JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

It is always sad when a part of creation dies.  I am so glad there are so many here who love His creation and are saddened when there is death.  Yes Jane how/why did they die?

The rest of our puppies are doing well.  BIG and fat.  They will outsize mommy I do believe.

Our gas prices are out of site.  $1.32/liter or about $5.00 a US gallon.  The price went up seven cents in one day...ouch.  The unfortunate thing is the higher the cost of fuel goes the higher everything we use and buy rises.  Everything we own and touch is moved from point A to point B by truck and the truck fuel has risen as well.    Most of what we in Canada pay is a fuel tax.  I wish the Government would put a cap on the tax.

Well have to get, break is over

Ruth How is it going for you?

Have a great day.

Good afternoon.  The 'Peter Pan' musical was great.  There is one performer that performed in several shows so far.  He is tall, buggy-eyed...at least, can make his eyes buggy.  He is hilarious.  He played the father AND Captain Hook.  He made the musical into a musical comedy!  Great show!

Today is bright and sunny but chilly.  Still on 60° at almost 2pm.  I did some laundry today and decided to hang them outside.  Hope it dries!

We have had misty/moisty and cool weather the past two days.  Late this afternoon the sun came out.  I was really enjoying the cool, but needed a sweater at 55 degrees, down from 90!   That's Kansas!

Hi, Sarah!  Did you graduate?  I'm thinking you and Mark are the same age, which would mean you will be a senior this fall, right?

We spent the day in Liberal.  Got business taken care of, photos printed, shopped for all non-perishable foods for reunion, and then sat for nearly two hours in my doctor's office.  She had an emergency and was at the Emergency room at the hospital, but quickly attended the many patients waiting not so patiently in her crowded waiting room.  She is a wonderful doctor.  She says the pain in my hand(s) is coming from higher up, in my neck area, and prescribed some nerve medicine which I am to take at night.  She said it should help me sleep, which will be great, but I really don't like having to take medicine to get the sleep I need.

Our grandson Mark is moving into an apartment, so we now have the opportunity to get rid of---I mean SHARE some excess furniture, bedding, lamps, dishes, etc.  His parents are taking it up to him on Saturday.  I wish I could go, but cannot at this time.

Larry, I'm going to pretend I'm on vacation next week while at my painting class!  I need one!  And I so love to paint.  Dee and I will stay at the country bed-and-breakfast we enjoy, and Mary (the owner) spoils us rotten.  We love it!  :)

I will see you later.  Sorry about the puppy and the cygnets.   :(

Hi, friends, I'm in from a busy day at work and then dinner with my daughter. How nice it is when she's happy. Today she wanted to really celebrate - she's paid off her auto and received the title in the mail today.  :)

I'm dealing with lots of questions from my major client. They've begun to ask "who's gonna..." when you're gone??? So, I'm trying my best to help them sort it out. I have a feeling that "mass" meeting of 2 levels of regional management plus senior guys and gals in mid July will be pretty heavily involved with lots of what ifs.

Marilyn, so glad you're really enjoying life these days. Hope that if God wills it, the relationship will work out to His glory and to the best for each of you. I'll bet the doggies were REALLY glad to see you. ;D

It really saddens me to learn of the deaths of God's creatures, too. It will certainly be interesting to know what made the signets die.

Larry, my daughter was just telling me about pointing out to a firm that changed her oil and all the other stuff they do for a supposedly top-notch job, and she caught them in saying they had completed their checkup and found no problems, yet, the one who did the work admitted he didn't check certain things. So, they ended up replacing her back windshield wiper free, upgrading additional oil changes, and other things I can't remember right now. We really do need to be concerned a bout the level of service that we're paying for, don't we.

My parents, on the other hand, trained me from an early age that I must "be a workman worthy of my hire" as I'm admonished in scripture to do. Not too long ago I was speaking with a former client who complimented my attention to detail and I felt impressed to answer with that phrase. He ended up asking for the scripture reference, and we looked it up in Bible.com.

Sarah, my goodness! You make me breathless.

And, Scottie, it's so good to have you participating. Can you get your sis more involved, too?

I know I've not mentioned everyone, but y'all know I love you and eagerly read all you write.

Have a good evening.

Hi everyone on a overcast Thursday morning in Georgia.  They predicted rain all day but none has appeared.

We had a nice day yesterday by first attending Bible study with the pastor, then we went with friends to Dunkin' Donut, while freezing in the cold temps at that place as usual, had a nice time visiting with  our friends.  The men always sit together and the ladies together.  Yesterday we had to admonish the ladies as they were having such a good time we couldn't hear each other to talk.

Then Pat and I ate at a buffet called Baby Jane's.  The food was good and the price was really good, only $5.49 for seniors.  I don't think you can afford to feed yourself at home for that considering the large variety of vegetables and other foods available.

We then had a quiet afternoon.  I watched a movie called "Glory Road", which is the true story of Don Haskins and the Texas Miners.  He was a young basketball coach who recruited seven black players and molded the team, after a lot of hardships, into a national champion.  I thought it was a very good movie.

Finally, I had choir practice last evening.  Our choir director sings in a chamber music group and they have a concert this Saturday night that she invited us to attend.  Several of us are going to meet at the church and take the church van to the concert.  I am looking forward to it as the one I attended yesterday was excellent.  These are all trained musicians and they use a small chamber orchestra to accompany the choir.

Today I am taking a elderly friend for a medical followup appointment.  He isn't well and not up to driving himself.  It is about a 20 mile trip from his house to Emory Medical Complex.  I don't have any other commitments for the day.

Janet, glad you are going to be able to get away and just do something that you really enjoy and will have time to rest for several days.

Jane, sorry to hear about the swans.  Sometimes nature seems very cruel but that is a part of the circle of life.

Soon be time for coffee and I see I have written another book there this morning.

Topsy-turvy day!  I wasn't planning on doing anything but getting my sewing machine out and mending a few things.  But Ivalou called and asked if I had had lunch.  No.  She had an appointment at 1 to get a heart monitor at the cardiologist and some new pads at the cardio-som place for her sleep machine and wanted to know if I wanted to go with her and eat Chinese afterwards.

In the meantime, Barb called and asked when could we go out to eat for Kaye Don's birthday, Saturday 31st.  I told her I could go anytime.  Ask Ivalou.  So after Ivalou got the heart monitor she is to take it back tomorrow afternoon.  So we are going for Chinese this evening for Kaye Don's birthday.  Ivalou and I had Arby's for lunch.

Barb had said that they were going to mow but I wasn't planning on mowing until tomorrow.  But it is suppose to rain tomorrow.  Ivalou asked the heart doctor if she could mow.  NO!  So I mowed Ivalou's front yard and mine.  Barb mowed Ivalou's back yard.

Then in for the second shower for today!

Gotta run.  Suppose to be at Barb and Kaye Don's in fifteen minutes.

Janet

Hi kids.  Good to read all your postings.  I don't have much to add.

Today was Mom's birthday, she is 92.  She is in good health, says she doesn't have an ache or a pain.  (Wish I could say that!)  They have a party once a month for all the birthdays in that month, and today was the day, so after I got my ladies started painting, I went in for about 45 minutes for the party.  I think there were 5 birthday people this month there.

I am so tired today I can barely function, so I'm about to take one of those Lyrica pills the Dr. prescribed for me yesterday and go to bed.  I sure hope I sleep, because I have to work tomorrow, beginning at 6 AM.  If I don't start getting more sleep, I will have to give up the job, I guess.

Hi Everyone...

I've just been spending time trying to get rested up after the big day.  Amazing how very tired and exhausted you get after a big event that you've planned and prayed about for quite some time.

Jane, I'm so sorry about the swans.

Nice shaving job on the dog, Marilyn!

Sorry you're so tired, Janet!  Look after yourself.

Pat, I just took a trip through your wedding pictures.  Soooo beautiful.  You are a radiant bride.   And Paul so handsome.  And the best of all........you both love the Lord and your marriage is centered on Him.

I was wishing I could find a way to view them as a slide show, but was able to click on each one and view that way.  Smiling all the way. :)

Congratulations to you both.  love, nita

How wonderful, Pat. It's great to "be able to attend in absentia!" The photos are wonderful, and to see the love and pride the family members have of both of you is fantastic.

Y'all have a good evening. I'm heading to bed!  ^-^

Hi everyone.  Pat and Paul, I was certainly hoping you would share more of your wedding pictures when you had a little time.  The word "radiant" also came to my mind as I looked at the pictures and saw you both in the joy of the moment.  It was also nice to see some of the other family members pictures that we have heard about over a period of time.  You both have very lovely families.

Had a quiet day yesterday other than taking my friend for his doctor's appointment, which was uneventful.  I was home by noon and had a quiet afternoon.

Pat and I have a meeting to attend this morning and then will go out to lunch with the group.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Janet, alarmed to hear about how tired you are.  I am sure your husband is very concerned as well.  Please do what you need to do to take care of yourself.  It sounds like your mother is one of those persons blessed with very good health--what a blessing.

Etta Sue, isn't it nice to be able to adjust to the demands of the day.

My ride is here for coffee.

Marilyn

Good mornig, I don't have much time before I leave for work.
so I am just running  :run: through here this morning. Will be of work at noon and must try to get into Eureka to the Chiropractor today. I have needed to go since my fall but  was afraid because of my ribs. They are better now no more pain.

Great Photo album Pat you both look so happy.

Gotta go now.

First of all, I loved all the wedding pictures and Pat....you are beautiful!!  I loved seeing less of you.  You have really lost some weight!  Love does that, I guess!

Well, on the way back from Chinese, we were on a straight county road.  There were 2-3 bicyclist on the road.  Kaye Don went to pass and looked in the rearview mirror and saw a car passing him going lickety-split.  Kaye Don turned back to the right and put on his brake barely missing a biker.  The guy sped on past.  Kaye Don sped up and caught up with the guy.  At a stop sign, he pulled beside the guy and put the windows down.  He said, 'Do you realized you just about wiped us all out?'  The guy said, 'I didn't see the bikers until I passed you.'  I told him, 'That's because you were going way too fast for any highway!'  He got mad, turned right and sped towards Lapel.....while a little boy (2-3 years old) was in the front seat with no seat belt on!!!  Grrr!

Today I am planning on mending some items!!

Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. H for the pictures of the wedding - they're great!  This way we get to see lots of people we've only read about or "talked" to on this funny little box.

Liz

I have just viewed the wedding photo's and they are delightful.  Thanks for giving all of us the chance to share in a special day.

Cold again this morning.  The weather is warm one minute and like fall the next.  I was out feeding the bunnies yest. and had to go back in and put on a warm jacket.  Started out in a light sweater and was warm...no I am not that slow, the weather changes that fast!

The kids are coming back tonight and I am surely glad.  Think pretty soon they are going to need a sitter for me and all the animals.  I am plumb tuckered!

Have a Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Hi, friends,

Good to see all of y'all again.

I agree, it's so great to see the pictures of the folks we've grown to love down through the years.

And, Marilyn, no wonder you call your dog "Happy" - I love that grin on his face.  :)

Janet - watch it that you don't work too much.

And, Carol, I'm keeping up with your comments about selling the house. I've gotta get started with my renovation right away, and am scared to death because of the bad experiences friends have had when using people to fix/renovate their homes. Yikes!

Larry, enjoy your comments, too.And Etta Sue's graphics and the accounts of her days - wow, I hope I enjoy retirement as much as all of y'all who are retired seem to. :) Also, those of so many others - Judy, Jane, Nita, Karma,  and I'm gonna offend some because I forgot to mention y'all, too. Yikes, again!!!

Have a good rest of the day.

Ruth Ann, I am  :'( because you didn't mention me!  NOT!  I'm joking, of course.

I'm just saying hello and goodbye, and going back to see Pat's photos.  Then it's off to bed with me!

Well, I just went and deleted my albums.

It was really nice today.  I was able to finish the back yard and part of the front and side.  My yards are pretty big, and the grass had gotten so high that I felt I was haying rather than mowing.  I'd like to finish up tomorrow and then to the weed eater.  Fun, fun, fun...

Talk atcha later (as Jane says)  Nita

Jane Walker

Hey there, Nita ... I mowed  cut the grass in my yard today, too ... wasn't a fun thing to do but it was a necessity.

Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to pull a few more weeds and my yard will look less like a jungle.

Love y'all ... see y'all later... or I'll talkatcha later ... whichever y'all want to b'lieve.   :)

Character with Age

"Like a shock of corn fully ripe" (Job 5:26).

A gentleman, writing about the breaking up of old ships, recently said that it is not the age alone which improves the quality of the fiber in the wood of an old vessel, but the straining and wrenching of the vessel by the sea, the chemical action of the bilge water, and of many kinds of cargoes.

Some planks and veneers made from an oak beam which had been part of a ship eighty years old were exhibited a few years ago at a fashionable furniture store on Broadway, New York, and attracted general notice for the exquisite coloring and beautiful grain.

Equally striking were some beams of mahogany taken from a bark which sailed the seas sixty years ago. The years and the traffic had contracted the pores and deepened the color, until it looked as superb in its chromatic intensity as an antique Chinese vase. It was made into a cabinet, and has today a place of honor in the drawing-room of a wealthy New York family.

So there is a vast difference between the quality of old people who have lived flabby, self-indulgent, useless lives, and the fiber of those who have sailed all seas and carried all cargoes as the servants of God and the helpers of their fellow men.

Not only the wrenching and straining of life, but also something of the sweetness of the cargoes carried get into the very pores and fiber of character. --Louis Albert Banks

When the sun goes below the horizon he is not set; the heavens glow for a full hour after his departure. And when a great and good man sets, the sky of this world is luminous long after he is out of sight. Such a man cannot die out of this world. When he goes he leaves behind him much of himself. Being dead, he speaks. --Beecher

When Victor Hugo was past eighty years of age he gave expression to his religious faith in these sublime sentences: "I feel in myself the future life. I am like a forest which has been more than once cut down. The new shoots are livelier than ever. I am rising toward the sky. The sunshine is on my head. The earth gives me its generous sap, but Heaven lights me with its unknown worlds.

"You say the soul is nothing but the resultant of the bodily powers. Why, then, is my soul more luminous when my bodily powers begin to fail? Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart. I breathe at this hour the fragrance of the lilacs, the violets, and the roses as at twenty years. The nearer I approach the end the plainer I hear around me the immortal symphonies of the worlds which invite me. It is marvelous, yet simple."

Hi Nita and Jane y-all were up late last night. I did my mowing earlier in the week. Keith will mow again  next weekend when he comes down. He will be borrowing my electric weedeater. He doesn't like to use the gas kind, I have one of those too, but I have never used it, too heavy. There was  no sun here yesterday at at all.

I went to Eureka yesterday to the Chiropractor and it is great to leave home hurting and come back pain free. Hallelujah. I should have gone on to Winco to get a few groceries, but didn't realize how much I really needed, didn't make a list. Now I need to make a list and do my shopping here.

Happy looks like an entirely different dog now an he is also a lot more active and not so lazy. He loves taking  his walks but now he sort of prances along like he is showing off. Hard to believe he is 11 years old. He also doesn't look like  he is so fat without all that fur, still overweight tho'.

I actually slept in this morning, I woke at 3:55, went back to sleep and didn't wake again until 5:30.

Have any of you tried the Sumatra grind of coffee? It has such a mellow taste, very light, not bitter. Gilbert got some for me a couple of years ago and I am totally spoiled. Recently I bought some of the dark roast , yuck ! way to bitter for me. I don't use my Stevia (natural sweetener from the Stevia leaf) in my coffee just a little creamer, but with the  dark roast I sure had use a lot more creamer and the Stevia too and it was still too bitter.

Hi everyone.  It is truly a beautiful day here in Georgia.  Not too much on the agenda today.  We are attending a meeting this morning and then there is a luncheon (yes another one) following.  Then will have a quiet afternoon.  I forgot that this evening I am attending the concert where our choir director is singing.  This is a group called Elysium.  Here is a link to their website if you are interested:   http://www.elysiumchamber.org/  I am looking forward to the concert.  I thought we were going as a group in the church bus but yesterday found out the man who was going to drive has an expired driver's license so we are taking cars.  I agreed to drive since I have my GPS, which takes a lot of the doubt about where you are going from the trip to a new location, which this is.

Marilyn, glad the chiropractor helped you.

Liz, I know you will be happy to have your family back home safe and sound.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Ruth Ann Bice

I don't have to use it very often, Larry, but that GPS gift last Christmas was one of the best gifts I've ever received!

And, I wish we would have a GPS system for our lives, so we could feel certain our choices are the best ones to make to take us to our ultimate destination - with our beloved Saviour!

Now, I'm tentatively exploring how best to let God handle my life after retirement.

I am able to rest a bit today, but will also do quite a bit of work in the kitchen.

Y'all have a great day!

Ruth Ann ~ We do have a GPS for our lives....it's called The Bible.  But then, I know you know that.   ^-^

Whew!!  Central Indiana sure was stirred up last night.  I didn't go to bed until after midnight because of storms.  The TV was showing the radar of the storms heading my way!  Then instead of the twister going southwest to northeast, it went east!  Missed me.  But a town just 8 miles south had some damage but not really bad.  Since this was on a Friday night, we may not know all the damage until Monday when we get our newpapers since most Saturday papers are printed Friday nights.  I never saw the lightening so intense.  One weatherman said 10,000 strikes in a half an hour!!  And thunder!!

Tonight Kaye Don, Barb, Ivalou and I are going to a high school graduation.  Justyn is Barb and Kaye Don's grandson.  Afterwards is the Open House at one of Justyn's friends.  They have a Christian band and are playing.  Hope it isn't hard rock!!!  May need to take my earplugs!!

Today it is bright and sunny.  Can't believe it after the storm last night.  I have my sheets hanging on the line to dry outside!!

Forgot!  I went to the gallery and was deleting my pictures one by one.  Bunch of pictures.  I only had two albums and I went to the next album and saw I could delete the album.  I did and it and all the pictures were gone!!  Took me a half hour to do the first album!!   :idiot:  :uglystupid:
