Morning Devotional...

Your Final Authority

"I am the Lord, I change not."
(Malachi 3:6)

The world's order of things is unsure and indefinite. Desperate words of uncertainty are crying out daily from radio, television, and newspapers. Everything around us seems to be in turmoil.

But, praise God, if you're a believer you have something you can depend on: the unchanging Word of God!

God has no double standard. He doesn't say one thing today and something else tomorrow. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

If you will make the Word the final authority in your life, it will give you stability when everything else around you gives way. If you'll let what God says settle the issues of life, you'll be confident when others are confused, peaceful when others are under pressure. You'll be overcoming when others are being overcome!

What does it mean to make God's Word the final authority? It means believing what He says instead of believing what people say. It means believing what He says instead of what Satan says. It means believing what He says instead of what the circumstances say.

Determine in your heart to do that today. Make up your mind to live by faith, not by sight. Fearlessly commit yourself to the authority of God's Word and there won't be anything in this unstable world that can steal your security from you.

Scripture Study:  Psalm 9:1-10

Brrrr!  I do believe today is our coldest day so far this season.  The wind chill is -7°.  It is bright and sunny but the wind is freezing.  And of all days, after church I had to purchase some gas for the car...at least, they pumped it.  Then I went to Taco Bell and then to WalMart.  And when I left WalMart I went out the wrong door and had to walk/run the length of the building while that west wind was freezing my face, nose, ears and hands.  Then when I got home, I parked the car by the house and brought some things in and then brought more in after I parked the car in the garage.

Usually my electric fireplace warms up the house but not today...even the solar heat is working and it is the same temp as it was when I left for church.  Brrrr!

This time next week I should be in sunny Florida!!!    Hooray!!

Janet

I decided to be green today!  :)

The banquet last night was nice, not a good turnout, but the teens did a good job, and did pretty well at the clean-up, too.  That was important, because this morning, Darrel and I and three other ladies cooked breakfast for the Sunday School.  We had biscuits, sausages, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, and coffee, juice and milk.  M-m-m-m-m!  Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

This is Valentine's week, so Pastor centered his message around the theme of love.  What are your plans to show your special loved one your feelings this week?  I'm still pondering that.

Can anyone answer this question for me?  Who was the president who unveiled the first T.V. set at a world fair and what did he say?  I got part of it, it was Franklin Roosevelt, in 1939, but I haven't been able to find what he said.  The answer is worth $50.00 to me if I can get it.  It's a contest at our Sr. Center.

I didn't realize that TV was older than me!!  I saw the first one, very grainy, poor picture, when I was a junior is high school.  And we never had one in my parents' house.  I got my first one when I was already married and the mother of two.  Ahhhh, history!  ;)

I wish you all a wonderful afternoon and evening.  Now to go vote--hard job!  Lots harder than yesterday's caucus!

Janet ~ I bought myself a box of cheap chocolates at WalMart.  Does that count?

Janet

Sure it does, Etta Sue.  The Word says to love others as you love yourself, so you do need to love yourself.  Darrel and I won a little heart shaped box of chocolates last night---it had exactly four pieces in it!  So we shouldn't gain too much weight from eating two each.  :)

It is gloomy and very frosty here today.  All the trees and every blade of grass is wearing a white coat!

My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Etta Sue

Well, mine has more that 4 pieces in it...even more than 4 left!!  I could have gotten a smaller box or a bigger box.  But felt like I needed to indulge but not over indulge so I got a medium box of great chocolates...even if they were cheap!

Good devotional study this morning, Janet.  I try to make that my "yardstick" for everything: "What does the Word say?"

I didn't go to church today because ... well, just because.   :-\  My sitting down place doesn't feel any better (after the fall on the cement) and I just plain didn't feel well this morning.  I slept until nearly 11 a.m.   ::)  Today was potluck and I had a dish ready to go but ... it stayed home with me.

When my neighbor called this morning to see if I needed a ride to church, I told her I didn't think I'd be going.  Well, she stopped by about an hour ago with a plate of food from the potluck!  She also said she put a prayer request in for me.  Neighbors!   <3

I got the notification from my doctor's office yesterday telling me of the round of appointments, tests, etc. they have lined up for me!  Starting Feb. 27 I will have the E.K.G. and blood draw, then the pre-op consult with the doc. March 3, and I am scheduled for a Gastroscopy on March 7.   ???   I will need a driver that day, and I just talked with my neighbor (when she brought me the plate of food) and she says they will be happy to escort me to and fro on the 7th.

For all previous procedures I have never had a twinge of misgivings, but somehow I am feeling apprehensive this time.  And, this is not such a terribly hard thing ... I'll probably have a sore throat for a few days afterwards.  Maybe it's got something to do with that age related thing, y'think?

Well, I'm uncomfortable sitting here, so I think I'll go to the store and get one of those donut cushions.  Maybe that'll help.  :-[

See y'all later............
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

We had the mos awesome service this morning, The altar call was so fabulous. Dennis called up 4 of the elders to pray and anointed each of us who went for prayer. I was 2nd behind one of the  youth. afterward I Just was so in the "spirit" worshipping in the back, before I knew what happened i was up by the altar dancing before the Lord. Whew what a awesome event to be dancing with Jesus.

later I am going with another lady to the pastors house to clean the kitchen, his wife is sick and he is out of town.

Nice devotional, Janet.  Thanks....we can't get to many reminders about where our trust must be...

I did a little research about your question, Janet and surely did get led down a lot of useless paths.  Do not know if this helps...:

FDR's VISION: When President Franklin D. Roosevelt came to the site in 1938 with First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to break ground for the upcoming fair, he was so impressed by what he saw that he inquired if parts of the fair could be kept permanently for a world peace organization. On April 30, 1939, Roosevelt opened the fair in the first TV broadcast in history but his speech was a direct reply to a belligerent diatribe delivered the day before by Chancellor Adolph Hitler in Berlin. FDR declared "the eyes of the United States are hitched to a star – but it is star of Peace."

                         :)

Like you, Jane, I am having problems with the old body.  Spent a couple of days totally unable to breathe without pain, due to my back again.  Have to go for an x-ray of both my hand and chest.  Hurt the hand when I did a slide on it at New Years.  I am moving around again and no longer sleeping in a chair.  Boy that is the pits.  Especially when my cat wants to join and sit on my lap!!  Used my daughters wonderous heating pad, that gives moist heat and you keep pressing a button to heat as needed.  A marvelous invention.  Good luck on your tests.

Not much to comment on, except endless rain and cool weather.  Nice that Spring is not that far away....got my tax form and that is a sure sign ;)

Agree with 'Mother Hen', Marilyn.  Sometimes the intro. is better than the book... :-\

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Janet

THANK YOU, LIZ!!  I'm going to use that quote for my answer.  It sure sounds like it could be what they are looking for, anyway.  If not, so be it, but thanks ever so much, anyway.  I will let you know!

So sorry you haven't been feeling well.  I have another migraine today.  Sure don't like that.  Hadn't had those for many years, and do NOT want to go back there.  Take care of yourself, and get better quick, okay?

Jane, sorry about your "sudden seating" accident, and hope your derrière feels better soon.  Also that you get good results from all those tests.  Getting older is not for sissies!  :)

We have to take Beth's van to Amarillo tomorrow for repairs to the automatic door and ramp.  That means driving two vehicles, so we can leave the van.  I'm not looking forward to that, and really hope this stupid headache is gone by morning.  Then on Friday we will have to go back to Amarillo to get it.  800 miles altogether.  Sigh.........

I'm watching Extreme Makeover, Home Edition.  They are building a house for a Marine hero and his four kids.  Sniff.. :'(  So inspirational!

We discovered this morning that the kids had used all of the church's dishtowels, and we had none to use.  Pat said she was going to buy more this week, and I told her not to, as I had three drawers full at home.  Gave me another decluttering mission!  :)  So I got out two big bags full, washed and dried them and they are ready to go to a new home.  Plus, I have an empty drawer!     I'm glad I hadn't gotten that done sooner.

See you later!

I surely have been playing "catchup" the last 45 minutes or so -- reading from last week and today, praying for each as I read, and loving each one of you more.

May God richly bless you. We had such a quiet, moving service this morning. The pure love of the Spirit warmed each of us with His presence. There were tears and testimonies and beautifully moving songs. What a great thing when we can leave the House of God knowing He has infused us with His love and with that deep assurance that only He can give...
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Pat

What a cold day here in Guelph.

I simply froze as I scraped the car in order to be able to see out the windows this morning as I headed off to church.  It was a great service and then right after the service, we had the Pot Luck lunch.  They had set up for 108 and they needed to set up two or three more tables so it was a great turnout.

After the lunch, we went back to the auditorium for the Annual Business Meeting and then following it, we went right into the "evening" service so we were all home for the day about 4:30 pm

It's so cold now here that I was so happy to be home.

There are so many highways closed in the province due to whiteout conditions and the wind is so strong.

So glad to be inside!

Hi everyone.  It was cold here last night, below freezing but suppose to get around 60 degrees today.  Yesterday was very nice but a bit windy and the wind was chilly.  I know I am getting a lot of sympathy from those of you in the snow and real cold.  :)

Yesterday was our Senior Sunday at church.  We must have had about 40 seniors participating in the choir.  We did two hymns in combination and I sang one verse solo.  This was the first time I have sung anything solo in church in about 25 years.  I was using a microphone and shortly after I turned it on and started to sing there was this terrible noise through the sound system.  Apparently this was a new microphone and wireless system thatw as very directional and someone walked in front of the sound booth and caused the interference.  Fortunately I had the presence of mind to keep singing.  I had a lot of laughs from the foul-up and just told people I found tones in my voice I didn't know I had.  I didn't cause it so there was nothing to be upset about and I wasn't.

Following church we had a delicious luncheon and I was sitting at the spot that won the table direction, a lovely satin rose and white surrounding flowers.  We had an hour program presented by the Classic club, which were ladies from the age of 66 to 80 who danced and sang and had some very glitzy costumes.  All of these ladies have been contestants in the Mrs. Georgia Senior contest and this group does about 100 shows a year for churches and civic groups and nursing homes.  They have a great time and really enjoy themselves.

Rachelle, nice to see you posting again.  Don't be a stranger.

Janet, thanks for that fine devotional.  We may draw away from God but he doesn't draw away from us.  It is us that changes and not God.

I received the follow in an e-mail yesterday and thought it was lovely and wanted to share it with my CP friends:

Ten Guidelines From God

Effective Immediately,
please be aware that there are changes YOU need
to make in YOUR life. These changes need to be
completed in order that I may fulfill My promises
to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in
this life. I apologize for any inconvenience,
but after all that I am doing, this seems very
little to ask of you. Please, follow
these 10 guidelines

1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit
and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here
to take all your burdens and carry them for you?
Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little
thing that comes your way?

2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it
on the list. No, not YOUR list. Put it on MY
to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care
of the problem. I can't help you until you turn
it over to Me. And although My to-do-list
is long, I am after all... God. I can take care
of anything you put into My hands. In fact,
if the truth were ever really known, I take
care of a lot of things for you that you never
even realize.

3. TRUST ME:
Once you've given your burdens to Me,
quit trying to take them back. Trust in
Me. Have the faith that I will take care of
all your needs, your problems and your trials.
Problems with the kids? Put them on My list.
Problem with finances? Put it on My list.
Problems with your emotional roller coaster?
For My sake, put it on My list. I want to
help you. All you have to do is ask.

4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don't wake up one morning and say,
"Well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think
I can handle it from here." Why do you think
you are feeling stronger now? It's simple.
You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking
care of them. I also renew your strength
and cover you in my peace. Don't you
know that if I give you these problems back,
you will be right back where you started?
Leave them with Me and forget about
them. Just let Me do my job.

5. TALK TO ME:
I want you to forget a lot of things.
Forget what was making you crazy.
Forget the worry and the fretting because
you know I'm in control. But there's one
thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't
forget to talk to Me - OFTEN! I love YOU!
I want to hear your voice. I want you to
include Me in on the things going on in your life.
I want to hear you talk about your friends
and family. Prayer is simply you having
a conversation with Me. I want to be your
dearest friend.

6. HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you
can't see from where you are. Have faith in
Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me;
you wouldn't want the view from My eyes.
I will continue to care for you, watch over you,
and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me.
Although I have a much bigger task than you,
it seems as if you have so much trouble just
doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?

7. SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were
only two years old. When did you forget?
That rule still applies. Share with those who are
less fortunate than you. Share your joy with
those who need encouragement. Share your
laughter with those who haven't heard any in
such a long time. Share your tears with those
who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith
with those who have none.

8. BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime
you could have so many diverse experiences.
You grow from a child to an adult, have children,
change jobs many times, learn many trades,
travel to so many places, meet thousands
of people, and experience so much. How can
you be so impatient then when it takes Me
a little longer than you expect to handle
something on My to-do-list? Trust in My
timing, for My timing is perfect. Just
because I created the entire universe in
only six days, everyone thinks I should
always rush, rush, rush.

9. BE KIND:
Be kind to others, for I love them just
as much as I love you. They may not dress
like you, or talk like you, or live the same way
you do, but I still love you all. Please try
to get along, for My sake. I created each
of you different in some way. It would be
too boring if you were all identical.
Please, know I love each of your differences.

10. LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not
love yourself? You were created by me for
one reason only -- to be loved, and to love
in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me.
Love your neighbors. But also love yourself.
It makes My heart ache when I see you
so angry with yourself when things go
wrong. You are very precious to me.
Don't ever forget......

Touch someone with your love.
Rather than focus upon the thorns of life,
smell the roses and count your blessings!

Etta Sue

Even though the temp is just as cold, it is really nice out today.  No wind.  I did notice that the home across from Kaye Don's has some siding blown off.  They have been remodeling this home for over 15 years and finally getting vinyl on the outside but some will have to be replaced now.  I am thinking it must not be put up very good if it is blown away in less that a month!

I have made my phone calls and sent emails out to announce where we are meeting this month for 60 Chix.  That's a thing that I dread starting but once I get started I don't mind doing.  Just like cleaning house!    :idiot:

Kitty may come over this afternoon to get acquainted with my furgirls since she and her husband, Bob, will be feeding them and bringing in our mail and papers.

The rest of the week will be busy....but it won't be long until....

Colin:   Thanks for sharing your touch of spring so good to hear your  voice.

Rachelle:  Welcome back

Etta Sue:   I always look forward to your animations.  Good luck with your medical procedure and yes as I get older I seem to worry more. the fear of not being well is my issue.

Al & Larry:  I also look forward to your daily updates as well.

Janet:   Thanks for getting me started on some decluttering, I am putting a  package together to be mailed to someone in need.

Lastly brrrrrrrrrr it is cold outside. It was 11 yrs ago yesterday that Sue lost her husband and the weather is the same now as it was then.

Have a lovely day.   Ruth

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Good evening all!  Just been trying to clean up the house today.  Can't tell that I've made a lot of headway though.  Such is life, I guess.

I've started posting some of Kristi's b-day picks in a photo thread.  Don't have a lot of time to do many at once, though. :)

Take care and have a good night

Here's Colin's poem...

NEW LIFE IN SPRING

Hear the whisper of the breeze
Sighing softly through the trees
Rays of sunshine kiss my face
Fleecy clouds above me race
Dancing in the soft blue sky
Where soar the singing birds on high

Fresh green leaves trees adorn
Cuckoo calls from early morn
Busy bees on the wing
Listen to the blackbird sing
See the beauty of the flowers
Watered from fresh April showers

Brightly glistens morning dew
Blades of grass a greener hue
Spring is here, cold days are gone
Each morning now a brighter dawn
Skipping lambs; just newborn
Pink small flowers on the thorn

Cherry trees are out in bloom
Also flowering gorse and broom
Rabbits frolic without a care
Fragrant smells are in the air
Hedgehog stirs from winter's rest
Mother bird builds her nest

Sunny days are sure to bring
Life renewal in the Spring
I thank God that I can see
Nature's beauty surrounding me
God in mercy and in love
Sends us blessings from above

Days of Spring bring life anew
God will give new life to you
Hope eternal it will spring
If to Jesus you will bring
And give to Him your heart today
He will wash your sin away

Good evening, friends,

It's been a busy day at work, but I left almost on time and enjoyed leftovers from yesterday's dinner. So, no cooking tonight!  :)

The sweet lady who was so afraid of not having a peaceful death passed away this morning. She was peaceful and resting well, then simply went to sleep.

Thank you for praying for Marie.

sorry that so many have pain and not feeling well.

And, so many are cold.

Just touching base, we have had cousin & husband for two days, they left today and before, friends for day and a half.  Tomororw, we are alone.  Wednesday, another cousins & husband come for a night & part of a day.  It is windy and warmer here and we will probably freeze driving home in another week & half.

Hi, Kids.  We are just home from Amarillo, rather frustrating day.  Will tell you about it tomorrow, must get myself to bed now.

Hi everyone.  Thank you Marilyn for the Birthday card and Samantha thanks for the special wish.  Today is my 67th birthday.

I was greeted by a card on my computer keyboard from my wife when I went into my office this morning and before I left for coffee our daughter called to wish me happy birthday.  She had just gotten to her job but wasn't time for her to start work yet.  We have a meeting to attend today and then the group is going out to lunch as it is an anniversary meeting.  We are going to City Slickers, one of my favorite places, and on your birthday they give you a free lunch up to a certain value.  So I am looking forward to that.

At the cafe this morning the fellow I pick up each day not only gave me a loaf of pumpkin bread his wife had made but also brought a loaf sliced up to share with everyone at our table and then with the owners and a few other people we see at the cafe each morning.  He also bought me a breakfast sandwich so this has already been a special day.

They are predicting rain for us later today and tonight and it is to be in the 60s.  Right now it is chilly outside and rather damp.

karmat

Happy Birthday Larry.  I hope you have a most pleasant day!

Kinda gray here in WNC.  Makes  it hard to get up and go, but get up and go we must. :)

Take care all!

Marilyn

Karma How did Soni's  son do after his surgery I don't remember if we got the update or not?

Not much going on here today, I need to mow, the grass is getting long already even though it is wet. My client's Gardner mows  ever Monday even in the rain.. So today after I take the dogs for their walks I will mow.

Colin  went to the link you posted yesterday and enjoyed your poetry and video.

Have y-all seen what is going on in Berkeley re: the Marine Recruiting office? Geez what is this country coming too?

Marilyn, I don't think I've seen anything in the news about Berkley or the marine recruiting office.  Saw something about the marines in Toledo Ohio, but nothing your way.  What's going on?  And sorry about missing your birthday last week  :-[

Many happy returns of the day.  67 ! Wow !.  Were you like me as a youngster??  I would say, "If I live until the turn of the century, I'll be 60 years old."  Back then I thought that 2000 was light years away.

May God give you a special blessing on this special day.

Colin ~ I have forgotten to mention how talented you are in making your movies and creating your poetry!  Your last movie reminded me of a valley in Hawaii!!

Our weather people missed again.  We were to have 6" to 10" of snow over night but I can still see blades of grass in the yard!  That's two in a row that they missed.  People are going to stop listening to them.  Then we will get a big time snow fall!!

It is predicting sleeting and rain this afternoon.  Would rather have snow.  Needs to warm up to do that...only 19°F now.

Today is Euchre which is always fun.

I have been putting things out so I won't forget to take them to Florida.  Little things like changing purses, charging batteries for my two cameras, getting out suitcase and over night bag...the furgirls know something is up!

It looks really lovely on your blog with the black background. Thank you very much. God bless.

Hi Etta Sue....I can see why you think the valley does look like one in Hawaii and the music sounds like from that area too. Thank you for your lovely comment. God bless.

Well, Colin, I have to pass on the video clips because I have dial-up.   :-\   I know, my loss!  :-[

But I am thankful that Pat posted your lovely poem here, so at least I can enjoy your talent in that department.

Pat thank you for doing that -- retrieving Colin's poem for this site.   <3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR LARRY!!!  And many more.  I'm so glad you have been enjoying your day from the morning, and didn't have to wait until evening for one special thing.  You're a special brother, and we all love you.

Colin, great music and photography, again, thanks.  :)

Etta Sue, sounds as if you'll be ready to head South, all right!  ;)

About yesterday---the automatic equipment on Beth's van had been acting up and being balky when it did work, since last summer.  We took it to Amarillo in November, but they didn't have time to work on it then.  We got there yesterday, and what do you think?  Everything worked PERFECTLY!!  I was so aggravated I walked over and kicked it on a tire.  :-[  Well, phooey.  800 miles, on two vehicles, with $3.00 gasoline, plus a whole day's time, for nothing.  Today I can be thankful we didn't have any expense for repairs, at least if it continues to function right.  Oh, well, we did a bit of shopping, and visited Darrel's Mom, anyway.

My computer is really acting up today.  Hope I can get it sorted out.  If not, Larry, I might be calling you, but not on your birthday.

What Marilyn referred to is that in Berkley, they are refusing to allow Marine recruiters on campus.  >:(

Re the Marines in Berkeley - they don't even want them to have a recruiting station downtown.

Re Colin's poem, et al - I echo Jane, because I too have dialup.  I tried to get DSL, but they don't have it in our area yet.

Janet - I hope you're not complaining left handedly about $3 gasoline.  It's $3.43 here in our area.

Nice day today on the island.  No sun....but No Rain!!

Be-lated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Marilyn.  I didn't get there in time and forget when last posted.  Sr. Moment.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Larry.  It is great that your day started so well and will continue right thro' until evening.  You deserve to be spoiled  :)

Yes, I have read about the Berkley protests.  Sad.  I read the LA Times and New York Times most days.  (on the internet)

Colin, your site is nice and I really enjoyed the two videos.  Thanks, Pat.

Time to go and eat my dinner soon.  Did ironing all afternoon and my daughter brought down a dinner for me.  Pineapple chicken, rice and a salad.  Yumm!!  I am back to doing things again, thank goodness.

I miss Judy B's posting.  Always an interesting read.  Guess work takes most of her time now....along with a zillion other things.

I was also wondering about Zackery and hoping that things have improved since the operation.   What a brave young man.

Did anyone tune into the Grammy Awards?  I felt like it was a visit to another planet.....other than the classical and country parts.  Those were the parts I watched!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Hi, friends,

They'resaying our rain will turn to snow tonight. Yikes! So, I left my computer on at work. It's set up so if the work computer is on, then I can get on the network and use the proper software to get my work done right here at home. I'll be staying in if it's icy tomorrow - at least until the roads clear. :D

Happy birthday - very late - from me. Each new year is a gift for us, isn't it.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

And Happy Birthday, Larry, even later.....from me. :)   I hope your day was wonderful just because you are you.  And now, as Ruth Ann said, you can start a brand new year as a beautiful gift from our Father.  Blessings, Nita

Jeannine

Happy Birthday to those I missed.  :-[

Colin, wonderful as always,  <3 love the pictures and everything about it. Would seriously love to get lost over there for awhile!

Been busy here, 3 gel injections in my knee, they hurt. But they have done nothing to help the pain, grrr,  :clobber:. Now its a wait and see game, hah.

Anyways, Michael is doing good, for the most part not many seizures, one last week and many many absence, especially during "school".

Frank is still away, grrr, he looks terrible, down to 107 pounds.

Otherwise not much here, just busy with my parents and Michael. I have been reading when I get the chance and praying for all needs here. Now its off to the corner again.

Oh, we got more snow last night and now it is freezing rain on top of it and supposed to go back to more snow, yuk! Wish spring would hurry up and spring already. My daffodils are confused, they are up about an inch.

May you all have a God filled and blessed day!

Good Morning Well I got my yard mowed yesterday. The vibration of the mower sure doesn't do my wrist any good, I need to get hold my  therapist to see if my wraps and gloves have come in  yet. I have already be close to a month since they were ordered.

I cooked ½ turkey yesterday, kept ½ and took the other ½ plus Mashed potatoes, gravy and steamed broccoli over to the Pastor's wife and kids. We have been doing meals for her this week. She is having a terrible case of vertigo and ear problems. Pastor Danny is out of town until Friday.   Please pray for Michelle, She is the one who has had cancer three times.

Yesterday at work Fran ad I made a checkered  white and purple birthday cake for her adult grand daughter.  She was preparing dinner for 12 so I got everything set up for her, the table  set etc. Today I will be doing all the dishes some in the dish washer and some by hand.

Red Hats is cancelled today due to snow.  I am the youngest and Ivalou is the oldest and no need for us old women to get out in the snow.

But Ivalou called and wanted to know if I wanted to go with her to Lapel to get money out of the bank for Florida...forgot about that..., she needs stamps from the P.O. and then we will eat at Woody's!  Sure!  Why not?  So we are leaving in a half hour.

Then this afternoon I am going to bake some cookies.  My nephew and his wife gave me a fruit jar of ingredients (for Christmas) that I add oil, an egg and vanilla to make cookies.  I will put them in ziplock bags and they are going to Florida with us.  That way four of us can eat them...if there are any left by the time we get to Florida... ::)

That's it for today.  Oh, yeah.  Bright and sunny in Indiana.  Snow is a beautiful snow...big flakes floating to the ground.  Temperature of 17°F but no wind at all.  Pleasant day...I think.  But then I am inside looking out!!

Yes, Al, I did get it, and thank you.

I worked on this computer most of the day yesterday.
What with my lack of knowledge of computers, etc. I was really frustrated, but I finally got it restored, disk clean-up done and it didn't need to be defragged.  The disc cleanup just did NOT want to work, then when I was doing something else, it popped up and worked.  Anyway, things seem to be back to normal today.

I hadn't heard that Zachery had surgery.  Poor kid, he sure has been through a lot.  I need to contact Soni.

I am going to school right now!!  To eat with my Youth Friends.  Back later!

Hi everyone. Thanks to each of you for the Birthday wishes.  I did have a very nice luncneon with friends and a good time a the cafe.

However, we had to call 911 about 5 pm as was having radiated pain down my left arm that wasn't responding to nitro.  I did not have a heart attack but they admitted me to be wached overnight.  I was afraid they were going to transport me on over to the Northside Hospital (from the local one I went to by ambulance) but they had no room and so they held me near where I live.  After seeing two cardiologists they conferred with my Kaiser doctor this morning and decided to increase one medication, add another with nitro and to take away one and then I have an appointment on Monday afternoon to see my regular cardiologist.  It sure was nice to take my afternoon nap in my own bed as I didn't sleep but a few minutes last night.  Hospitals are not conducive to sleeping.

I am hopeful this won't interfere with you planned trip to Florida a week from today.

It has turned suddenly colder here this afternoon.  It rained overnight and the wind is now blowing.

Late Friday evening I order a new vacuum cleaner and a new microwave over the Internet.  Both were delivered this afternoon along with some bags I had ordered a the same time.  That is unbelieveable as it was suppose to take a week or longer for the shipping.  I had ordered all of these through Amazon-very pleased.

I am not going to choir practice tonight as am just too tired.

Pat

Ohhhh, my dear Larry!

I'm so sorry.  Those 911 calls are just so awful to go through as you know how many we had with Jack but how good that they were able to deal with this.  I certainly do continue to pray for you and hopefully you'll get to Florida.

Awww. Larry, that wasn't a good way to celebrate your birthday.  I felt the need to pray for you yesterday evening, now I know the reason.  I'm so glad you are now home, and hope the changes in meds will be what you need, and that you will get a good report from your cardiologist.

I have been dragging my feet about getting ready for my class next week, so I must STOP it and just DO IT already!

I'm so glad "the Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness"  (from today's verse.)  He truly is a matchless God.

I guess this was my day to visit.  After eating with the girls and doing a little craft, I went by my painting buddy's house and visited with her a while, then stopped by the church to leave those dish towels, two of my favorite ladies were there and we visited for a while.  Nice to be able to do that sometimes.

I hope you all have a lovely evening.

I just read this and it spoke to my heart.

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation."

Kid Story

I will tell you ONE of the stories my mother used
to tell about me when I was just a toddler.
(I am the youngest of a large family and was almost like a grandchild to
my
                               own parents!)

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me and my
brother who is four years older than I am. I was maybe 1 and a half
years old and had just recovered from a broken arm among other
injuries.

Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get-well
gift and it was one of my favourite toys. Daddy was in the living room
engrossed in the evening news and my brother was playing nearby in
the living room when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was
just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such
yummy tea, my Mom came home.
My Dad made her wait in the living room to
watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was "just the cutest
thing!!" My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall
with a cup of  tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up, then
said,
"Did it ever occur to you that the only place that baby can reach to
                        get water is the toilet??"
                        And sure enough........!!!

He Looked Beyond My Fault
Lyrics by Dottie Rambo
(to the tune of "Londonderry Aire")

Galatians 5:1
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

Amazing Grace, shall always be my song of praise.
For it was grace that brought me liberty,
I do not know, just why He came to love me so.
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary,
To view the cross, where Jesus died for me
How marvelous, His grace that caught my falling soul
He Looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

Hi, friends, as usual, my time online is limited, but this time it's because I actually have to go back to work by connecting to the secure website. Oh, well, God's traveling mercies were with me in the slippery, snowstorm we were experiencing as I drove to work.

I left at 4:30 (not 6 or later as usual) because I was uncertain what I would find. Thankfully, the drive home on dry roads was uneventful.

My goodness, isn't it great to be able to read, pray instantly, jot some notes, and pray again as God brings requests to mind later on.

Y'all be good to yourselves and to those you love and with whom you associate.

I hope to be traveling to Atlanta tomorrow to see my granddaughters. After all, tomorrow's the time to verbalize love, and they definitely are my "sweethearts!!"

Love to all, Ruth Ann

Hi Everyone,

At our couples' bible study last night we studied the latter part of Luke 4 and found Jesus shutting up and getting rid of "the spirit of an unclean demon", and then "rebuking the fever" of Simon's mother-in-law.  And with authority, too!

I then told the believers there that I don't talk to Satan nor to his demonic crew.  It got really quite in that living room!

One of the accepted things for Christians to do to a demon, or at least to attempt to do, is to bind the demon or Satan.  And of course the tone of one's voice must be that of a very stern parent, and supposedly, by adding, "in Jesus' name",  this would complete the circle and Satan or his demon(s) had no choice but to flee.  Well, that is how I thought it was done, too!  And then I took a closer look at what the Bible really says.

The word and act of "binding" comes from for one, Matthew 16:19.  However, in its context this verse has to do with Christ establishing the church on earth and does not reference Satan nor even one demon.  The other "bind" reference is from Matthew 18:19.  Again, to properly understand what this text is talking about, we have to look at it in its context, Matthew 18:15-20, at least.  This is talking about church discipline and doesn't even hint at getting Satan to stop his evil ways.

So how do Christians deal with Satan and his demons?  We talk to God!  We obey His Word.  We live a godly life. Jesus told us there are spiritual forces and Paul told us, too.  And Paul told us HOW to handle this spiritual battle.  It has to do with prayer and obedience; by putting on the full armor of God!

Ephesians 6:11-18
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Hi everyone,

Ruth: No I have not tried that or the glucosamine/chondroitin as I am allergic to fish. Thank you for the suggestion though. It is bone on bone so there really isn't much they can do short of replacing the joint but I am too "young".

Larry: so sorry to hear about your visit to the hospital. I am praying for you.

Am praying for all in here, you are in my thoughts too. Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's day. May you have a God filled and blessed day.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY.

Kristi has a dr's appointment today -- her 3 year well baby check up.  Cast and all.  :)  She was supposed to go to the orthapedic doc as well, but they moved it until tomorrow.  Hopefully, we can get the cast off then.

Have a great day all.  The starting gun is getting ready to go at the Shuford house.  Take care!

Etta Sue

It is going to be a busy day.  60 Chix and then packing.  I won't be here after today for awhile.  So y'all behave!! :clobber:

The weather forecast says a slight chance of snow tonight and tomorrow morning until noon.  By noon I hope to be in Tennessee!

And by Sunday morning I hope to be going to Kaye Don and Barb's church in Bradenton.

Kevin, I have a friend (minister, author, teacher) who has been teaching on these scriptures for more than 20 years!  She often says "If, after all these centuries of christians bindinng the devil, how come he is still stomping around and bothering folks?"  She asked one person what she did with him after she bound him ... the answer: "I just send him back to hell where he came from" ... How's he going to get there if he's bound?    :-\

Also, my friend researched the words "bind" and "loose" in the original Greek/Hebrew and found a whole different meaning than what has been assigned to those words.   :)

I gotta get out of the way of those hornets now ..... see ya!

A Rose Says,
"I Love You!"

This is the day when so many folks around the world tell their loved ones that they love them. Have you told him today that you love him? Have you told her? Or what about the little ones? They all need to hear those three words, "I love you!"

But what a wonderful thing if we did this every day! As you leave each day for your place of work, tell your wife that you love her. As he sets off on his journey to his place of work, give him a hug and whisper those words that he loves to hear, "I love you!" Maybe you could even leave a note with those words written on it in a snack for the children. And your Dad and Mother both need to know, too, that they are loved. Phone them or write them a wee note today and simply say, "Mum, I love you! Just wanted you to know!" or "Dad, feel like a coffee? Let's meet and I'll buy you a one today. Just wanted to let you know that I love you, Dad!"

We all need to know that we're loved. Go and tell someone that you love them now. It's so nice to hear those words.

The greatest gift ever was the gift of love that we're told about in John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life".

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39

Author:  S. Trevor Francis, 1834-1925
Musician:  Thomas John Williams, 1869-1944

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward
to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
spread His praise from shore to shore!
How he loveth, ever loveth,
changeth never, nevermore!
How he watches o'er His loved ones,
died to call them all His own;
How for them intercedeth,
watcheth o'er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
love of every love the best!
'Tis an ocean full of blessing,
'tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
'tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
for it lifts me up to Thee!

Jane, I thought of you as I read Kevin's post. :)  I knew he wasn't stirring up a hornet's next near you.

And not here, Kevin.  I believe exactly as you have posted. In fact, the Holy Spirit showed me that when I first became a Christian, but being in church, looking at others, being taught what "everyone" believes, it's easy to begin to doubt if you heard Him.  I'm so grateful, so eternally grateful, that our Father is so willing to teach us His truth, the Ways Of The Kingdom, if we will quieten our hearts, be teachable, and willing to turn aside for the clang of error if we are led by the Master.

Thank you for sharing what you have been shown in silence.  He loves to reveal His Treasures of Wisdom and Knowledge; doesn't He?

You've blessed me this morning.  Nita

Thanks, Kevin!  And Pat, what a nice song/video about love, for this Valentine's Day.  I have heard three differing accounts this week of the origin of Valentine's Day.

I showed my husband my love today by helping him pull wire again.  We got all the hard part done!  He was so tired when we came home he could barely go.  I'm so glad to be able to help him.

The Home is having a Valentine party at 3:30 and Beth wants me to come.  She told me to bring my camera, because she is hoping to receive roses from John.  ^-^  He sent her a pizza the other night, ordered it online.  ;)  His romantic streak is returning now that he is feeling better, I think.

I need to get ready to go to the home.  Later, Peeps!

It is chilly today and snowing in the hills - yes, there is snow in Arizona and skiing as well.  At home, still lots of snow and all the "experts" predicted a dry winter - it has been well above normal snowfall and storms.  There is no expert on earth  ;D

Cousin & husband left early today and we are getting things repacked for our drive to Tucson tomorrow.  Don is taking a nap & I feel sleepy as well.  We were walking around Prescott, AZ the other afternoon and Don said he felt awful - we sat for awhile and then he decided to have a coffee and started to feel better right away.  It is a good thing that worked - a strange day.

Larry:  That isn't a way to celebrate a birthday!  It is good that you were able to be close to home and checked

Jeannine:  A big hug to you!  It may take some time for your knee to feel better.

Colin:   What a lovely glen.  It looks refreshing and peaceful.  Thank you for the music - what a great talent you have and it is so nice of you to share with everyone.

Thanks for that word about what to do with Satan, Kevin.  My former pastor of many years ago always referred to Jude 9: "Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, 'The Lord rebuke you!'"  If even Michael the archangel didn't dare, surely I shouldn't!  Many in our day have forgotten who he is and who we are.  We aren't archangels, that's for sure.  But what Michael said is more than a little interesting.  He said, "The Lord rebuke you!"  that's a prayer.  It's very similar to what we often do when we say, "The Lord bless you!"  That's a prayer, too.  God alone is strong enough for Satan.  Again - thanks, Kevin - that was refreshing in the midst of a generation of those who don't shrink from reviling the Devil.  Our adequate strength is our Lord - let's leave it to Him.  He always hears our prayers.

Hi everyone.  I have had a good day after a long night of sleep.  I was so tired last night that I went to bed early as did my wife and we both slept throughout the night.  I went to coffee this morning and then had to go to Kaiser to get a pneumonia shot and pick up medicine.  On the way home I stopped at the hospital and picked up copies of my medical record to take to my cardiologist on Monday.  Then stopped at Target to get a really nice valentine and some Russell Stover candy for Pat.  That was enough for one day.

I have read all the messages and the interesting discussion started by Kevin.  Etta Sue, hope you have a good trip to Florida.  We are still planning on going next week.  Ruth Ann, hope you had a good drive to Atlanta.  Janet, hope that Beth isn't disappointed.  Having expectations often lead to disappointments since we don't have any control over other people.

Ed:  That was a good answer and I have the same problem  I don't have enough hair left to do anything with.

Well we had a bit of sun today and it was nice.  This morning I was at the mission that I go to every Thursday to give out food bags from the food bank.  We were busy today and it is so hard to see some of the client's that come to the mission and to here how hard it is for them.

Larry:  Please look after yourselff and stay away from hospitals. We will be remembering you.  How is your daughter doing.

Pat:  The rose was beautiful and the stosy that went with it and the great old hymn.   The you tube was great and I could even pick up that irish accent.  Excellent.  Love ya sis.

Judy B.  via Heather.  Very funny I dont know where you find all these stories but they are good.  Please say hi to John and don't do to much and then get to tired. Talk to you soon  sis.

Hi, friends,

I'm safely here in Atlanta with the kids. My little one was nearly asleep so I got a sleepy "Hi, Granma, you spendin the nite?" I told her yes, I'm spending the night and she smiled a sleepy little smile and went back off to dreamland.

When I called and my oldest granddaughter picked up the phone, she shouted, "HEY, Grandma's coming, HOORAY!"

Wow, just think another year or two and she'll probably roll her eyes at old Grandma coming down to visit!  ;)

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Colin, that was beautiful!  I am amazed at how rocks in different areas can be totally different.  Some are all rounded, some standing up like they've been carved, vertically---other areas there are huge boulders, then an area of all small rocks.  Oh, the endless creativity of our Father God!  I loved the music, too---did you hear me singing along?  ;)

My kids who didn't make it for Christmas because of a blizzard are supposed to come tomorrow.  And Curt, Toni and little Alexis are in Hugoton, and Mark is also coming home.  So we will have a real reunion!!  Thank you, God!  We are cooking a turkey dinner for all of them tomorrow evening.

Beth called this morning to tell me she received a Vermont Teddy Bear holding a banner that says "I love Beth" along with a box of candy.  I told her those will last longer than roses!  Well, the bear will, anyway.  ^-^

I must get busy!  Lots to do, getting my stuff together for the class next week.  Thank goodness, I don't have to do a flurry of cleaning, the house is company ready.  (Thank you FLYlady!)  ;)

Janet:  Hi are are you and your husband donn't overdo it as you always sound like you are so busy :)   It is such a coincident that you are cooking a turkey tomorrow as we are doing the same thing as the kids are coming.

Hi all.  We are having a very nice day here.  At noon we met our birthday group at Red Lobster and 5 of us celebrated our birthdays.  We had a very nice lunch and as always a great time with this group of friends.  I stopped at the library on my way home and returned some items and picked up a couple of books.  Now just hope I find the time to read them.

Our trip to Florida is going to be delayed until a week from today as the couple we had planned to visit on the way down have a prior commitment.  So we will just stop on the way back and spend time with them as it is no problem for us and in fact probably works out better.

Thanks again for the expressions of concern about my health.  Please don't worry about me, although as always I appreciate those thoughts and prayers.  I think my new medicine, which is a nitroglyerine medicine is giving me a minor discomfort and a little dizziness but expect that won't last as I adjust to it.  I had taken the same thing before.

Janet, certainly glad that Beth wasn't disappointed.  I heard severals ads for the Vermont Teddy Bear on the radio so know they must be special.  As you say it will last a long time.  It sounds like you will be very busy with family but that it should be a great time.

Hi Gord, Colin, and Nita.  Gord you asked about our daughter.  I thought she was doing well and had worked 4 days and seemed to be doing fine.  However, yesterday afternoon around 3 pm she passed out at work.  She was not scheduled to work today or, due to our President's Day Federal Holiday on Monday, until sometime next week.  Her mother talked with her today and she seemed to be feeling a lot better so am hoping it was just a one-time occurrence.

Marilyn, is your cutback in hours another government cost savings measure or has the need changed?  Glad you were able to be with your grandchildren.

Ruth Ann, glad you had a safe trip to Atlanta.  It looks like you are hear at a good time weatherwise.  Those words received from grandchildren as the best aren't they?

I am looking forward to a quiet evening.

Hello all!  I hope each of you had a special Valentine's Day, in whatever way you wanted.  :)

Bernard and I went to the Waynesville Country Club and took pictures of the couples there for their Valentine's day Dinner and Ballroom Dancing.  It was a real challenge, because I am used to shooting a bunch of shots to get it just right, then fixing it in post-processing.  Last night, I had to take a couple of shots, hand Bernard a memory card, and he would be printing them while I took some more.  I had one chance to take a picture, then print it straight from the card -- NO post processing.

Fortunately, almost all of there were *really* good and several people took my business card for future use.  I also took some shots of my supper, and we printed 8x10s for the chefs.  He wants me to photograph all of his signature dishes for his portfolio. :)  Also, the owner was impressed with my food shots and is interested in having me shoot for their menu/advertisement,e tc.

We shot for free last night (and it was their printer and paper, etc), but they let us eat for free.  Sooooo, we got some free advertisement, and quite possibly one of the best meals I've ever eaten.

In other Shuford news,
Kristi got her cast off today.  She is already back to walking and playing as if it had never been on her.    Glad that is behind us, though.  I promised her a real bath (we've had to do "different things" for the past two weeks) tonight.  :)

Later and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Hi, friends, I'll be brief again today. Kassie will be in from her piano lesson soon, and I think the girls and I will go to dinner together, then let them choose their own valentine presents afterward. That should be lots of fun.

One day Kassie and I were together without the rest of the family, and we fiddled around in WalMart for a couple of hours. Oh, what a good time we had, laughing and giggling like two teenagers (one almost there, and one WAAAAAAY past those teenage years and riding a shopping scooter).

Little Georgia and I were sitting on the couch alone this afternoon, and she began to practice writing her ABCs. Then, she discovered all the letters to make her family's names were right tthere in the alphabet. So, she proudly showed them her first ever transcription of their names when they got back home. What fun to be able to spend those moments with her.

Y'all have a good evening.

Hi Colin, and Everyone else, too!

Coffee is the topic of the next Challenge.  Very good!  I mean the topic, well and the beverage.  I like mine quite strong, or as it's called today, Bold or Extra Bold.  For a little extra "punch" add a bit of chicory! :o

Here's a bit of enlightenment about the Light, from John 8...

Jesus once again addressed them: "I am the world's Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in."

The Pharisees objected, "All we have is your word on this. We need more than this to go on."

Jesus replied, "You're right that you only have my word. But you can depend on it being true. I know where I've come from and where I go next. You don't know where I'm from or where I'm headed. You decide according to what you can see and touch. I don't make judgments like that. But even if I did, my judgment would be true because I wouldn't make it out of the narrowness of my experience but in the largeness of the One who sent me, the Father. That fulfills the conditions set down in God's Law: that you can count on the testimony of two witnesses. And that is what you have: You have my word and you have the word of the Father who sent me."

Ruth Ann, your account of time with each of your granddaughters really made my heart smile.  Those moments are so special, don't you just want to hold them close to your heart, savor them, and never, ever forget them?

I spent the afternoon in my studio/scrapbooking room, threw away a lot of junk, got the tables cleared off, ready to scrap with my girls tomorrow!  :)  Diane has offered to make the dessert for dinner tomorrow, so that's a relief, too.

Since Mark goes to college in the town where Kerri works, I suggested she might like to call and invite him to ride down with them.  She did, he is, and that will save him the gas money, plus give them some time to visit.  We all stay too busy these days.

I did get ONE Valentine yesterday---from my dear friend, Pat.  :)

Hi everyone.  Not much has happened since I last wrote here on CP and I guess that is good.  Today should not be too busy.  We have a meeting to attend this morning and sometimes we go out to eat with some of the group for lunch but never know until it happens.

Janet, nice that Mark is going to be with the family.  Hope you had a wonderful time together.  It sounds like you had a house full of people.

Marilyn, I am glad that was the reason for the cutback and guess one rejoices when a person feels like doing more for themselves if they are being realistic.

Kevin, I don't share your appreciation of strong coffee.  I drink coffee but can't say it is my favorite and I certainly don't like it too strong.

Ruth Ann, what delightful memories you will have from your weekend here in Atlanta.  It sounds like some real bonding is occurring.

Hi Colin.

Karmat, what an experience you and Bernard had at the country club.  Glad it was such a fun evening for you and it sounds like your business got a big boost from the experience.  Glad that cast is off Kriski's arm.  What did she think of the skin under the cast?  :)

Time for morning coffee.  Hope everyone has a great day, I plan on doing just that.

Good Morning Everyone!

How nice to sit here and read all the posts.  I've had a very busy couple of days.  So good you had a good ride to Atlanta, Ruth Ann.

Hi Colin!

Everyone, have a wonderful day.  And get some "COFFEE" photos for our new challenge!

I will post this morning, as I likely won't have a chance later today.  I called Kerri and they were approaching Larned, so it will be another 1 1/2 hours before they arrive.  There will be 12 of us when everyone gets here!  Darrel just put a small turkey and a chicken in the roaster, that's going to be our dinner, of course with other things added.  I have some lasagna for lunch, along with a nice big salad.

Kerri likes scrapbooking, so that's what she wants to do this afternoon.  I hope Toni and Diane will come join us, too.

I am trying to get some laundry done and put away before they arrive, so will see you all later.

Hi, Pat!  Good to see you back.

Hope everyone has a good day.  We will miss our Etta Sue, won't we?

Good Morning or afternoon wherever you are. Morning here. I have just mopped the kitchen floor for the 2nd time. Hapy came in with dirty feet and tracked it up. I am busy cleaning house this morning and will walk the dogs  a little later.

Nothing else is new here.

The skin under Kristi's cast looked normal.  Maybe because she didn't have to wear it but two weeks.  The funny part was after it was off (the saw intimidated me, I can imagine she was terrified).  We were in an "open" lab type room where they put casts on, take them off, etc.  Separating us from the other patient was a young lady getting 63 stitches and 15 or so staples out from an ankle surgery (she had been in a car wreck, and had completely destroyed her ankle -- they had to "rebuild" the entire lower leg).  Anyway, they had already told her to "watch her language" because there was a very young child in the room.  (She did very well, I might add).  But, it was obvious listening that it was hurting BAD.  Apparently, she heals very quickly and the skin had grown around the staples, etc.  So, she was moaning and grunting, and Kristi's eyes got bigger, and bigger, and bigger.  She was scooted as close to me as she could get.  When I finally realized what was going on, I told her they wouldn't be doing anything like that to her.  She relaxed a little.

I told the tech, and they pushed the curtain back so Kristi could see what was going on (all of them were out by that time), and they let Kristi watch her (the carwreck girl) have her cast put on.

Then the tech that had put Kristi's cast on and taken it off gave her some ice cream cake, so she was feeling like quite the star by the time we left.  She  has, however, developed the habit of walking on her toes, so we have to remind her to use her whole foot, still. :)

Travis didn't have basketball practice/game this morning, so we were all able to sleep in and get some much needed rest.  He is doing so well in school.  I'm enjoying teaching him as well. :)

Take care and have a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Pat

Awwww, Karma, poor Kristi.  Thanks for the description of what went on.  Give her a big hug for me.

We're upgrading our forum software so please be patient.

There will be some tweaking to do over the next few days.

Watch THIS topic and post here with questions or comments.

We are changing the theme to a more "photograph acceptable" type of one.  The forum width on our older theme was too narrow for us to enjoy photographs properly so Oldiesmann is helping us with a new look.

This is just the default software of SMF and it just happens that the Cafe also use it.   So does SeniorNet!  This will be easier to maintain.   We have a few MODs that we'd like to add to the software and it's easier to do that when lots and lots of tweaks haven't been done like on our last theme.

Oldiesmann is going to try to fix the shoutbox and also we're going to have a MOD that will show the attached photos in a post without showing the thumbnail.

Here's Colin's video of a place I love!  I've walked all along that coast so very often and my heart yearns to return once again to the "auld sod"...  So, sit back and enjoy...

A lovely and sunny day here today infact so nice that I went to Barrie for a visit - house work can wait.

Nice changes to the site so far Pat.

Boy, am I ever tired tonight!  Diane's family have all gone home, and Kerri's are watching TV, looking at our China photos and visiting with Darrel.

We girls had such fun this afternoon playing with my new toy!!  Kerri brought me a Cricut (say cricket).  It is a personal cutting system that cuts letters, shapes, etc. for scrapbooking and cardmaking.  Pat came out for a while, too, to play with us.  What a fun machine, and it will be nice to have to share with the other girls we scrap with.

This is certainly a new look!  I am looking forward to seeing how it looks when all the tweaking is done.

I'm going to get ready for bed, it's been a loong day.  :sleepy:

Just to let you all know too that I was speaking to Judy this evening and she's so missing everyone here.

The motherboard on her computer is "fried" so she's not sure now what she's going to do.

Hey Janet, I had been selling those Cricut's on Ebay for the last 3 months.  I ran out of them last month.  They sold better than anything else we've put on there.  I just wish I could get another load of them.

Samantha--what price did you sell them?  I had never even SEEN one until yesterday!  But I had heard of them, once.  And how do you acquire a "load" of them to sell on eBay?  (My naturally inquisitive mind has gone into overdrive!)  Kerri said she saw "all kinds" of Cricuts on eBay, but she hasn't ever traded on there.

Ray is up, I made him a cup of coffee.  I'm trying to be quiet because Darrel, Kerri and Addison are still asleep, or trying to sleep, anyway.  :-X

I so want to attend church today, but if they don't want to go, probably I can't, as I don't want to do anything to alienate them in any way.  I'm rejoicing in the restored relationship, so want to do all in my power to preserve and improve it.

I need to go brew more coffee!

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast but not cold day and there is a storm front moving our way from Alabama.  I expect we will be home this afternoon before it gets here.  I will be keeping tabs on the weather.  I have a weather radio but must not have it set right as it never goes off.

We will be going to church today and I will be singing in the choir.  We have had a change in plans on our trip to Florida.  We had planned to leave on Wednesday and spend a couple of nights with our friends from here who spend the winters at Inverness, Florida.  However, they had a commitment with their community on Thursday so we just moved our plans with them to the beginning of next week.  It is nice being retired and having flexibility in our schedule.

Colin, this morning I looked at the video you have shared with us and really enjoyed it.  I found those rock formations so fascinating.  They look like they have been carved as the edges are so sharp looking.  I also enjoyed the music you had with it.  Thanks for sharing.

Janet, glad you are having such a good time with your family.  I have never heard of tha cutting device you got and will have to look it up to see what it looks like.  It must not be something you use with quilting as my wife hasn't said anything about it and am sure she would know about it if it were.

Pat, hope the software changes go well.  Your soup sounds good.  I like soup on cold days.  Sorry to hear that Judy's motherboard on her computer has been fried.  I was able to buy a new motherboard that matched the one I had in one of my computers.  Of course, you have to have someone put the pieces back together on the the board.  Fortunately my son had the experience and knowledge to do that.

Karmat, I am sure Kriski is glad to have the cast off and glad the skin hadn't been affected.  That is one of the memories I remember from having a cast on my arm when I was a youth and also when my wife had her ankle broken a number of years ago.

Good morning Marilyn, Samantha, Ruth and Sarah.  Nice to see your postings today.

Pat I noticed that there is no link to the gallery  in the header, Will that be one of the tweeks to be added? I did manage to get into the gallery yesterday by going to my own then  looking around from there.

Janet, we sell salvage and returned merchandise from major retailers, like Walmart, Kmart and Target.  Those Cricuts came in a few pallets of Walmart and from what I could tell, they were either returned because they were gifts and the person did not know what to do with them, or they were clearance items that never sold.  They all were in great condition.  We sold one for 171.00 and then the rest ran between 170 and 150. (We might have had approx.  $15.00 in each one).  That was for the inquiring mind! <3

Great church service this morning!  Can't wait for tonight, gotta go get ready.  Later 8)

Our Pastor is just back from Pastor School at  Pastor Barnett's Church in Phoenix. He is so on fire. he talked about a few changes he is going to be implementing in our church, one of which is a Saturday night service geared toward the youth of McKinleyville. Our Sunday school is going to be modified into a prayer group meeting 1 hour before church  on Sat. nite and Sun. morning to pray. There will be other changes too.

Thus far I like what y'all are doing on the website. It's brighter and much easier for me to read.

I'm back from Atlanta, and brought a deep, rattly cough with me and some really annoying sniffles. The Kleenex box and I will become great friends this evening, I believe. :D

A short prayer request - my son in Atlanta will be taking a new job beginning tomorrow. Will you pray with me that the transition will be smooth and that he and the family will adjust to all the changes it will make in their lives.

Y'all have a good evening.
