do hope it helps her, Although right now until the drug gets into her system it is  sort of rough going for me. I am having to wash and dress her every morning. It is like caring for an adult size  toddler. I am going to speak to her son about hiring someone to work weekends so I can have  two days per week off.

Darrel and I got that system installed!  And we have several more to do.  It seems in the alarm business it it feast or famine.  (Nothing to do, and then lots to do, all at one time.)  Their system saved them recently, as someone did break in the back door; but they heard the keypad buzzing and apparently that scared them off.  Another customer (the one we are installing more cameras for) had people break in a door and they were stealing his stereo system out of his pickup.  Pretty stupid, because they were on camera, and also their wrecked car was there in the shop as well.  They said they only broke in to get their stuff out of their car.  Who ever said burglars were smart, though?

When we stopped by to see the kids, Abby was approaching the store, coming from school on her bike.  After greeting and hugging us, she went right to the time clock and clocked in---she's on the payroll now!  :)  Today, her job was pulling weeds under the benches in the greenhouse.

Nards and Karma, so good to hear from both of you.  Cute conversation from the 5 year olds!  And both of you---get well soon, please.

So sorry about Judy Mc.  Hope the trip to visit her went well, Pat, and that you are taking care of YOU.

And now it is time to go to church, so any further comments will have to wait.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

The little white truck is "in hospital" - the transmission is slipping. :(
So, I'm fearful of driving between here and Atlanta, especially in the wintertime, with the potential of serious problems.

I, too, am really sorry that Judy McK has had to endure another surgery. Larry, hope all your day was a good one. Marilyn, sometimes (as I'm certain you ALREADY know) it takes a while to get the dosage established with this type medication.

I had to ask the doctor to intervene with my insurance coverage for they wouldn't let me fill two of his prescriptions. Now, it seems that they have them marked as pre-certified and so I picked one up at the Sam's Club Pharmacy today, and the other one should be in the mail in a few days.

I'm really thankful for the good messages I read in here. What a good group of friends!

Pat, do take care of yourself. Hope you're feeling better. JudyB, multi-generational problems are sometimes difficult to resolve. I'm sorta headed that way, so am trying to be a VERY good gal, and make good, sensible plans for the future.

Janet, my work is also feast or famine. So I understand that concept PERFECTLY! :)

Jane and Nita, it's so good to see y'all here. I understand about reading and then being a little "fly on the wall" and not writing, but you both know we love y'all and welcome all your posts. Same for Nards and Karma.

How I'd love to meet all of y'all in person!

By the way, if I didn't call your name, just attribute it to poor memory - please forgive me, and have a good rest of the evening, anyway.

Ruth Ann

karmat

good evening all!

I finally got rid of my headache sometime this afternoon.  that was aggravating to say the least.  ugh.

not much going on here besides that.  i'm enjoying reading about each of all ya'lls days.

take care and have a good night.

JudyB

I took Elizabeth skating today.  It is the first time on skates for her since she broke her leg in '01.  I also think it is the last time on skates.  She did not enjoy the time on the ice at all.

We have a new gizmo on the kitchen wall this week.  It measures hydro use and we can moniter what is using the power the most.  The girls have made it a game to see how low they can get the readings.  The lights are going "OFF"! !  Wish I had this monitor long time ago.

Oh good news!  Looks like March is going to come in like a lion here in the north.  It is unusual that the weather is so different from the south of Ontario.

Well it is late, and I am going to have a soak in the tub with some bubbles, then off to bed.

Night all
JudyB

karmat

good morning everyone.  gray and cold in WNC this morning.  the kids woke up raring to go, so i'm just running through for now.

take care and have a good day!!

Carol

I am not looking forward to Saturday night at church.  They are losing money big-time and have paid a pastor from Denver to speak about giving.  We have been in the black for years and I have mentioned this newer pastor who was hired has not been keeping parishioners.  At the same time, the budget has been increased. They are having a dinner & pledging just at the time Don has been mentioning we should go and visit some other churches once in awhile.

Tied quilts at church yesterday & scraped the sidewalk there - these bones are aging too quickly. ???

JudyB:  A power monitor is a good idea and what a great learning experience for the children.  Tell Elizabeth that you know someone who learned to ice skate at the age of 28 - the neighbor girl ran to tell her mother that an old woman was skating really funny - I hope she tries again.

Marilyn:  That sounds like too much physical work for you.

Carol

Marilyn

Carol thank you for caring. I don't feel like it is too much physical work for me "yet". I'm sure there will come a time when it will be and I will have to stop working all together. I spoke to her son yesterday and he is going to work on a budget, he also has the authority to put her in a home. Whatever he decided is best for her that  will be what is done. I don't want to see her go into a home. That would be so heartbreaking for her. I am very protective of her.

Good
..Awesome Bible Study last night, breakthrough prayer time before and after. God is moving in  Abundant Life Center through the Womens' Ministry leaders. We are all leaders. It  just happens that every Wednesday night there are 11, 12 or 13 of us there, not always the same people come. God know's who will be there and ministers to those  He has chosen. I wish all you women could be there. No one wanted to leave.

Quick good morning to all of you!  Pouring rain here in Candler, NC and 46 degrees F.  We'll see how the new ditches in our driveway are performing when I go home for lunch.  I'll have to move the van into the garage, too, so Karma won't have wet kids when she takes them out to Walmart this afternoon :)

Have a great day!

JudyB

Good morning everybody.

We have been having car problems, the CV joints on the right side of the van have caused a bad wabble.  John took the van to the mechanic this morning and found out we have to replace parts on both sides of the front of the van.  HE has gone to get parts and we will be up and running soon.  Our pastor, Dennis, set up an account at a local parts store for those who would like a discount on car/truck parts.  We get garage cost which is a big savings compared to the garage price.  Anything bought under the name "Unfinished Business" reseives the reduced price.  We alone have saved thousands of dollars in the 11 years this has been available.

Karma good to loose a headache.  I understand what that is like.  Hope Nards feels better soon.  I am praying.

Sarah I am praying about your back/sholder.

Marilyn Just take care not to over do it, and get some rest.  I get tired just reading what all you do!  Am praying for you sis.

Carol Elizabeth is a little timid when it comes to physical stuff.  We have tried Gymnastics, and swimming.  The timidity is there in all of it.  I am hoping to fulfill her desire to ride horses this summer.  That is a long way off the ground, and I wonder what she will think of that.  It is so interesting having one child with no fear, and another with a lot!  It makes for an interesting life.

Ruth Ann it is rough having vehicle troubles.  Especially when you are alone.  I have the advantage of having a pastor who is very mechanically minded.  He has kept our family motoring when John has been away.

Pat any update on Judy Mc?  How did surgery go?  Let her know we are all praying.

Well got to run, I have school to deal with
Love JudyB

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am hoping the Internet/phone problems are over.  New line was run from the box at the street to the house and it seems to have solved the problems.  I have decided to still switch services for both TV and Internet, although the Internet I want won't be available here until May 8th.  If Comcast would have provided responsive service I probably wouldn't have changed either one.

Like the situation with Nards and Karmat, it is raining off and on here today.  Earlier they said the whole state was under a tornado warning but we don't seem to be.  I purchased a new weather radio today.  One of the TV stations had partnered with Krogers to sell the weather radios for about half the normal price.  We have needed one and this was a good opportunity going into spring.

We are going out to dinner shortly with friends and then to their church for a concert with a large choir.  We are looking forward to it.  Tomorrow a friend from Maryland will be here to visit during the day.  We thought his wife would be coming but wasn't able to make the trip.  His son lives in Atlanta so we see them occasionally.

I don't have time to write individual comments this evening but have read all the postings.

Janet

Good evening.  I'm late getting here today, but nothing noteworthy has been happening around my neck of the woods, anyway.  We had about an inch of pretty, fluffy snow last night, which melted off rather quickly.

I have read all the posts, prayed where needed or requested, laughed at the proper times (I hope!) and enjoyed reading what all of you have been up to lately.

I'm rather tired this evening, so I'm going to watch the news a bit before dinner.  I think Darrel is frying a chicken!  :)
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Marilyn

Janet Fried Chicken sounds good. I haven't had fried Chicken in quite awhile. I did eat some Mar Far Chicken at the Chinese Restaurant Tuesday, that was deep fried. But good ole sounther friedn chicken would be so tasty right now.

Not much new here either, I will go  prepare Ruth's dinner  shortly then home to  fix mine. I Have stuff in the freezer to fix for myself. Maybe a salad and some  Tuna Casserole.

JudyB has your pkg arrived yet?

Stopping in to see if Janet is alright - Kansas had storms today, I believe.  What a terrible day for those in midst of the storms.

Marilyn:  Glad that you enjoy your Bible Study group.

Sarah:  Prayers for your sister and nephew.  You are too young to be having shoulder pains.

Nards:  It is kind of you to put the van under cover for karma.

Judy B:  Isn't it funny that children so close have such different personalities?  Nice that your pastor can tinker with you vehicles as well - he sounds like a practical person.

We had chicken noodle soup and a beet salad along with a toasted slice of cinnamon burst bread that was sweet enough for dessert.  There will be one more meal out of that soup.

Carol

Liz

That sounded real good, Carol.  Everyone is having a yummy dinner.  I am still not over the virus, so had boiled egg and toast, with tea.  As dull as my life at the moment!  I saw a picture of a 78 yr. old fellow in today's paper, training for some marvelous athletic contest and read the article about all the fantastic things seniors are doing.... :(  I do a one hr. walk and think that is pretty good. ::)

Sarah, I have also prayed for your requests and will continue to do so.  Hope you are enjoying your new truck.

Thanks for the e-mail Marilyn.  It was real .... not like the so-called 'Secret' that was plugged on Oprah the other day and is now the latest big money maker.

How terrible about the weather and all the damage to lives.  It is so peaceful here on the island and we are so fortunate.

Read a little blurb about the lion and lamb connection to March;

An interesting note is that some skywatchers believe that the lion
and lamb saying has a heavenly connection. The constellation Leo, the
lion, is rising in the east at the beginning of March, hence the
"comes in like a lion," while Aries, the ram, sets in the west at
the end of March, and so "will go out like a lamb."

Well...I thought it was an interesting note! :)

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.
