JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Well, Marbeth and I just had a short time of prayer.  It's actually really something that concerns us all - this "Economic Stimulus Payment."  We received a notice that we'll be getting it any day now. (Why did our dear govt. have to notify us that it's coming?  So they could spend money on the  mailing, of course)  Anyway, we prayed for wisdom and discernment to know what to do with it.  May our God give us all grace for this.  It's a foolish thing our govt. is doing, but we're going to receive it anyway, so may He give us grace to deal with it.

Janet

Al, I sure agree, it is foolish and useless, but many (well all, probably) will enjoy the money.  We haven't even discussed where ours may go--into savings, likely.

I finally got a few hours' sleep last night without a pill.  I do NOT want t get addicted to sleeping pills!  I injured my right hand rather badly this morning.  It has been giving me a lot of pain, anyway, and I have an appointment next week with my hand surgeon, Dr. Rane.  Anyway, I was cleaning the stove in the back kitchen, had the top of it propped up on a Windex bottle (bad idea!) and it slipped.  The top fell on my hand, cutting it across the back of the hand and bruising it badly.  It hurt like thunder!  I wanted to cry,  :'( but that's not my style.  Darrel was having a crisis of his own, as when he went to hook the gas back up to the stove, the gas line broke inside the wall, and gas was escaping fast.  He was frantically trying to get that stopped and repair the pipe.  When he got it done, I showed him my hand, and he told me I'd better go sit down a while.  It made me sick to my stomach and gave me a headache.  When we went to the Senior center, I went in and saw the nurses, who put more peroxide on it, put steri-strips across the cut, then bandaged it, and sent me next door to the county health dept. for a tetanus shot.  That was $29 as Medicare doesn't pay it.

This afternoon my painting class came, and we had a good afternoon.  I also did laundry, changed sheets out at Beth's trailer and did more cleaning.  I would like to have all, or nearly all the work done before my painting class in Fowler the first week of June.

Today was the last day of school here in our town.  I wonder who is happier, the kids or the teachers?  Probably the teachers!

I hope to make a much more cheerful  :) :D ;D 8) post tomorrow!

Pat, should you pop in, know I'm thinking of you and Paul!

I don't have to think about what I'm doing with my stimulus check.  All $300 will go on a stove oil delivery.  With summer coming, that will last me till next winter. And I am truly blessed by the timing.  I looked at the IRS site, and found out, as I didn't do an auto deposit, and by the last two numbers on my SS, mine won't be sent out until early July.

Yes, we're all thinking of PAT and PAUL and their upcoming marriage. :)

Janet, owie, owie, owie.  I remember I had a window slam on my hand and I couldn't get it open again.  I finally did, but it sure did hurt.

Windy and heavy mist all day.  I just heard it's 54 here now.  This kind of weather makes me sleepy.  I took a nice nap in my chair earlier.  Got woke up by the phone, as usually happens. lol

Ruth, I don't know what's going on in your life, but God does.  I'm praying for healing and comfort as others are doing the same.  Bless your heart.

Nita

Carol

I just had a phone call that one of our pastors (we have two) had a lot of damage from the series of tornadoes that came through this area.  We will go and do what we can to help clean tomorrow & we also have a showing between 3 to 4 PM here at our house.  We have to bring any charged tools, hammers, tarps & Don wants to bring his tall ladder.  Any cleaning supplies - I will see what we can put together.  The highway in there is open now.

Would appreciate any prayers for safety for everyone.

Nita:  It is good that you can use the money to stay warm as the costs of everything keep going up.

Marilyn:  We do know the right person will come along.  Tuesday, we leave for fishing in northern Minnesota for ten days.  It has been Don's dream to go to the lake where his dad took him as a boy and I told him to make it happen this year and guess what?  He decided to put the house up for sale before the fishing dates.  Guess what again - the ice is just coming off the lake. I will freeze.  I hope that you are mending.  Take care.

Hi Pat!!!!!! :)

ScottyBoy

Sorry to here about your hand, Janet. :-\ Get better soon. :)

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, I got to leave work again a bit early, so visited a friend who just had a knee replacement. Then came home and fixed a stir fry and used oriental flavorings with it. Yummy!

After that came some time to rest, and now's time to enjoy the internet a few moments.

There will practically be no one working tomorrow, so it should be a quiet day. Only problem is that since the email system was broken all day today and all day yesterday, if they get it repaired overnight, I should have a several hours session with taking care of all the requests and sending messages. :)

Then, the kids from Atlanta are coming to Nashville to spend the weekend, and someone put 1/2 off coupons for a nice water park, so likely we'll use them either on Saturday or Monday.

Y'all have a good evening.

:)    Good Morning to you all.  I have just finaly gone over the post's as usual very informative.  The last few days very busy my son got me enough tickets for the basrball game on Tuesday night in Toronto so 4 of us went but the Blue Jays lost but thats o.k. as they are doing good.
Wednesday it was a very large retirement party for all the retiree's from the Toronto Transit Commission company and the old Gray Coach bus Lines which is put on every year by the company and the Amalgamated Transit Union so it is nice to be able to go and see many old buddies that you worked with.  So it has been very busy this week.

Please Pray for me as I have the privilage to be at Paul and Pats wedding and also singing at it so I value your Prayers that I will do a good job.

WE ARE HAVING PUPPIES!!!  WE ARE HAVING PUPPIES!!

At last report there were 3, and Pat they all have Gyp colouring...... so far.

The weather is cool and damp and uggg, I wish it would warm up some.  I have grass to cut, and I don't relish cutting grass in a winter jacket!  I will maybe be able to do it this afternoon.

John won't be home till about 10:00 pm, so we won't be heading south to Guelph till the morning.  I will head to bed early and get some rest so we can leave really early, perhaps spend a bit of time with Pat, having a cup of tea, before the wedding.  I am disappointed, but what can you say.

I have to go.  I am not on CP as often as I would like, time and lack of a computer is the problem.  I am praying for the needs represented here.

Hi everyone.  A lot of news in the postings since I was here yesterday.  Nothing new down this way other than I am still struggling to get decent telephone service.  Yesterday I unplugged all the TV satellite receivers and disconnected the antenna from the house--no change.  I then unplugged my garage door openers--no change.  My friend suggested one last thing to try today and that is to have Pat get on the land line with a call and I will turn off the breakers one by one to see if there is a circuit that is causing the problem.  It that yields no results then I will consider going to VOIP again for the phones.

Janet, sure sorry to hear of the accident with your hand.  Don't we feel foolish when we have done something unsafe and then there is an incident.  Hope the damage isn't too serious.

Carol, I was thinking about you when I heard of the storms yesterday as I initially heard they had struck Denver.  However, when I heard Windsor and Greeley I felt you all were probably OK.  Sorry that your pastor had the damage and it is great that you both are going to try to do what you can.  Hope you have a great fishing trip.  It sounds like a cold time to be up north.

Judy, there are fewer things cuter than new born puppies.  I hope they all survive.

Gord, glad you were able to attend the game and are going to be a part of the wedding party on Saturday.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you have a busy, but fun, weekend ahead of you.

Nita and Al, I received my stimulus check a couple of weeks ago and it went into savings.  However, I think some of it will have to be used to get my car back in top shape.  Al, I agree this is really a tiny bandaid and doesn't address the problem.  However, I am sure it will come in handy for many just as you indicate Nita.

Ruth, how many more days of school do you all have?  Our schools got out on Wednesday and others in the area are finishing this week.

Etta Sue, I haven't wanted Chinese food since having such bad food the last time I went to one.  At least I didn't get sick.

Marilyn, I guess you are at your destination by this time.  Have a nice weekend.

Marilyn

Good morning here I am at Keith's checking in will all y-all. He has gone to work and I am doing a few houshold chores. We had chinhese food for supper last night.

Wow Jane and Nita, the Safeway here is huge compared to the ones down my way.

Hello to Pat and Paul if y-all have time to check in.

Well gotta go ceck SN and also take the towels out of the dryer.

Take care now and I will be back.

I wonder what time Jane gets up

WE HAVE 5 PUPPIES........Kass can still feel at least 2 yet to be born, perhaps more.  So far they all look like GYP! We are hoping that at least 1 looks like Mommy.

I will keep you updated.

Larry you ae right.  They are darling.

Etta Sue

According to the website I should get my Economic Stimulus Payment before May 30.  I haven't received my notice yet!

It sure is dark and gloomy here today and only 56°F.  Brrrr!  I slept later than normal since it was so dark outside!

Not much going on in my world today...unlike Pat.  Bet she is running around in circles!

OK final note on the puppies.

We have 8 border spaniels, and as one person said, cross breeds are now called designer dogs...I guess we have created a new breed.  Border Spaniels.

It is 6:02 p.m. and I am heading out in about 40 minutes.  So bye till Tuesday and God bless.

Ruth I am praying.

Heather

Woohoo!!!  8 puppies!  As much as JC and Kimi would like to see them, I am not sure I want them to, considering how quickly they get attached to newborn animal ... LOL

Aunt Pat, I won't be able to get to Guelph tomorrow, I was hoping that I would be able to come down for the wedding but our van is not on the road yet so I have no way of getting there.  With mom and dad coming down and spending some time with you, it isn't possible for me to come along.  Please know that you and Paul are both in my prayers and I trust that you will be blessed with a beautiful day tomorrow.

Gord, I am thrilled to hear that you will be singing at the wedding!  What a blessing for Aunt Pat and Paul!  I will be praying for you also tomorrow.

Mom and dad, drive safe!

I know that I don't get in here and reply too often but please know that the prayer concerns that are shared here are also faithfully being prayed for by me.

God bless you all,
Heather

Janet

Not many hours now until May 24th!!  It is also my local friend Pat's birthday, and I have yet to decide on a gift for her.......

My hand is not giving me pain today, except when it is touched on the back.  The nurse took off the outer bandage and looked at it, said it looks good.  It is colored a nice greenish hue.  ;)

We got the leak in the upstairs shower repaired today, so now our guests can shower without it raining in my closet below!  What a relief to have that done!  We also hung more cabinet doors, did more cleaning, etc. etc, etc.  :-\

Kansas is being hammered with tornadoes and heavy rain.  There is a huge swath, from Colorado, Nebraska, all across the west side to the center of Kansas, and on down into Oklahoma.  Last night, there were 29 tornadoes in Kansas alone.  Thank God, our little corner of the state is in the clear again.

We must take flowers to the cemetery for Darrel's relatives' graves in the morning, as I have to work on Monday.  His mom and sister aren't able to drive up and take care of it, and it isn't necessary anyway, since we are right here.

Carol, have fun fishing, and don't freeze!  Hope the right person comes along soon to buy your house!

My thoughts and prayers are with all in the wedding party. Much love surely will be surrounding all of you there in the church and as you celebrate this new union.

It's good to hear from each person. Heather, sorry you won't be able to make it to the wedding.

Gord, it's such a blessing to know you'll be participating in the wedding, too. Do good!

Janet, I'm thankful you're getting the things taken care of, but also concerned that y'all are really working extremely hard.

Marilyn, enjoy your weekend in Oregon. :)

As for me, I worked at a steady pace today, and was so pleased to get a phone call saying our unit got to leave at 3 pm. How nice it was to come home, take a leisurely shower and have my cell phone ring while I was still "wet." So, soon's I got the towel around me, I returned the call and the kids from Atlanta are already here.

We met at the Olive Garden and had a nice dinner together. I'm not certain if I'll go out to meet them at the lake tomorrow or wait until Sunday afternoon.

And, Shelby has their little doggie (C.J. by name, mutt by breed) as a houseguest this weekend. :D

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Good morning everyone on this special day of wedding celebration for Pat and Paul.  It was such a joy to have them visit with us a few weeks ago and to see how much they cared for each other.  The Lord has truly brought two wonderful people together and I wish them both the greatest happiness in the years ahead.

We finally got our telephone problems resolved late yesterday afternoon.  I had to get it done by a round about way but got the DSL repairman out to check on the outside of the house as the problems became evident right after I last upgraded the service.  It turns out there were defective "cards" in the central box for our line that was causing the distortion on the line.  It took him a couple of hours but he finally got us situated and the line is clear.  What a relief.  I was about at my wits end thinking it was a problem here at our house since the telephone company had assured me they had checked the line and all was well--it wasn't.

We have no special plans for this weekend.  I think it will be a quiet and restful weekend.

Janet, glad that things are coming together and some needed repairs have been accomplished.  Glad your hand doesn't seem to be seriously damaged and the discoloration will soon fade away.  You were certainly in my thoughts when I heard of all the tornadoes coming into  Kansas.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like your family is all set for a very enjoyable weekend.  I know you will enjoy seeing your grandchildren as well as the rest of the family.

Heather, nice the see your posting.  Sorry you weren't able to attend the wedding but you can be there in your thoughts and prayers today.

Judy, that is quite a litter.  Are they all healthy.  Hope you and John have a good safe trip to Guelph this weekend.

Etta Sue, it is taking the Treasury Department quite awhile to get all of the stimulus checks mailed.  It sounds like next week should be the week.  Now you can spend the weekend thinking about how you are going to spend it and stimulate the economy.  :)

Marilyn, we used to have a Safeway store close to where I grew up but they haven't been in any areas where I have lived for a long time.  We also had A&P stores and I used to love to go there with my grandmother as the smell of the ground coffee was wonderful.  Those stores are also long gone from the midwest.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I'm enjoying a quiet day at home today. Will meet back up with the kids tomorrow afternoon.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

I have been so busy today that I just thought of the newlyweds.  Congratulations, Pat and Paul!!

Tony came this morning and the mower is back to working once again.  Two new tires, oil changed, oil filter changed, greased, two new belts.  Deck welded. New mower.  The wireless remote keypad on my little garage door quit working.  I put in a new battery.  Still didn't work.  So I got out the instructions.  Re-set it.  Still didnt work.  Then noticed that after re-setting, I needed to re-program.  Still didn't work.  Tony said he had to do something on the motor of of the garage door opener.  Read about that.  He pushed a button on it while I pushed buttons on the keypad.  Works!!!  Something hiccupped!

Tony trimmed my trees while I picked up the limbs and put them in my cart.  I asked Tony if he had time for lunch at Woody's.  So we ate at Woody's.  Then I got some $$ at the bank.  Then gas in the car and lawnmower gas containers...$58!!!

Tony left when we got back here.  I mowed.  Swept out the garage real good.  Took the limbs back to the woods.  Aired off the mower.  And now enjoying a glass of iced tea!!

Bet I sleep good tonight!!

Good evening everyone.  The wedding was a wonderful family affair.  Pat looked lovely as did Paul.  The  gospel was preached and the singing was wonderful.  Paul's grandchildren sand The Bible Stands.  My what a wonderful message that was.

I have a 4.5 hour trip ahead of me, John is really tired, and I am driving.  The sooner home the better.

God Bless you all.  Pat and Paul, when you read this I pray the rest of your weekend is as wonderful as today has been.  God bless you both.

What a sweet message to Pat and Paul from Pat's sister, Judy.  Sending my love to the bride and groom - if they have any time to read messages

How can I complain about keeping up a house for sale when my neighbors about a 15 min. drive usually have such tornado devastation?  The house we worked on lost the entire east side of the 2nd. story and a huge window area was blown out on the west side as well.  Almost every window broken, insulation throughout the place looked like cotton balls, mud inside splattered over every single thing.  Branches came through the ceiling all the way to the main level.  The pastor's wife barely made it to the basement with the elderly black lab and cats.  A gerbil is missing.  Their new garage was flattened while the old shed still stands.  If there were no basements, there would have been many more fatalities - one fatality.

People started to go to work immediately - they helped each other so much.  7-11 had a sign for free milk.  There was so much help that it was  a heartwarming thing to see and read about.  Very rare storm that tracked to the northwest and so many didn't have warnings.  Don helped by taking the siding from the destroyed garage and cutting pieces to fit over holes in the house - taking nails out and so forth and he and a friend did the very same thing when they worked on the hurricane damaged home in Texas.  I swept glass for several hours and still so much left on the ground and all over - then had to pet the darling old black lab as he was needing friendship too.

Janet:  Do you have a basement to go to in case of a storm?  A wind-up emergency radio?

Ruth

Larry:   It has been our experience that the telephone company is always right and the customer is wrong, not always so.

:)   Well hi all.  After a very busy day I must tell you all that the song at Paul and Pat's wedding was very successful and the wedding so great the grandchildren sang so beautiful.

Again what a privilage to be able to be there to witness this beautiful couple to be united together, Pat's deceased husband Jack was a big part in my salvation.

Paul and Pat:  May the Lord give you many years together and much strength for the different trials.  God Bless.

Hi everyone on a beautiful Georgia morning.

I have enjoyed reading the first person accounts from the big wedding yesterday.  I hope there were lots of pictures taken.

Judy, hope you and John have a wonderful trip home today although it sounds like you may have made that trip home last evening.

Gord, I would have loved to hear you sing as well as Paul's grandchildren.  He was telling me about their singing when he was here.

Carol, I have never experienced tornado damage up close.  Having grown up in the midwest, and my father was an insurance agent, I was certainly aware of tornados and saw some of the damage but one never struck where we were.  We had a cellar and on occasion mother would get us into the cellar.  Unfortunately, where we live now we have neither a basement or a safe room.  I really wonder why safe rooms aren't built in new homes but sure it is the extra cost the builders don't want to add to the price of their homes.  Most homes now have large walk-in closets that would appear someplace that could easily be reinforced to give you a place to go.  My hindsight is better than my foresight or I might have had that done in this home.

Ruth, you appear so right about the phone company.  I think we finally have the problem fixed and didn't realize how annoying it has been for quite a long time until it isn't there anymore.

Al, I am like you in that Etta Sue's busy day just about left me breathless.  :)  Seriously, Etta Sue isn't it wonderful to have a son who is handy in fixing things.  I have a son like that but unfortunately he has moved away from me so it isn't a matter of picking up the phone and asking for a little help.  We usually had a little list of things when he visited and he always seemed glad to help out.  Wonder if my little lists had anything to do with him moving 2 1/2 hours away??  :)

We are attending church this morning and then will drive down to spend a couple of hours with our daughter.  We will get something to take in for lunch so she can stay off her sprained ankle.  I am going to do some computer maintenance for her and Pat will help her catch up on her washing.  She has about five steps at the end of her hallway to get to where she can access the elevator and it is hard to be on crutches and handle loads of laundry.  Since she doesn't have to work tomorrow she will have had about 3 days to rest her ankle.  She did manage to get to work on Friday but had missed the previous 2 days.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Again, congratulations Pat and Paul.

Al Moak

Well, about 3 hours and then we go to church.  Our Pastor has been expounding Galatians.  I'm a firm believer in exposition, as I think our Lord's people need nothing more than they need growing understanding of God's Word.  Whenever our pastor is absent, we have about four others who can preach.  I haven't personally preached now for many months.  Whenever the subject comes up in staff meetings, I shrink back into my corner to see if someone else will do it!

May our God bless all of you who attend His Worship today!

The weather here at the moment is clear, and the sun is just rising to shine on the row of cedars across from me (beautiful).
