Oh how I want to be chained only by the chains of Christ's love!

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 59

God intended for David to be king, and no matter all the scheming of the wicked one, no matter all the plots to kill him, no matter all the lying in wait, no matter all the great armies that marched against him - David would be king.  David trusted that he would be kept in safety by the One Who had promised his kingdom to him in the first place no matter what all the world might do.

It was the same for our Lord Jesus as well.  Though Herod tried to kill Him immediately after His birth, though the Sanhedrin and the chief priest mocked Him and plotted against Him, and, finally, even though Pilate gave the order to crucify Him - yet death could not hold Him - and He IS King and will experience only ultimate and total triumph.

And, because Jesus Christ is Lord of His Church, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. They are His people, He is their King, and both they and He will experience ultimate and total triumph.  We can draw comfort from that.  But we need to be aware of another conclusion as well: we need to be aware of the hopelessness of His enemies!  How much easier their lot could be through repentance – through ending their rebellion and returning to their rightful King – in other words through joining in His triumph!

But they can't do it.  The greatest, probably the most awful part of their sentence for rebellion is to be chained - by their own sin - in the grim darkness of inability to repent or to see the truth!  They are UNABLE to cease from sin.  They are prisoners, prisoners who are chained forever to their own fallen nature!  The Lord, and the Lord alone, will be triumphant in the end.

Oh may our Lord keep each of us from chains like that!  Oh how we need Him to keep our hearts tender toward Him!  Oh how we need always to be moved to repent and to return to Him!   Oh may He keep us from opposing Him and being hardened, and keep us instead loyal, worshipful, learning, humble, and glad members of His Kingdom! The chains of sin are easy to slip on - but impossible to remove!  Oh Lord, keep us from sin even this day!  Amen.

Channels Only
(Click to hear music)

If a man therefore purge himself from these,
he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified,
and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work.

II Timothy 2:21

Author:  Mary E. Maxwell, 20th Century
Musician:  Ada Rose Gibbs, 1865-1905

How I praise Thee, precious Saviour,
That Thy love laid hold of me;
Thou hast saved and cleansed and filled me
That I might Thy channel be.

Refrain:
Channels only, blessed Master,
But with all Thy wondrous pow'r
Flowing thro' us, Thou canst use us
Ev'ry day and ev'ry hour.

Just a channel, full of blessing
To the thirsty hearts around;
To tell out Thy full salvation,
All Thy loving message sound.

Emptied that Thou shouldest fill me,
A clean vessel in Thy hand;
With no pow'r but as Thou givest
Graciously with each command.

Witnessing Thy pow'r to save me,
Setting free from self and sin;
Thou who boughtest to possess me,
In Thy fullness, Lord, come in.

Jesus, fill now with Thy Spirit
Hearts that full surrender know;
That the streams of living water
From our inner man may flow.

Wow here it is Saturday evening and I am the first one to post for the next week. Thank you Al for the devotion and your interpretation of Psalm 59. I  love the Psalms. they ar beautiful if you read them as the songs they are.

I have been working on my website off an on today, I had to take time out to  get away from the computer and get some exercise, so I took the dogs for their walks.

We made the rounds this morning to Walmart for a few things, the pet store to get  dry food for the dogs and cats. This afternoon we went to Bi-Mart to pick up Keith's meds and to the Auto parts store for some touch up paint and a couple of fuses for the Camaro.

We will be going to Portland to visit Keith's sons probably next weekend if he can reach the oldest on the phone this week. It will be my first time going to Portland, I have never been there before.

Talk about being quick!  I hadn't even finished posting the new "Thoughts" yet when, Marilyn, you had posted!

:)  Al.  Thanks for the devotional and it is a great way as you think about the pain that the chains would have caused.   The song is a beautiful old one and today I was singing at a Christian Transportation Convention at a beautiful bible conference grounds and it went well one of the songs that I sang was  It Took A Miracle and the many older people that were there enjoyed that.  I feel it a wonderful privilege to be able to sing for the Lord.

I do hope that all on C.P. have a wonderful day in the House of the Lord tomorrow and that the message that you here will be an inspiration to you.

have A GREAT DAY.  Gordon AND Noreen. :) :cp: :pine: :bananadance:

Today is Race Day in Indy.  At least the radio is talking about the traffic around the Speedway.

Yes, Marilyn, Kindle is free on Android but some of the books are not.  I paid for two books...the rest have been free.  I enjoy reading books on Kindle/Droid.

I am all ready for church.  Ivalou is driving so I have to watch for her to come into the drive.  The grass is wet!

I talked to a classmate yesterday that has been lost.  I got an address and phone number from another classmate and I called the number.  It was her!  She has moved around a lot and found out her husband was in the military.  Now she and her second husband lives in North Carolina to be near her son.  So glad we found her!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on the Memorial Day weekend here in the USA.  It is going to be a nice one here in Georgia.  After church we are driving to Madison, GA to meet our son and DIL to celebrate her birthday with a good meal and a good time.

Etta Sue, nice to see you had a good time on your excursion away form home but know you always do.  I do have LiveBible on my new smart phone and also have it on the iPod Touch.  I have three versions loaded on the phone.  I like the feature of hearing it read while reading it.  I have the Kindle and the Barnes and Noble Nook ebooks reader apps on it and the Nook is the best I have seen on these small devices.  Great you were able to reestablish contact with your former classmate.

Marilyn, I am not Etta Sue but have used both the Kindle and the Nook and several other of the ebook readers on my Touch and they work very well.  There are many books available free to download and B&N offers a free book each Friday, although not all are of interest to me.  One thing I really like about the Android is the ability to have more than one application run at a time such as listening to music from the radio and reading or working on another app.

Janet, I know you will do what is best for you on the job offer.  However, I remember how tired you seemed to be when you worked so much.  When you put the cable from your camera into the USB plug it will likely start the software for the camera and guide you through the process.  If it doesn't your computer will recognize th camera memory as another disk and you will see another letter associated with it.  Just open your windows explorer (file manager) program and you should be able to see it.  Then just click on the folders until you find the one with the pictures.  If you get stuck on that just give me a call and perhaps I can walk you through the process.

Jeanne, I haven't seen bananas that high in our markets here.  I have eaten so many bananas over the years that I have sort of tired of them but still try to eat them fairly regularly.

Al, thanks for that posting about prayer and the new devotional though.  I think life would seem to bleak for those who do not believe in God and in Jesus Christ.

Gord, I love that song you sang as well.  There are so many miracles in our lives and so often we fair to recognize and acknowledge them to God.

Gord Brown

:    Good morning to all and we are also ready to go to church but I am dropping my wife of today as I have my large choir which is out of town and I have to go to meet a fellow choir member.  Be back later.  God bless.   Gordon.

Good morning everyone,  Not much going on here today, just the usual  Sunday things, although we did the Walmart run yesterday so no Walmart today.

It looks like it is going to be a day of sun and clouds and I hope it doesn't rain today. But this is Oregon so you never know when the weather will change.

Al:  thank you for devotions.  I also like what you wrote on how we should pray and do indeed try to frame a prayer as something like praying for acceptance and full faith in what happens, happens.  Tough at times.  We were reminded of this in service this morning.

I went to church but Don is coming down with a chest cold & feeling the heaviness so he stayed home.  I came straight home and this morning thought about a younger cousin who was battling brain cancer and soon after the phone call came that Paul had died this early morning.  He had cancer for quite a few years and was prepared for the end.  We cannot get to the funeral and Don is not well enough to travel now - it is about 1,000 mile drive and we have made it before but there are so many relatives that we cannot get to all the gatherings.

Don't forget to fly the flag tomorrow.  (for those in the US) - We have been at war for ten years and it is hard to believe this still goes on.

This is the Lord's Day and I will be glad.

I am just busy relaxing and yes staying out of trouble. I was going to purchase some plants to finish with the flower beds but that will wait until tomorrow.  Later this evening I will be making a jelled salad and perhaps a cream cheese cake as I am going out for pot luck dinner tomorrow,as this the last game of Euchre until September.  There will be lots of food for sure.

Another project I have is trying to figure out how to make a fabric book cover, I do have a pattern which seems so complicated.

To the rest of you have a great day.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet

Larry, I got the disc (software) installed on the computer and downloaded the photos from the camera, but am having trouble figuring out how to edit and delete.  Mark told me to go to my computer and find them from there and it should be easier, so will try that.  If  I get in trouble, I will give you a call.  I used to do that stuff nearly every day, but now have forgotten all of it, and can't find the tutorial on here, either.  Have to go look again.

Darrel and I ate at Pizza Hut after church, then came home and changed clothes; then went to the cemetery and put out flowers on his family's graves.  We anchored them down as well as we could, but the wind has been howling all afternoon, so those flowers my be in Lakin by now!  I will go out in the morning and check on them.

I have been searching for inspiration for something to paint next week in my class in Flowler.  I want to do a lovely scenery one; haven't found THE one yet.

Carol, I hope your husband feels better real soon.  Sorry for the loss of your cousin.

Well, guess I will try again to figure out the photo problem.  Bye!

Hi everyone on this Memorial Day in the USA.

We had a nice visit with our son and DIL, although it was only a little over an hour.  Our DIL wasn't feeling well and wasn't very conversant.  However, we enjoyed being with them and sharing a meal.  They both look better as have each lost a lot of weight.  Our son has taken off 75 pounds and our DIL almost 50.

Have a quiet day planned or unplanned today.  We don't even have our usual Monday men's luncheon as decided to take the holiday off.  I will work more on understanding my new smart phone.  There is a lot of learn.  Fortunately my friend and I have both gotten the Android phones about the same time and can help each other, although he will probably do the most helping as he has had his longer.

Carol, thanks for the reminder about the flag.  I have a small flag on a stick that I can place in the ground and attach to my mailbox.  It is sad to lose a relative.

Janet, it must be very satisfying to find a picture and be able to recreate it in a painting.

Soon time for coffee this morning. Looking forward to it.

Jeanne Lee

Janet, all the "How To" topics are HERE  If you can't find what you need from that list, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

I'm hoping none of my neighbors were looking out their windows at 5:30 this morning.  That's when I went onto the front porch and lowered my flag to 1/2 staff.  In my nightgown.   ;D

I hit a wrong button just as I was finishing up a long post. Now, it's time to try to reconstruct it.

Today's news informed me that flags are to be lowered for the first half of the day in honor of our deceased service members, and then raised at noon to honor those currently in the armed forces.

Y'all have a good day.

When you 'lose' a post, click the 'go back' button before doing anything else.  It works for me.  Takes me back to the page I was composing on!

Kaye Don called me last evening late...scares me when he calls that late but must remember when they are 'home' that he does this...and asked if I could go out to breakfast with him, Barb and Ivalou.  Sure.  But the catch was he wanted to leave before 8am!  I told him, I could do that since I can take a nap if needed in the afternoon!  Ha!  So we have all been coffee'd and fed!  It was for Kaye Don's birthday tomorrow.

Now I am doing some laundry.  I need to get my house key to Kitty to take care of my kitties Thursday thru Sunday.  They are going to Ohio the 1st and we are going the 2nd.  So it is today or tomorrow and she is going to be gone all day tomorrow!

What a difference a few days makes in Indiana.  A few days ago, it didn't even get to mid 60's and yesterday and today was and is to be in the 90's!!  Thank God for A/C!

Enjoy the holiday!!

Thanks, Jeanne.  I had gone looking, and the good thing was I saw a lot of photos I hadn't previously seen; bad news was I didn't find the how-tos!  I worked quite a while last night, figured out how to delete bad photos, plus the doubles I had downloaded.  :idiot:  I am determined to relearn how to post photos, need to learn the new software from the new camera so I can edit and improve and resize, etc.

And thanks to both you, Jeanne and to Larry for your offers of help with this.  I need all the help I can get!

I'm heading out to the cemetery to attend the Military ceremonies, and to see if the flowers we put there yesterday have blown away.  Still blowing today.  Yuck.

:)   Good day to all.   We are having a very quick heat wave as it has hit us in the last couple of days.  The temp is around 87 too 90 degrees  F.   And a bit humid but we will take it as the farmers need this so that they can catch up as they are so far behind.

Janet:  Don't feel bad about not being able to post pictures that is something that I have never tried but would like to be able to do it. Hope that you are enjoying your holiday today.

Al:   How is your health doing I do hope that you are out of the lazy boy and back into your own bed. I hope that your wife is good to.

Judy B.  Still waiting for that call.  Sis.

We

Our Choir that I sing in had our last concert last night and that was our 75th. one and it went very well and a rough guess there was at least 75 plus voices singing for those of you who don't know it is a barber shop style choir and the perts are Bass, Baritone, Lead and Tenor and we sing all gospel music and we have a lot of fun.   We sing all over southern Ontario.

I also had the op pertunity to sing solo on Saturday at a conference and that went excellent.  Well I must go for now hope that you all have a wonderful week and again may the Lord give you many opportunities to be a witness for him.   God bless to all.   Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :hello: :excited: :nanadance:

Carol

We have the flag out and did not know any news about lowering it half day - it may not be possible with the container the flag is set in by the front of the house.

My walk yesterday was cut short because I spotted a humongous snake stretched across the entire walking path - yes, I stopped & stared while it finally went into the grass.  It was most likely a bull snake but there are rattlesnakes in the area so I did not stop to check it out but warned some walkers with dogs.  Heart beat was up for the next hour.  Today, I made myself go right back to that old ranch area and walk the same path - nothing around but a neighbor had seen a deer.  I would never have made it as a pioneer out here  ::)

Today, must knit a little - work on a little genealogy tomorrow (that is not interesting so far) - make meatballs, and am cleaning iPod audio books.  Winds are picking up with gusts to be 60 mph so there is no sitting on the deck.

Janet

I'm really praying that no fires get started anywhere in our region today, as the wind is over 50 mph.  UGH.  I hate wind and dirt blowing, and it is
SO dry here.  It will take several inches of moisture to get it back into anything like normal conditions.  But.......still better than tornados or floods, or earthquakes, either.  So we must be thankful for the protection of our loving Father.

I am going to move some furniture.  I'm so restless today and can't seem to settle down to anything but need to accomplish something!!

I want to honor two of my sons who have served this  country in the US Navy
Donald Thompson served 4 years on the  Josephus Daniels. Ronald Thompson served 9 years first on a ship that I can't remember the name of out of Norfolk Va., then on the Kitty Hawk Aircraft carrier, and at the Concord Naval Weapons Station. They are a blessing to me and to the United states of America.

Hi everyone.  Wow, what a hot day we had here yesterday and the remainder of the week is to be in the low to mid 90s.  Will be staying in as much as possible.  Thankful for the AC in the cars as well.

I have to call and get a new internet account setup.  By moving our home number to my cellphone I have to establish a new internet account.  Hope that doesn't take ten days or will be without service for a bit.  I will still have my smart phone so not cut off from the world if that happens.

I have a meeting this morning and a luncheon with the ROMEO's from my church this afternoon.  That will be enough for one day.

I had not heard that about the flags.  Since mine is just a very small one fixed on a dowel I could not lower it.  At least I did remember to put it out and then take it in before dark.

Etta Sue, that technique also works for me in using the back button to recover what I have written if it times out or otherwise doesn't post.  I have a 24 inch monitor and have started opening two browser tabs at the same time by splitting the screen.  With Windows 7 (and I don't remember about the other versions) I can hold down the windows key and the right or left arrow button to make that active page take up one half of the screen.  I then just grab an empty tab and pull it over to the desktop and repeat the process using the opposite arrow key and the windows key.  Then I open the discussion and scroll to the posting box and can write as I read and not rely on my memory or have to scroll back and forth.

Gord, do you have AC?  Wish I could hear you sing?  Glad your concerts went well, as well as your solo.

Carol, I don't like to see any snake.  I don't blame you for not going on.  Perhaps you need one of those forked walking sticks that would pin a snake if it came at you (perish the thought).

Marilyn, your sons certainly served their county and deserve our grateful thanks.  Thanks for sharing that with us.

Janet

I now have a nice desk in the living room for my laptop.  I had been using a narrow folding table for many months, and this will be better because now I have NINE drawers in which to put stuff!  This is a very old desk; Darrel says he remembers his Mother using it all his life, and thinks it masy have been his grandmother's before that.

The housekeeper was here for her bi-weekly two hours, so the kitchen floor is clean again, puls a few other things.

No news today from this corner of the world.

Last week it was mid-60's.  Today it is to get to 93°!!  So....when I took the trash today I walked through the grass with my sandals on and it was a little damp with dew.  So I decided to wait about an hour and mow.  I fixed my breakfast, read my devotions and did my back exercises.

Then I opened the garage door and took my weed killer outside and sprayed some weeds.  Then I mowed the grass.  Then used the weed-eater.

I came in and got my shower and fixed a bite for lunch.

This evening is Beef and Boards and we are going to see 'Cinderella'.  I know the story so now to see how they put this on stage.  Betty is driving here around 5:15 and then I am driving her car to Beef and Boards.  She doesn't do traffic and night driving.

That's it for central Indiana.  Bright and sunny out there with some wind. Suppose to have some showers later but nothing long or extreme.

Larry and Marilyn, I downloaded Nook yesterday on Droid.  So now I have Kindle and Nook.  I had better start reading!!  Also downloaded TuneIn Radio.  Now I can listen to my local country music or Christian music.  By then I was running out of space and had to delete some things I seldom use.

Certainly not IMPOSSIBLE - otherwise the pot pie would exist!  ;DI, too greatly honor my 2 sons who served in the military - one was in the first Iraq war serving as commander of a POW camp and the other served in the Air Force - I never knew his position - what he did was classified.

I also honor those of our midst who served and pray for the wounded.
