  Who's running the show?

Let's pray for one another - Prayer and Praise     Thanks for visiting this area of our site to share prayer requests and items for praise!

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 11.  "In the Lord I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, 'flee as a bird to your mountain?'"

Satan has temporary control of many things in this world.  The result is that it often appears as though he's "running the show."  Sometimes it might even appear as though it would be advantageous to serve him and let him have his way in your life.  After all, if he's going to bring about his own conclusion, then wouldn't it be better to be on his side?  So perhaps you should support his causes and choose your friends from his followers.  After all - you don't want to be left out in the end do you?  - that's the advice you'll always get from others in this world.  Sometimes it's pretty convincing.

But there are some important facts we mustn't neglect.  First of all, we need to be very, very aware that Satan isn't going to end up in control.  In fact, even now, "The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein." (Psalm 24:1).

Satan is manipulating a world that doesn't even belong to him.  Paul tells us that God, in fact, has a different agenda.  He says, "for He has put all things under His feet."  He means that Jesus Christ is Lord, and all living things are eventually going to have to agree (Phil. 2:11)

With all this in mind, the psalmist is a good example for us when he says, "In the Lord I put my trust."

Jesus is the true and permanent Lord of all things, present appearances to the contrary not withstanding.  So take heart, brothers and sisters!  Put your trust in the true Lord and not in the "mountain" fortresses of this world.  "The Lord's throne is in heaven."
Al Moak

The God of Love My Shepherd Is
(Click to hear music)

The God of love my Shepherd is,
And He that doth me feed:
While He is mine and I am His,
What can I want or need?

He leads me to the tender grass,
Where I both feed and rest;
Then to the streams that gently pass,
In both I have the best.

Or if I stray, He doth convert,
And bring my mind in frame;
And all this not for my desert,
But for His holy Name.

Yea in death's shady, black abode
Well may I walk, not fear,
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
To guide, Thy staff to bear

Surely Thy sweet and wondrous love
Shall measure all my days;
And as it never shall remove,
So neither shall my praise.
Amen.

Good words, Al.

We are home again from church.  Great services today---even with no preaching!  God is moving in our church and in our town!!

I have some photos ready to post, when I get one of those 'round tuits.'

Think I will go read a while, something other than my computer screen.  See you fine folks tomorrow!

Hi, friends,

I'm in from outside - brrr, it's c-o-l-d!!!

But, I'm thanking the Lord for taking care of me - I put my car keys in a different pocket tonight, and was worried again that they were locked up. But, I found them, thanks to God.

Then, there were 2 other reasons I found for thanksgiving tonight.

Isn't God GOOD!

Y'all have a good evening.

Well, goodnight everyone.

Tomorrow will be a busy day.  I have to take my licence plates up to the dealer for him to put them on my new vehicle.

Hope it will be ready tomorrow.  I have no wheels after 5 pm

God bless you all.

I've had a full day today ... and feel ready for bed.  I'll talk atcha later on... Y'all have a great day in the Lord.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Good Morning All,

Hey Janet~ I have a "round tuit", but I think it's in storage, if I ever get in there you can have it.  ;D

I hope everyone had a restful sleep. It's been snowing here in ER, lake effect snow, a couple of inches so far, I'll get some day light pictures and try to remember to post them.

Hopfully I'll finally get to physical therapy today, we have Gary's car til he comes home on 2/9 from FL for a week or so. It'll be good to drive again, haven't driven in at least a month, hope I remember how.

More tests tomorrow for hubby and get the results on Thurs so going to be busy and get busier after that depending on what they find. :-\

Hi to everyone! Hope everyone has a God filled and blessed day!

Faith's Poems

Colin

Mild day here in N.Ireland..dry and pleasant outside. The snowdrop flowers are really blooming now and the shoots of the daffodils are well up out if the ground. I write with a lot of sadness this morning... a dear friend ..Mary..  her daughter collapsed and died yesterday in her bathroom. She had been found with cancer a few months ago and was being treated...but she seemed to be doing so well. This is a terrible shock to us all...Rosemay..the girl who died just 53 has a twin sister Carol. Their mother got me to write a poem for them 3 years ago when they turned 50. They were born on Christmas day. I did the poem and put it on a scroll with a lot of their photos. This has been a blow.

Pat..lovely devotional from Al..hope you are keeping well.

Hi to all of you...will call by later
The Country Poet

Etta Sue

Pat ~  Whooeee!  Pat's getting her wheels!  Hey, Pat!  Your room would be free when you come down here.  Nothing much down here costs anything so the scenery would be free.  I can cook....some!  So truly think about it!  Ya here?  We could go together and meet Janet halfway or even on to her place!!

Colin ~ What a blow to that family to lose someone so young.  Even 93 is young when you aren't expecting them to go home to God.

Jeannine ~ I used to have a 'round tuit', too!  Don't know where it went to now.

Jane ~ You are so right.  God is always right on schedule....His schedule which is always right!

Ruth Ann ~ After I locked my keys in the car several years ago, I never get out of my car without my keys in my hand...never put them in my purse or pocket until I am out of the car.  It works for me.  You might try that!  Once I looked everywhere for my keys and they were in the house door....on the outside!!   :-[

Janet ~ I am off to the gallery when I get this posted to see if you got your photos posted!

Al ~ Great devotion.  We worldly people tend to take our trust somewhere else at times.  It's when we are at our low spots that we finally turn to God.  When I think I am running the show, is it really Satan?  Didn't God give me brains to think for myself at times?  Hunh?

Well, today I am taking Kitty out for lunch to a new, classy restaurant in Pendleton where Jerry used to live.  There is a restaurant by the same name in Indy and it is really neat.  Her birthday was last Monday but she was in Ohio with her grandkids.  And the radio said it was brrrrrrr outside.  It is 14°F with wind....that means bundle up!!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Etta Sue

Samantha ~ I forgot.  I knew Laurie was going to have another baby but didn't know she had it already!  I still love that show and it does seem they aren't as much over the wall as they used to be.  Liveable designs...not Hildy and Doug outrageous designs.

Janet

Good Monday, Y'all!

Yea, new wheels for Pat!  And she can drive to Etta Sue's and Janet's!!  OR to Janet's and Etta Sue's........we will have to work on those plans and make it happen.  That would be so much fun.  No telling what the three of us could find to get into when we get together!  ::)

Sorry, Etta Sue, no photos yet, haven't found that round tuit, and Jeannine's is in storage, and yours is misplaced, and ...........well, anyway.  :-\

Colin, so sorry about your young friend.  That must be so very hard for her twin---and for their mother.  So much sorrow in this world, but for those of us who know our Lord, not nearly the heartbreak as for those who do not.  My condolences to you as well, Colin.  It is always hard to lose a friend.  I know your lovely poem on the scroll meant and means a lot to this family.  Lovely of you to do that for them.

Jane, lots happening in my world, too.  And the list seems to grow daily.  "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"  :P  Some weeks are like that.  But I know Who holds tomorrow.

My best painting buddy, Dee, has been caring for her brother for a year, in her home.  He had cancer, and he passed away Friday.  He would never have lived that long if she hadn't taken him in and taken care of him.  He has 7 children, none of whom came to help her.  Sad, the shape some families get to be.  :(

Next week, Mon-Friday, is my portrait class, so I will probably be scarce in here.  And I simply MUST get my stuff in order in preparation for the class.

Ruth Ann, glad you 'found' those car keys!  Isn't it amazing how they sometimes seem to have a life of their own?  :-\  Yes, God is good---all the time!  He is never too busy to hear our cry, and never too unconcerned to help, even with the smallest things.  He comforted me mightily yesterday.  What on earth do people do who don't have the Lord in their lives?  I cannot imagine.

Samantha, glad you also have wheels for a few days, at least.  I hope you get much better reports on your hubby when he goes to the doctor.

And if I sit here much longer, I will not make a dent in those things needing my attention!  See you later!

A couple of weeks ago, I had gone to a Mary Kay retreat in West Virginia.  We (the two ladies riding with me and myself) stopped once to get a drink.  One of the ladies walked all the way in the store to see if I had my keys before locking the doors.  We were about 30 minutes away from home, so no big deal.  The next time we stopped, I was pumping gas, and I thought the other two were staying in the car.  They got out and I heard "click."  Oh no.

We called AAA, and were told that they would be there within the hour, sometime.  We were in some little spot on the map (actually it wasn't even on the map, according to AAA.  They couldn't find it :( ).  The cashier called their one cop, Bob, who came to our rescue.  :)  All was well, and we were only delayed 15 or 20 minutes, but it is still such a helpless feeling.

It is cold here today.  I looked at the thermometer a minute ago, and saw that it had gotten up to 12.  Methinks the kiddies and I will be staying in today.

Pat, I'm glad to see you will be transportating soon.  Glad things have worked out.

I'm going to run.  The kids are finished eating (finally) and it is time to do Trav's schoolwork.  (We've started Kindergarten this month).

Take care and stay warm!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone from a very cold Georgia.  It was down to 18 degrees this morning and a few minutes ago was only up to 21 degrees.  The cafe, where we had coffee this morning, was pretty chilly as it is small and the door is opened very often.  However, we didn't freeze.

I was very upset with myself when I got the mail Saturday and found I had overdrawn one of our bank accounts.  In checking on it I found I had paid the electric bill twice.  Fortunately we have a home equity line of credit setup (which we had never used before) and they covered the three small transactions that brought the balance below zero.  I was afraid I would have to pay a $30 overdraft fee for each but when I went this morning I found there was no fee beyond the interest on the loan they had made from the equity line.  I paid that off and found it only cost us six cents in interest.  I was delighted and that is a good thing to know since I am sure this won't be the only senior moment I will have over the next few years.

We are going to go downtown this morning to attend an important event in our daughter's life.  She doesn't know we are coming but on Wednesday she will turn 42 and we won't be able to see her then.  It is a beautiful day here even if it is very cold.

Al, thanks for the devotional.

It is time to leave so will make this short today.

Marilyn

Good Morning. I was here earlier to read the few posts from last night, then I  went on to Curves to do my workout. I am skipping Tai Chi this morning as I just don't feel like rushing off again so soon. It is cold and foggy here this  morning. The dampness makes it seem  colder that it really is.

Larry It is good to have you back home, enjoy your day with your Stacey.

Janet hope you find your round tuit  I think I finally found mine since I have  finally started doing my file cabinet.

Colin so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter,  death is always harder on the ones left behind to greive. I am praying for you and the family.

Ettas Sue I sent you a cute PPS.

Karma Hey there.

Hello and have a God blessed day to everyone including those I have not named.

I am having one of those days when I feel like I am being ignored. So I am going over to the corner to ask Jane for prayer.

Well, I am getting here before noon anyway -- barely :-\

Colin, I am sad along with you about the loss of your friend.  I know the pain seems almost unbearable at times, but our God is an AWESOME God and He can pour healing balm into all the aches of the heart.  I will keep y'all in prayer.

Etta Sue~ It has always been so refreshing and relaxing to just KNOW that our Father is in control of all things and all I have to do is follow His lead.  In fact, I remember a chorus we used to sing:  "My Lord knows the way through the wilderness; All I have to do is follow (repeat) Strength for today is my always and all that I need for tomorrow ... My Lord knows the way through the wilderness; All I have to do is follow!"

Jane, lots happening in my world, too.  And the list seems to grow daily.  "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"  :P  Some weeks are like that.  But I know Who holds tomorrow.

Janet~Funny you used just those words ... I have a placque with that slogan: "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"  My mother used to say that often!!  Then the song "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" is the one my daughter Jean sang after she was diagnosed with cancer (only at the time she was told it was diabetes).  Ever since, that has had a very special meaning to me ...

Marilyn~You are certainly welcome to join me in the corner.  There's plenty of room, and it's a great vantage point for all that goes on in this room!  Makes for a good prayer corner, as well.   ;)

Hey there, Karma!  How's that li'l family doing these days?  How about Mommy?

I am truly sorry that I don't seem to have time -- lost my round tuit -- to respond to everyone here, but please know I have heard    read everything and you are vey much in my prayers and thoughts.

Well, here I am back finally.  I had no computer from Thursday 'til now, and I sure felt lost without it!  It had a strange little warranty problem that they fixed for no charge, so that was a very good thing!  It has a "sleep" mode that it goes into after a certain amount of time, and when it went into it, it simply wouldn't wake up!  I had to turn it on, then off, then on a few times to get it going. Well, they put a new version of the System software in it, and then it worked fine!  Anyway, it's indeed great to have it back.

Thanks to Pat for picking up my "Thoughts for the Week" and putting it in here.

Al Moak

By the way, Pat - nice looking car!  I pray God will keep it going a long time and bless it to you in every way.

Colin

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers...Mary is a Christian and so is Carol...Rosemary never made any profession to be one..this only adds to the distress and hurt not knowing. There is always some comfort if we know that someone dies in the Lord...I really feel for Mary..she is one delightful lady.

Wow Jane that was sure a nice cup of Chai tea you fixed for me. That Hazelnut creamer really  was good in the tea. Thanks for the Croissant and strawberry cream cheese and the prayer.

Ruth Had a really low blood sugar this morning and there was no orange juice inthe house. It was only 49 I had to get something in her in a hurry she was wanting to go to sleep and I wouldn't let her. I gave her 2 spoonfuls of sugar and that bought it up to 55 within 10 minutes then I got her in the car and to the Senior center  and gave her some orange juice. She likes the OJ and will drink what I buy her for these emergency situations when there is no emergency.  She really looked bad today. Ruth Ann I told her about the Candy canes or hard candy like you suggested.

Oh Colin that is so sad that Rosemary had never professed Christ as her Lord.

Marilyn, those glucose tablets are good to keep on hand for diabetics, and they work really well.  Darrel keeps some by the bed.  Also, we were told that apple juice works better than orange juice for that.  But if she prefers the orange, that has to be considered, too.  My friend whose husband often had really bad lows, kept tubes of cake icing around that she could squeeze into his mouth.  That brought him out of it quickly.  Don't fret about feeling ignored, we all feel that way at some time.  Nothing is intentional, I don't think.

What a day.  My mother always told me there would be days like this, but today it felt like several attacked me at once!!  I worked like crazy and still didn't get a fourth of what I wanted to do, done.

Karma, good to see you coming in, always good to hear about Trav and Kristi---and you and Nards, of course.  Don't you just HATE it when the keys get locked in the car?   :ticked:

We invited a young couple from church for dinner tomorrow night.  We want to sponsor them in a Walk to Emmaus this coming Fall.  They are sweet kids.  But that means I need to do some house cleaning tomorrow!  :-\

Larry, I'm so glad you didn't have to pay those high returned check fees.  Darrel has had an account in the Grant County Bank since he was 11 years old, never had an overdraft until about three years ago.  Boy, was he embarrassed!  They went ahead and paid it, and let him know, and you can bet he wasted no time in getting to the bank to take care of it!  :-[  Wish Stacey a happy birthday from me!

Al, it sounds like your computer went into a coma!!  Glad you got things fixed; it is very annoying to have computer problems.  They came and picked up Beth's computer today, she said.  I hope it doesn't cost a bundle to fix it.

Hey, Jane!  As soon as I get time, I will come over and sit in the corner with you and have a cuppa!  We could have such a nice visit.

Colin, see you later!  :)

Hello Everyone...

First of all, I'm truly saddened about your news, Colin.  So sad to see a friend pass away like this.  Hang in there my good friend.  We're all here for you.

Yes!  I got my car.  I didn't get the new tires yet.  They weren't in so I'll get them on Wed.  But I'm thrilled with it.  It has some bells and whistles that I'm not used to but I'll get used to them right quick.

I've had a very busy day and so I won't be posting to everyone.  Just so happy to see you in here Karma and that's so horrible when you lock your keys in the car.

My father always had a spare "emergency" key hidden away in his wallet that he just refused to ever use without it being an emergency and so following in his footsteps, I have a little penknife that Jack used to use on a chain and I have an emergency key on it and it's in my purse in an area where I never go to a lot and so I always have a key...which reminds me, I'll have to get a key cut for the new car and put that on and take my old one off.

I might be back.  I went and did a bit of shopping and I still have some things to put away.

Pat:   Try not to leave your purse in the car alone or perhaps you might end up in trouble, that did happen to me several years ago and Mel got home from Orangeville before CAA was able to get the door open.

TO DARLING MOM

If you want to know what's in my heart
And what my Mom you mean to me
Just look into my boyish eyes
And in the pools of blue you'll see

The love I have; how deep it is
Its offering to you I cannot speak
Can't reach my arms to hold you tight
And kiss you Mom on the cheek

But hear my love when I laugh
Listen for its melody in the air
Take its message to your ears
And know darling Mom I really care

How longing arms would reach for you
To hold you tight in their embrace
To toss your hair with mischievous glee
And watch a smile light up your face

Feel my love when you gently touch
And place your hand upon my breast
The beating of my tender heart
Will tell you Mom you are the best

Love in my laughter and beating heart
Words of it I cannot offer you
But when you bend to smother me with kisses
You will see it all in my eyes of blue

Hi Marilyn ~ i know how you feel.

Hi Al ~ great you got the computer back, i know how it feels to not have one for a few days.

Colin ~ Thank you my friend for the poem from Michael. You made me cry.

Hi to everyone else, just popped in to read and let you know that today is the PET/CT scan for my husband. Hopefully they won't find any more places with cancer. We finally have a car to use for a little while til our friend comes home from FL. Then we have to find our own.

Everyone have a God filled and Blessed day!

hi Carol,

I'm always up early, midnight EST, for the last 6+ years. That is when my son's nurse goes home and I take over.
You are up early though, don't usually see you here at this hour. :) Everyone is usually asleep unless they are on the other side of the world/pond.

Jeannine, Hope all the medical tests go well today.

It is cold, cold, cold here in Western NC.  Maybe not as much so as some of you further north, but definitely cold for us.  I was so ready to stay curled up under the blankets this morning.  The kids were so not ready to stay in bed.  Kristi is sitting beside me right now playing with a box of her brother's toys, and an empty sippy cup that she keeps trying to put on her foot. ???

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Stay warm and take care!
